So, he took direct control of government over army? Questionable - but hardly a treason.

As for being part of EEC - get real. It's an economic cooperation. And that's it. Not more, not less. Less tariffs, priviliges in trade, cheaper shipping. Otherwise what, joining EU would instantly render Ukraine a colony of Germany? On top of that - Ukraine could've been in both economic unions at once, they are not conflicting. Explain to me once again, how does trade with Russian Federation "destroys all ukrainian independence"?

And how depending on foreign military and economic aid boosts the said independence?

It's called State Commitee of State Emergency, and mainly it mainly consisted of members of USSR parlament, with addition of high rank military staff. They were not extrimists, they were trying to save the system in which they had power, undisputed and not controlled by anybody but them. And they did not overthrew Gorbachev, they TRIED to do that. Most what they achieved was home arrest.

Let's put it that way - you do not believe I have a clear knowledge of that event, not stained by one or other political agenda? If so - then directly ask questions about things in which you expect me to be incorrect, I'll shatter your disbelief and we'll move on with conversation.

Because a thing, that I am asking from you now, DOES the government you right now have in Ukraine pursues interests of Ukraine's people? Not the governmental elite formed post-coup, but people? Does this government fulfills it's promises, does it manages the country?

First the coup/ Girbachov issue. I know who they were ! They actually did remove Gorby forva few days and kept him in a dacha in The Krym . That was Aug 19th and I remember that since we had a hurricane here and that delayed our vacation plans. By Saturday the extremist coup was broken and the Baltic countries declared independence. The RFSSR and Ukraine followed suit, with Karakhstan waking up next.

Later the following week there was a meeting of the heads of all of the "republics " - Sovietski Respubliki - in Moskva and by 13 of the 15 republics and they started transition talks. The three Baltic republics did not participate since they just wanted the hell out and their economies were no where near as integrated as the other republics. Girbashov was still trying to push his new Union Treaty plan. Poor fool.

Something good might come out of it, like seeing russia get rid of the current verminous, criminal filth like little putie boy, and finally build a real government and country.

Seeing russia invade one country after another, help the b@stard assad genocide the syrian people, and as you said, tell the World to drop dead, I've no qualms whatsoever crushing the country until they are forced to remove that scumb-g as dictator and put in a sane leadership. The russian people deserve better, and so does the world.

He was a democrat, and somewhat idealist. You still owe him having the world the way it is today and not having yet another general secretary of central commitee of the one-and-only-political-party dictating your life.

As for status of Gorbachev - he was not removed from power completely - he remained president of USSR until the end of December. As for rest - yes, and?

...and centrists and neo-liberals and socialists and communists and....

Anyone else you want to mention? You're running out of groups.

Even more hilarious are the pro-putie apologists blaming other countries for syria and afghanistan, and russia had a VERY close relationship with saddam hussein - or did you conveniently forget that?

When are you little putie boy lovers going to accept the fact that putie is a dog hated by the world, other than the other fascist dictatorships like china and iran?

People like you make me laugh; you'll defend putie boy like a fanatic but the second that dog is gone and a new leadership is in place, you'll be spitting on the ground every time putie's name is mentioned. Pathetic.

Oh, right - because political change that was brewing for past five years is now a USA's achievemnt, sure. You can guess what direction I am sending such statement to.

Putin was going to go anyway, and this is because of us - citizens of Russian Federation, not because of you. Better not even try getting into that.

putie boy didn't steal those dollars; they were just "vacationing" in his pockets like the russian soldiers "on vacation" fighting the war in Ukraine.

My view is that sanctions should be lifted, and an effort be made at friendship. After all is said and done, it is the Russian people
who bare the brunt of our actions. We continue to push the envelope. They are not pulling out of Ukraine.

Putin will run again, because the majority of the Russian people want him. It is worrisome though, because the only one that I can think of that would have been able to succeed him should anything happen to him, was his friend who went to Siberia for environmental purposes I believe. I forgot his name though.

