Would you rather be an African American Slave or a Jew in a Concentration Camp?

I am an agnostic myself, but I am blind to that particular fact.

 

I'd rather be a slave, but I'd have to have all of Blade's swordsmanship.

 

It could well be, that living under the iron fist of islamic rule, drove the Jews to become the way they are now, a seperate people, distrusting, and being distrustful.

 

To be honest, I have no idea if God exists or not, I just don`t know. What I do know, is that a tolerant society should tolerate, respect a belief system that teaches people to treat each other properly.

 

Don`t forget, humaniratian issues, were included in the term "successful", you haven`t provided an example yet.

 

And you believe our system teaches us to treat each other properly? I'm as much a political agnostic as I am a religious agnostic. Lordy, I detest ideology.

 

There really isn't much else on this political forum for you to debate, now is there? I've been considering writing to the moderators here to propose they start a new sub forum just for moderates, independents, fence sitters, centrists and anyone else who doesn't readily stand for anything, and for those who can't stand to take the debatable heat, or those who are just plain agnostic about their own inability to set goals and to have a game plan for their moderated or dependency driven lives. Perhaps they could devote another forum just to the jews and the slave wannabes.

African American Slave for a few reasons.

First, like you mentioned, if you were placed in a concentration camp, you would eventually be gassed.

Second, even though slaves had crappy living conditions, they appeared to have gotten better living conditions than the Jews in the camps.

Third, a slave has a higher chance of a successful escape.

 

If someone commits a crime, who do you blame? The law?

 

If a slave were to escape, where do you suppose they would escape to, and how would they sustain a life having no education, no home in which to live, and virtually no one to hire them?

I didn't realize that they were that sophisticated back then to have built an underground railroad that would carry them under the ocean back to their motherland of Africa. I'm learning something new here every day.

Many of them escaped to the North.

 

Do you think they faired any better up North as far as living conditions were concerned, or were accepted as being a full or complete human? What Northerners accepted these slaves onto their homesites, or offered them jobs on their farms? Remember, the slaves were only trained into picking cotton, a commodity I don't remember seeing much of from my days of living in New England and shoveling snow.

 

How did they do so when they were freed both before and after the Civil War and end of slavery?

You really don't know much about slavery and the history of the times do you. There were many free blacks both in the North and the South. Some of them owned slaves. Slaves did more than just pick cotton you know.

 

To be sold back into slavery?

 

Sad to see that old shibboleth (cultural reference intended) crop up again. The Khazars never had a true empire; they temporarily were top dog tribe over some other nomadic tribes until fortunes shifted and the Khazars dropped back into the ranks of the average. Imagining something on the lines of the Mongol Empire or even the Golden Horde at its height is simply incorrect.

Similarily, the famous conversion of the Khazars to Judaism was honored more in the breach than in reality as it is not known how many Khazars actually converted and stayed converted. Certainly several genetic studies of Russian-descended Ashkenazi Jewish populations have put the Khazar content in the 15-25% range of the genetic mix, and it would obviously be much lower for other Askenazis outside Russia (limits to population drift over considerable distances in only a few centuries).
