    I would have to say the trip was a success in that diplomatic relations were not severed between the US and some allies.
    I was embarrassed by the obnoxious, crude buffoon representing my country.

    For one thing, NO OTHER NATO country is as belligerent and ready to go to war with just about anyone than the US. No other NATO country decides, on the spur of the moment, and to make a "show" of strength to spend billions to bomb an airport in Syria. . .that doesn't even stop the enemy flights from flying! And NO OTHER NATO country decides unilaterally to drop "the mother of all bomb" to target 40 Talibans!

    No other NATO country benefits from the defence industry as the US does. And NO OTHER NATO country offers their soldiers the "Fringe benefits" that American soldiers abroad are offered, including inflated rental fees (as is being practiced around the AVIANO, Italy American airbase, where soldiers rent is being paid at twice the rate of what Italians pay!), golf courses, etc. . .

    Trump wants to INCREASE the spending on defence? Let him, but that doesn't mean the other NATO countries must follow suit! It appears that only Trump and co are anxious to rush to WWIII!

    Except he has left doubt in the mind of one of America's strongest allies:
    "Angela Merkel has suggested Germany and Europe can no longer rely on the US under Donald Trump.

    Speaking at a campaign event held in a Bavarian beer tent, the German Chancellor emphasised the need for friendly relations with the US, Britain and Russia, but added: “We Europeans must really take our destiny into our own hands.”

    Ms Merkel said that as the traditional western alliance is threatened by the new US presidency and Brexit, “the times in which we can fully count on others are somewhat over, as I have experienced in the past few days.”

    Donald Trump went to Saudi Arabia, did the sword dance, and signed a deal that had been negotiated by his predecessor.

    There were no talks of any substance during the Saudi visit. Just a lot of photo opps and Trump playing at being President.

    On to Jerusalem, which Trump was to discover WAS actually in the Middle East (who knew!). There, he told Benny Netanyahu exactly what he wanted to hear, and made it clear that the US wasn't going to stand in the way of any Isreali brinksmanship!

    Then to a photo opp in Rome.

    And then on to Brussels, where he managed to insult and worry our allies and give considerable comfort to the Russians. His visit to the NATO summit and his failure to lead at the G-8 are being condemned all over the world.

    Even as he stumbled around and acted bored and distracted in a room full of real heads of state, his predecessor was getting rave reviews in Berlin.

    Donald Trump is a little man, and he looked like on in Europe. The rest of his trip was a giant photo opp. Very little useful business of any sort was done.
