it simply cannot be done....especially in the age of RU-486 and "morning after pills".

As stated before, even if you get EVERY state to make abortion illegal (something even the "pro-lifers" rarely dream possible), there is no way to determine that a woman is pregnant leaving Michigan to cross over into Canada....returns back to Michigan not pregnant.

Unless you have "TSA"-style guards at every point of entry running ultrasounds on every woman of childbearing age as they leave the country.

Throw in it remaining legal in several states and your problem gets worse, unless you're going to buld a Berlin Wall around the Virginia/Maryland border or the Kentucky/Illinois border or the Arizona/California border.

So it either comes down to a totalitarian state (aimed at women of course)......or an admission that it's JUST FOR SHOW (i.e. making the USA "look like a more moral country") and not a serious idea.

Considering the dems love the Gestapo style TSA, its a small wonder they wouldn't go for this. Maybe you are worried that the republicans would make abortion illegal and it would be your own democrat party who would jump at the chance to stop all women and check them.

    Gorn Captain said,

You know...things are happening every day towards ending or making abortion harder often times impossible for women to get. Just this year two states have adopted the Heart beat law....if a doctor detects a heartbeat no abortion can be performed. Also if there are abnomalities...downs etc....no abortion can be done.
Abortion clinics are being shut down all the time. Doctors are refusing to do them. In a recent Time magazine article...they said Pro-life side today has a handle on this...and making big changes.

I pray that again one day it will be illegal. The possibility is always there. If this could not be true...the pro-abort side would not be fighting this hard to keep abortion legal. They know what is happening and they don't like it. They are a well oiled machine...killing machine.

And if a woman leaves and go to Canada she has that right. If abortion in Canada is legal...then let her go there. I am talking about legality in the US. And for women who live on border states that would be easier than a woman living a long way away...say in the South.

As for Mexico....not so easy. They have tougher laws than we do.

"Abortion is a controversial issue in Mexico, where it is offered on request to any woman up to twelve weeks into a pregnancy in Mexico City, but forbidden in 18 out of 31 Mexican state constitutions.[1] As of 19 January 2011, 52,484 interruptions have been carried out in the capital city since its decriminalization (2007)[1] and more than a dozen women haven been sentenced to up to 30 years in prison in conservative-leaning states such as Guanajuato.[2]

And how is that working out for them?

When screetching hysteria is all you've got, we know we can win this issue. I think that is what scares abortion advocates so much.

You are right. Look at the response from PP when Susan Komen tried to get out of the abortion business. They lost a lot of supporters.....and made people aware that PP does not even do mammograms....that abortion is their big money maker. The more we can expose about the entire industry...the better. And those on the side of abortion...(not talking about computer debaters) who are in the front lines...are scared. The recent Time magazine article confirmed this.

    - - - Updated - - -

Can't you find a source that is not biased? Guttmauchers entire board is pro-abortion. And look abortion goes on in all countries...but if you want to take the chance especially in a country as unstable as Mexico....be my guest.

    From Factcheck.org:

"Guttmacher "provides the most highly respected statistics on the sexual health of women and men. Its figures on abortion are widely cited by the media as well as by groups on both sides of the political aisle." So far as we know, they are most accurate figures available."

You wouldn't be able to protect vulnerable little children from child abuse or pedophilia either.

It's not a "Gestapo", it would just be normal investigation, not so different from any other child trafficking case. Concerned citizens could report any suspicious activity. (example: a new "massage parlor" that opens up in the neighborhood and seems to cator to mostly pregnant young women)

As for international unborn child trafficking...
They already make passengers go through invassive body imaging in American and Australian airports. Would it really be so much of a stretch to develop similar imaging machines that could see inside the womb? (so pregnant women could not go off to another country to get an abortion without law enforcement knowing about it)

You don't have to violate a child's civil rights to detect child abuse or pedophilia. Bruises are apparent, and children can self-report sexual abuse, there are also other signs of sexual abuse that do not violate anyone's civil rights.

"Concerned citizens" reporting on their own suspicions IS a gestapo. Most abortions are performed long before any pregnancy is apparent to "concerned citizens."

You're confirming what pro-choicers have always alleged: massive invasive procedures would be required to catch women who are pregnant and MIGHT have an abortion. Why don't we just require ALL women of reproductive age to forego all foreign travel? Do you think that would be a violation of their civil rights? However, you want to remember that women can get abortions other than getting them abroad. We can grow herbs in our windowsills. Women can learn to perform abortions for other women rather easily, they did it in the Jane collective.

And does FACTcheck...have a bias? BEcause they said it...its true?

THE MEDIA...IS LEFT...IS PRO-ABORTION. I could find stuff that would shoot down your information. But what would you tell me? You would tell me its biased...does not matter what we post from our side...you dismiss it. You are not interested in anything that goes against what your side believes. I have used Guttmaucher before....until I did research on their BOARD members. And while I could not find information on all of them...every one I did find was pro-abortion and was involved in abortion work. Statistics...can't be accurate on this because most women do not come forward after abortion.