Recognition of him being capable politician is not the same thing with desiring him to run for fourth term. He won't be participating in these elections. If you need better excuse than "he is old, he used loophole in constitution to run for third term and he expanded presidental term from four to six years despite to constitution" - let's say that if you wish him good - let him go. In retirement. While he has more or less decent reputation and didn't turned into a second Brejnev. He too started well and energetic, then a few heart attacks, one unfortunate incident and fifteen years in office later he turned into a walking anecdote. Putin been in this job since beginning of millenia, it is time to let him go.

Those sanctions are a direct attack against German interests. The goal is clear. The americans want stop the Northstream 2 pipeline between Germany and Russia and sell american gas to Germany.

    This wont happen.

What we see here is how deep USA have fallen.

    The goal is very clear.

Russia screwed around and got caught with its hand in the cookie jar and now they are going to face a severe time out.

Putin has way way way too much to lose (richest man in the world?) to throw it all away on a war where any version of "winning" results in the complete destruction of the northern hemisphere at the very least.

The anti Russian brain washing by the oligarch owned media is very strong in Ukraine. It has to be to cover up the billions they've stolen from the IMF, while the people suffer to pay it off.

This doesn't mean that the ones in W. Ukraine, and embedded with anti Russian DNA from the time they were under Austria and treated as second class citizens needed any brainwashing? They were given enough of a complex for their Slavic heritage.... so they had to prove their superiority by joining the Nazis and becoming part of the SS. That by the way is where Partizani is from.

Germany made a mistake when it went along with the sanctions in the first place. It shocked Vladimir Putin on how Germany could go against their own interests to back the US, but he realized that the US must have some kind of hold on Germany. Let's see what's going to happen, because if there is enough pressure from Washington on Germany to go along, it might mean the break up of the EU.

It's not just Germany, the other nations in the EU have suffered enough with the sanctions, they simply cannot afford to pay more for their gas to please the American fracking industry.

If you believe Germany allows USA to mingle into our energy interests you are mistaken. Merkel already made clear that american gas is no alternative and that Northstream 2 will be pushed through no matter what.

It is apparent from your posts that you are ANTI-AMERICAN and therefore all of your posts are tainted.

The Russians tried to build a pipeline to Western Europe thirty-five years ago. Ronald Reagan banned the export of the necessary construction equipment which de-railed the plan. That put a huge crimp in Russia's foreign revenues and contributed to the fall of communism.

Now you think your country should undo that?

Why should a democratic country now want to prop up a regime which is becoming more and more totalitarian and does not have the best intentions for the West?

Does your hate for the US negate common sense?

All Germans should feel secure in the possibility of dependable oil supplies from America (at a cheaper price) than depending on oil from a man that could cut you off with a phone call.

The only thing that has fallen here is your objectivity.

(BTW: America is the rock star of the world. It does not need the vote of confidence from haters like you)

I´m anti american because i´m natioanlistic and stand for my country?

Russia is and always was our biggest energy partner. Even under bad ties russia did never broke its contracts. The gas from there is also 30% cheaper than your product.

You can lower your price below the russian one and then we might buy it. Thats how the market works.

German energy politics are done in Berlin and not Washington.

Also you talk rubbish. We already have a direct pipleine from Russia to Germany.

    Nordstream:

It runs since 2014 now and allows a direct link between Russia and Germany without needing to consult Ukraine and Poland.

What we build now is Nordstream 2. And no matter how much you want it, you wont be able to stop it.

There is no doubt that The Krym - Crimea- had a lot of Russians and pro Russia fifth column. There were and are a lot of retired Russian military people and their children, with the worst of the worst being the grandchildren and children of NKVD Turd eating scum. Thank God that actual NKVD Turds are about ninety plus years old or they have gone to see Satan. The population of Ukrainians in the Krym was only 15 % or so therefore why would there be any expectation of armed conflict. The Obamska administration told the Ukes not to fight the invasion of the Krym.
