I like the solution in the OP for the able-bodied that are on government assistance. Sadly, with the current welfare programs, the truly handicapped get short-changed because of government revenue going to those who game the system.

For a moment there I thought that we had agreed on something like eliminating the abusers from the bloated system altogether, but with further review I see that you still haven't given me or us a sense that our welfare system needs a complete overhaul, or that you're willing to consider any policy/proposal action to remedy the dire situation. And just what rights are being violated by the woman's proposals? Just like prisoners have reduced rights such as with voting, so too should these dependents have reduced rights for having living off the govt dole. But the Texas woman has come up with a reasonable plan to get these dependents off of welfare and into the workforce to where they can begin to feel a sense of worth and of having a sense of responsibility. You obviously have never served in the military, for if you had, you would know that her insight into fixing the welfare problem starts with bootcamp mentality and a bootcamp work ethic.

My my you do assume alot. First off I stated that I support welfare reform, just not the ideas that some woman in Texas is supposed to have written.
I served 8 years in the Army and grew up a Service brat as did my sons and all my male and some female relatives, I have forgotten more about the military than you will ever know. I see you have given up on discussion and have now turned to simply making up stuff as you go, sorry not interested in your games. Clue; the suggestions given in the "story" are never going to happen, now back to real suggestions, if you actually have any, otherwise do not waste time with a reply.

Since you as a veteran were quick to rail against and to dismiss the woman's bootcamp plan as being an impossibility, I would think that someone with your former military training caliber of expertise and or knowledge of what it takes to get a new recruit off his or her lazy arse and accomplish something worthwhile in life--that you of all people would or should be championing the young woman's plan. But since you neither see her brilliant plan as being viable nor have come up with a reasonable plan of your own, I am left with the unfortunate realization that you've just been blowing hot air around here the entire time. Btw, my plan to remedy this welfare mess is exactly the same as the young woman's plan in the OP. I guess by now you might have guessed that both the woman and myself are productive/sensible/common sense Conservatives who long for the time when men were men, women were women and welfare queens never existed.