Same could be said for the lifers. Now you know why I rarely post any links to anything anymore here. Why bother? Both sides will just dismiss what the others have to say.

Pro-lifers hate Guttmacher because it reports reality, and that doesn't suit their agenda. Get over it. Guttmacher is a highly respected source. It's reputation remains untarnished despite the pro-abortion disinformation attacks on it.

And even then they could just say they miscarried while they were away and unless they force a woman to strip down and start probing and examining her uterus they won't really know if that's true or not. Also they'd have a hard time getting medical records from Canada to prove they had an abortion since I am sure Canada will not cooperate with that BS!

    OKgrannie said,

Small children often times can not report it.

So its wrong to report someone who is doing something illegal, especially when its against a child?

Not true. Go back and look at how things were before 1973. Not hard at all. Abortion was illegal longer than it has been legal. Our laws apply to those in the United States. You can go to Amsterdam and smoke pot. And any woman could go abroad and get an abortion. But we can police what happens in the United States and to say we can't is wrong. We police a lot of things....drugs, prostitution, crime....Not hard at all. And hey if a woman wants to try to self abort....with coat hanger...with drugs....with the t.v controller for all I care.. she can do that. But if she gets caught...then she can pay for her actions. Her choice. But don't tell me that the millions that would get pregnant would resort to this...its not so.

Did anybody ever say that? Report as many illegal offenses against children as you like. Who's stopping you?

Seriously? Most women could not. Welcome to reality.

This exposes your motives. You don't care if women self-abort, kill themselves and the fetus, yet you claim to be pro-life? All you want is for your anti-woman agenda to be codified law.

And there are SIGNS of sexual abuse, signs to trigger an investigation.

It's wrong to report a "suspicion." That is "she looks guilty, guilty of something, so report her." You need real evidence when making a claim against women, and you can't get it because abortions are performed in private.

Abortion was illegal for approximately one hundred years. And how many abortions did that prevent? LOL, NONE! Millions DID resort to self-abortions, drugs, herbs, and illegal abortionists, and what makes you think things would be different now? You cannot stop women from aborting because they know they won't be caught. You can't prosecute someone for something you can't prove, and you can't prove women had abortions because you won't even know if they're pregnant.

Women could also grow opium in their windowsills. Maybe we should legalize that...

At least Kava Kava can only be used to abort embryos very early on in the pregnancy.

Couldn't the argument be made that women could give birth in secret and then kill their babies? So by that logic, shouldn't we allow mothers to commit infanticide on their own babies? (I know there is less motive to terminate your baby if it is not causing you to be pregnant, but it still happens all the time)

Not enough to make it profitable.

It's a lot harder to hide a pregnancy for nine months than it is to hide one for 6 weeks. It's also a lot harder to dispose of a full-term baby than a 6 week embryo. If you want to criminalize an action, you should choose one that can be detected.

Yes, and that is why women who have illegal abortions will have them by 6-8 weeks, so no one will know.

Did you know that the United States has passed a law making it illegal for any of their citizens to have commercial sex with anyone under the age of 18 in another country? A few American citizens have already been prosecuted under this law.

There are not enough social workers to go around to investigate all the abuse cases. And if the child is young enough and does not go to school...if they primarily stay home with a parent...how would anyone know?

Can't a male engage in child abuse? Look....there are abortion clinics shut down all the time. Do you think they close on their own? There are people working, and investigating believe me. Of course not all crimes go punished...that does not mean we should not have laws against things.

I don't know how many did it prevent? You tell me. It only makes sense that if somethings legal more people would do it. If it was legal to cheat on your taxes, everyone would do it. If it was legal for children to drive in cars without carseats....more parents would do it. If it were legal to smoke pot...I know a lot more people would do it. So if abortion is legal.....more women would get them. And if late term abortion was legal....more would get them...and no clinic would be shut down. This is common sense.
Of course a crime can't be prosecuted....if it is not known. The woman would have to take the chance. And if the law that would punish abortionists were tough enough, should they get caught... you would see doctors getting out of the business, not taking the chance.

    LMAO

Why don't they want anyone to know? Boy did you fall into that one. LOL

They don't want anyone to know because they killed an unborn child. And they don't come forward after that because they want to forget it....so they hide it. this is why statistics can never be accurate in references to post abortive women.

Abortion is not illegal at 6-8 weeks....why would they have to hide it. No one shows then.

Try to follow along. The conversation has to do with it being impossible to prosecute women for illegal abortions. Women usually don't want others to know when they are doing something illegal (at least I would guess that is the way it is, but I really don't know since I never do anything illegal.:fingerscrossed:).
