Many near death experiencers end up divorced in spite of the fact that the transformation in their outlook on life is largely positive.

I just read a brilliant explanation for this.......

Here is a writing by Dr. P. M. H. Atwater that to me helps to explain how these experiences will also soon have a positive effect on all the religions of the world.

It's obvious that you and the little band of atheists here who spend more time denying and less time researching actually know very little about the actual evidence.

Agnostic nde researcher just got his aware study published in the uk secular medical journal resuscitation . It was the largest nde study ever conducted and in it one patient had a veridical nde , accurately described everything and everyone in the room (even described a nurse that was outside of his field of visual view ), but most importantly when hhis consciousness or soul floated to the corner of the room he saw a device and heard it bleep 2.

The machine was set to start bleeping when he went into cardiac arrest and would bleep every 3 minutes after.
He heard 2 bleeps which corresponded to 3 minutes . Parnia correctly points out that brain function is gone within 30 seconds , yet this man had a veridical nde during the state in which there is no brain function .

Parnia who was a skeptic and was even quoted in an audio interview with skeptiko saying that he believes that nde were hallucinations caused by the dying brain . He no longer believes this and it's based on the strength of the peer reviewed research he did at aware .

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/sci...r-death-in-biggest-ever-scientific-study.html

It is a controversial subject which has, until recently, been treated with widespread scepticism.
But scientists at the University of Southampton have spent four years examining more than 2,000 people who suffered cardiac arrests at 15 hospitals in the UK, US and Austria.
And they found that nearly 40 per cent of people who survived described some kind of ‘awareness’ during the time when they were clinically dead before their hearts were restarted.

One man even recalled leaving his body entirely and watching his resuscitation from the corner of the room.
Despite being unconscious and ‘dead’ for three minutes, the 57-year-old social worker from Southampton, recounted the actions of the nursing staff in detail and described the sound of the machines.
“We know the brain can’t function when the heart has stopped beating,” said Dr Sam Parnia, a former research fellow at Southampton University, now at the State University of New York, who led the study.
“But in this case, conscious awareness appears to have continued for up to three minutes into the period when the heart wasn’t beating, even though the brain typically shuts down within 20-30 seconds after the heart has stopped.
“The man described everything that had happened in the room, but importantly, he heard two bleeps from a machine that makes a noise at three minute intervals. So we could time how long the experienced lasted for.
“He seemed very credible and everything that he said had happened to him had actually happened.”

There are other research studies done as well by highly respected Dutch cardiologist and former atheist doctor Pim van Lommel who became a spiritualist after his nde study which was published in the peer reviewed journal lancet .

Phoebe , it's interesting that since doctor parnia's aware results came out he is no longer calling them near death experiences but actual death experiences or ADE's

    What a change 4 years makes .

Just about anything can transform psychiatry and psychology; they are not real sciences any more. See how easy it was to mau-mau both groups of 'professionals' when it came to political pressure from homosexual activists to completely reject science in favor of agit-prop PC intimidation and faddism. They have little credibility as 'professions any more, much less of conducting objective analysis. Some PC Nazis will get upset and accuse them of 'promoting xianity' or something and the two 'professions' will wet themselves and crush any dissenting opinions and evidence of it.

You have proved nothing, no proof of god and no proof that a NDE has any meaning or benefit.

FoxHastings........ you truly do liven up a conversation!

As you can guess I don't agree with your assessment of this post..... but I do like your chutzpah!

I get the funny feeling that if you ever have an NDE you might just pull a Bev Brodsky and blast the being of light guy for incompetence?!

I wonder if they will take another look at the Helen Wambach Ph. D. research?

The fact that over sixty percent of her volunteers were women..... yet fifty percent of past lives viewed were of men....... has got to be evidence for something???????

Some people might be inclined to think that this is evidence that the Devil is real and is powerful...… and I would not entirely blame them for asking that question. Been there......done that...… got the T-shirt!

Yes....... and can you imagine The Ancient of Days the Father..... The Ancient of Days the Mother...… Messiah Yeshua Jesus in his glorified form...… as well as Lucifer and Lilith and Azazel...… all rolling over on the transparent golden floor of heaven unable to stop laughing?

