IF Trump had actually taken power in a way that the law didn't allow- then you would have a case. So would congress, but that isn't what they are faunching about.
If one looks at all the crap Obama did with executive orders and regulations, you would see that it was far more extensive than anything Trump has done- as well as far more damaging; yet it got almost no publicity, because we didn't have the level of hate and obsession in the people then as we see now.

Congress is the only institution of government that has no external oversight. The only power that can remove a sitting member of congress IS congress- they can vote for immediate removal of a member, without trial or criminal charge; just based on the feeling of the member's being unfit. That is a vast power by which an honorable institution could maintain it's integrity- assuming that there were enough members who had the integrity and would vote to do so.

So- they can change laws that the Department of Justice and supreme court must enforce. The make the laws which limit presidential powers as well as well as write their own. That gives them control over the other two branches of government, which have no real control over congress. Congress itself is the imperial agency of government that can control everything else. Not the president.

So since congress is the only authority that is supposed to clean it's own house, how well do they meet that responsibility?

Since the end of the civil war 155 years ago- the US congress has used it's power to remove a member- ONLY TWICE.

We have had three attempts at impeachment in all of our history. The impeachments of Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were acquitted in the senate. Trumps has yet to finish the process.
One has to ask what, if anything could a member of congress do that would actually cost him his job...

When you look at the number of people involved (45 presidents in our total history, 535 in congress right now plus all those since the founding of the nation) it would seem that Congress has no integrity at all and absolutely no interest in cleaning their own house- possibly because every one of them is equally guilty in some way. The last expulsion was in 2002. Representative Jim Traficant, Democrat of Ohio, was expelled after he was convicted on numerous counts of bribery, racketeering, and tax evasion. After.

Why then? Obviously, to create the illusion they actually had ethics.... after the fact. No sitting member would threatened that way. Totally cosmetic.

IF congress actually was acting honorably, they would have expelled most of the existing membership already. If any part of our government is rife with corruption, it is because congress has set the example and the conditions for it.

The only thing you don't have is evidence, just assumptions and hearsay.

Sure but only according to the blatantly partisan dem clown show. Other than that, all they have are assumptions and hearsay.

    No.

But the reasons laid out in the House impeachment charges are far from a hoax...and should be used to impeach Trump.

No problemo for his puppets. The senate will never convict him. The Republican senators do not have the spine for it.

That's a pretty stupid thing to say.

I'm going to vote for Trump because this entire impeachment debacle has been nothing but manufactured democratic bullshit. It's meaningless to anyone who has an IQ which exceeds their shoe size...

What you haven't figured out yet is that people like you ARE the problem, which is why Trump maintains such a large voting base, with still a 50% approval rating as of today.

OK, if you object to the word 'hoax', I'll substitute the word 'opinion'.

It can't be denied that those, who were called to testify, only gave their opinions.

Is opinion enough reason to disenfranchise 63million voters?

I am sure Pence would do just fine as president, but he couldn't beat a Democrat in an election.
If i were president a main focus of my job i would be to ensure my vice president was
    1. Publicly active and constantly in the public eye.
    2. Gaining leadership experience, learning how to be president.
    3. Doing things that gave the public a positive view of him mostly doing things of bipartisanship support.

Point being they'd be prepared both to lead and win elections. Or better yet, to be prepared to lead and therefore win elections.

    Nobody is being disenfranchised.

The House has determined that Trump has abused his office...and they are going to impeach him.

I can tell you this: I've listened to what everyone has had to say...and I am totally convinced that Trump attempted to extort Zelensky. I am convinced that Trump used a hold on lawfully authorized aid to demand a political favor.

If you think otherwise...I respect your right to think as you do.

63million people voted for Trump and he is probably going to be impeached over some people's opinions. Sure, he's not likely to be removed, but the party of hate is making the effort to corruptly disenfranchise those voters.

The Johnson precedent has been a cautionary tale for over 150 years, a prime example of what Congress ought not to do. Yet Democrats, with their forthcoming article of impeachment on “abuse of power,” are invoking the Johnson precedent as a positive inspiration.

Either you do not understand what the word "disenfranchise" means...or you are insisting on being wrong.

The people who voted for Trump...voted for Trump.

They cannot be disenfranchised. The vote is already in.

Give it another try...with a different word...or a different argument.

    Whatever.

If you think the Democrats are hurting themselves by what they are doing...you ought to be encouraging them to continue.

If you think the Democrats are hurting themselves by what they are doing...THE VERY LAST THING you should be doing is to try to stop them.

    Comprende?

It makes me want to vote for him all the more. I don't think the 31 Democrats in districts Trump won in 2016 will vote yes on such flimsy articles and chance losing their seats. My bet is they censure Trump instead.

Nothing will stop the dem clown show, their stupidity is showing. There are 31 democrat members in Trump districts in the House that will have to vote on this charade.

Who in their right mind would want to stop this?

You agree with concentration camps, gun confiscation, actively promoted police brutality and rape?

Beats me. But from the sounds being made in this forum...damn near all Trump sycophants.

Oh, occasionally we here the "impeach away"...but those are just incidental lyrics. Listen, instead, to the music.

What would you call the corrupt and illegitimate attempt to remove a duly elected President?

I think that you are making a distinction without a difference.