You and Bev Brodsky...… (and some other people that I can think of)....... may have accomplished a thing or two along that line while processing information here in four dimensional space - time?!

Did I ever tell you about the first time that I met The Devil/ Pan...(or Pan's son or little brother)?

Here is the background to the meeting.... posts #1 and #4.....

Don't know, but a neurosurgeon who taught at Harvard is now convinced it's for real.

    http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/334924

He doesn't appear to be some crank to me. With more evidence that religion has a biological basis coming out every year, even some legitimate atheists are acknowledging that religion indeed has a biological basis after all. Henry James and others in the 19th century also had that notion.

Phd oxford educated philosopher of neuroscience patricia churchland gets absolutely embarressed and decimated here as she tries to twist the opinion of nde expert and researcher doctor Pim van Lommel of the Netherlands , and when the skeptiko host catches her on it and is about to expose her, she acts like an angry little child that instead of admitting the truth , hangs up on the host because she couldnt back up her claims .

This is an oxford educated professor who teaches at one of the top medical schools ucsd , which is about 20 minutes from my house . I hope no student at that school hears this interview as she totally embarressed herself .

She claimed that doctor Lommel after his nde study now believes that Nde's have a biological basis (she even wrote it in her own book)

When she was about to be refuted , instead of allowing the interviewer to make his case she hangs up on him lol

After you have listened to that interview and see how she flat out lied about doctor Pim van lommels conclusions , you can read what Lommel actually believes as he was also interviewed on the skeptiko show .

    http://www.skeptiko.com/pim-van-lommel-transformed-by-near-death-experience-research/

Incidentally doctor Lommel was an atheist materialist before his nde research which completely transformed his worldview .

Most nde researchers start out as atheists and leave atheism simply be uses what they see in their nde research just doesn't mesh with atheism

Examples are doctor jeffrey long who is now a monist-pantheist
    Pim van Lommel

And you have agnostics like doctor sam parnia and doctor raymond moody

It's almost impossible to find any expert in the field of nde research that remains an atheist .

    Very true!

But I think that many of them may classify themselves as believers in Theistic Evolution.

I am of the belief at this time that the Creator…… in a sense evolved or learned over eternity in the past………. but that Adam and Eve were created as part of the restoration of the earth after it was destroyed by a revolt by Lucifer and about a third of the angels.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/relig...ichard-eby-verifies-old-earth-gap-theory.html
NDE of Dr. Richard Eby verifies old earth and gap theory.
I was impressed with the explanation given for the fall of Lucifer which would quite possibly fit with an earth that may well be 4.5 billion years old.

Apparently a lot happened between the original creation of the earth and the time when the repairing of the earth was made necessary due to an attempted coup d'etat by Lucifer and the angels who decided to follow him!!

Correct dennis , like I said the top nde researchers have a variety of belief systems going from pantheism to gnostic to esoteric spirituality . I am an inclusivist , and what inclusvism teaches is that if a person is searching for God with all of his or her heart with the light that has been given to them, they are ok with God, and this is one reason why I can research things outside of my worldview (I'm catholic ), and respect their beliefs . Inclusivistic teachings in the bible are teachings like the parable of the Good Samaritan .

Everyone has heard of the term Good Samaritan , but few people know that the Samaritans were the most extreme anti Christian , anti Jewish group of their days . They were also pagans , but Jesus talked about the sick Hebrew man on the side of the road who was passed up by a Jewish man and then by a rabbis without them even helping him at all.

The Samaritan took pity on the old man and took him into his home , feed him and nursed him back to health . It was the Samaritan that was doing the fathers will as Jesus said despite him being an anti Christian :)
Most of the earliest Christian theologians were in fact inclusivists . Exclusivism is a teaching that crept into Christianity in modern times .

As far as evolution is concerned Dennis , like I said I was a theistic evolutionist for the first 41 years if my life . I'm now more an ID'st now , but ID itself isn't anti evolution as many Darwinists believe . In fact doctor michael behe himself is an evolutionist even though he is an ID advocate as well. He even accepts common descent .

I have always believed that the earth is around 4.5 billion years old and the universe is about 13 billion years old .

I will definately YouTube the doctor Richard eby nde as you caught my curiousity with this post dennis .
I have OCD so when something catches my interest I must research it or it will stay on my mind lol.

Hey…. you have really gotten my attention with this OCD stuff!

That might just help me to understand what is going on in my own head as well!

    LOL!

Oh….. if you would like to combine your research into NDE's with a plan for peace between Christians, Muslims and Jews…. it is in this book……. on pages 137 to 170.

I believe the Good Samaritan represents Jesus Christ himself. The Samaritans were Jews, but they had a very exclusive view of Judaism. Jesus compared himself to this, because what he was teaching was outside the norms of what the Judaist priests taught.

This is a truly fascinating theory!

This would fit amazingly well with the ancient Jewish tradition of Moshiach ben Ephrayim/ Yosef/ (Messiah son of Joseph)!

    http://www.chabad.org/library/moshiach/article_cdo/aid/101747/jewish/Appendix-II.htm

Orthodox Jewish scholar Yair DAvidiy associates Messiah son of Joseph with Cyrus. The amazing way that the Being of Light of NDE fame deals with people from other belief patterns indicates to me that Messiah Yeshua - Jesus is indeed…… the ultimate Cyrus!

Hehe. Yea Dennis , I have an extreme form of OCD called pure O OCD . It has it's bad and good points . The good point is that it keeps me focused almost obsessively on one thought which is extremely helpful when researching it , but the bad point is that it's very hard to turn off the thoughts even at night.
When I was 11 I was shown to have a college level comprehension but I would tend to focus too much on one area , and I tend to get way to analytical at times . My best friend who has such a simple and pure way of looking at things brings that simplicity back to me .

Yea as far as peace plan between all the religions, I would love that to happen. As an inclusivist it allows me to respect their beliefs.

Mr. Tsvi Misinai heads up a group that are proving to Palestinians that they are genetically Jewish.

The Jews who DID NOT join in the Bar Kochba Revolt………………. were not necessarily expelled from the Roman province of Judaea.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/relig...bered-400-000-did-majority-convert-islam.html

First century church may have numbered 400,000... did the majority convert to Islam?

I guess it was about two years ago that I ran into evidence that the Palestinian people are largely the descendants of the second century Messianic Jewish community....... who DID NOT join in the Bar Kochba revolt against Rome..... and thus were allowed to stay in the Roman province of Judaea after the revolt was crushed.

I have noticed that this information has altered the way that I view the Israeli - Palestinian conflict ..... has affected the way that I pray about this situation...… and has been a subject that I have gone over and over again in my mind.

Mr. Tsvi Misinai is the leading proponent of this theory:

    I'm not sure.
The meaning behind the Good Samaritan parable was that no one could be that Good Samaritan. Those shoes can only be filled by Jesus Christ.

I believe that the being that many people encounter during NDEs is Jesus Christ, but that being never identifies himself. Because of that, people of other beliefs associate the being to prophets belonging to their religions. There was a woman (can't remember her whole name) that mentioned that when she had her NDE, that the reason for that was made clear to her. She claims that most religions point to Christ, but call Christ someone else. She then mentioned a native American tribe that believed in Christ, but called him something else.

In 1992 after reading a book by Helen Wambach Ph. D. I found out that somebody who lived only about fifty miles from my home did past life regression under hypnosis.

As I felt the process begin…….. I got scared of the feeling of loss of control…… so I could not be hypnotized but this woman was really gifted and she told me that she saw the Vatican behind me.

I thought to myself…… what in the world could that mean……. I am practically Jewish……what would I be doing at the VAtican???????

Well…. the years go by and in 2009 I wrote something up that would certainly explain why I might eventually visit the VAtican!

If I had not read many NDE accounts I would have been unlikely to come to these conclusions.

But actually….. a man from Uganda,, who I believe had an NDE during a bout of malaria has written a truly fascinating article about how Messiah Yeshua - Jesus will raise up a Christian political leader in these latter days who will also fulfill the role predicted in Isaiah chapters 42 to 46 and especially in chapter 45.

    John 14:12
His name is Eporu Ronald Alfred and his full article can be viewed in post # 6 here on this page:

He's right. God will resurrect a political leader. That leader will be King David, and he will be the king in Israel (Jeremiah 30:1-9).
