Yes. I remember those days back in 2008 when young adults were fainting and crying at just the sight of der Führer. But nowadays, I'm not seeing that anymore. Desperate for jobs, youth flee Obama http://campaign2012.washingtonexami...ential/desperate-jobs-youth-flee-obama/378596
They are smart enough to know "WHO" is going to be paying for Obama and the Democrats spending spree 2009/2010.
Desperate for jobs, youth flee Obama America’s youth vote, which turned out in record numbers in 2008 and gave a historically high percentage of their support to President Obama, has soured on him because they are having a hard time finding work and, as a result, are putting off major decisions like getting married and starting a family Obama, who won 66 percent of the 24 million voters age 18-29 in 2008, has seen that support slashed. And in a new poll from Generation Opportunity, a nonprofit that seeks to engage younger voters, only 31 percent approve of Obama’s handling of youth unemployment, a number that threatens to rob him of the voter group that pushed him to victory. “Ironically for President Obama,” said the group’s president, Paul Conway, “the hardcore reality is that young voters are now very dissatisfied with the direction of the country and are becoming more vocal in their demands for real jobs rather than promises of more unpaid internships and unproven programs.” And, he added, their anger coupled with their social media savvy could be a threat to Obama. “These vocal young voters are even more digitally connected--and politically potent--for 2012 than they were in 2008,” Conway told Washington Secrets. But it’s not just Obama that the millennials are upset with. Some 56 percent believe the leadership is wrong in Washington, 69 percent say political leaders do not reflect their interests, 54 percent say the country is on the wrong track and three quarters want federal spending cut. What the Generation Opportunity poll provided to Washington Secrets shows is that the nation’s next generation of leaders are extremely concerned about their status in a way previous generations weren’t. Consider: a whopping 77 percent say that they are delaying life changes due to economic woes. Of those: -- 44 percent are delaying buying a home. -- 28 percent are delaying saving for retirement. -- 23 percent are delaying starting a family. -- 18 percent will wait to get married. “The key issue for young adults is the lack of meaningful choices among full-time jobs that offer an avenue to a stable income, a real career, and the realization of dreams. Instead of genuinely listening to their concerns, they see a president and leaders in Congress who have ignored their strong objections to higher personal taxes, government interference with business, and reckless indebtedness to countries like communist China,” said Conway, former chief of staff of the Labor Department and Office of Personnel Management. http://campaign2012.washingtonexami...ential/desperate-jobs-youth-flee-obama/378596 If you promise hope and change, you had better stay off the links until you deliver. The One failed to do that. He failed across the board, and he will pay dearly for it in November. I think progressives know this. The real panic is that Obama will drag the whole Democrat party and progressive movement down with him. This election will be a national rejection of the progressive ideology, and they know it. _
Graduation age kids have it tough right now. But do you really think that they're going to abandon Obama and support Romney or Santorum in droves? There's a lot of wishful thinking in that OP article.
What makes it worse is kids go to college, take student loans then can't find work once they graduate. The student loans become payable starting 6 months after graduation, job or not.
Great another BS thread sourced from the piece of used toilet paper the washingtonexaminer. Whenever I smell excrement I know the washingtonexaminer can't be far.
Well, hope for that, because I think most of them are still more inclined toward Obama than either of the Republicans. If history is any guide, that demographic doesn't vote in high percentages anyway.
I really wish I could find it, but it was a break down of numbers. But 18-30 years have a employment rate of almost 65% of the unemployment numbers.
If someone new takes up Paul's mantle...perhaps. He's an awfully good messenger though....and this is really his last hurrah.
Oh fer cryin out loud,Yer boy Obama ran on " Wishful Thinking ". Obama is about as grounded to reality as Hunter Thompson's drug dealer.
Maybe because Ron Paul IS a BiG Kid.I see visions of Moon men with gifts of Bleu cheese in trade for our heavenly Ritz crackers.Well Not crackers as Paul needs sums them to help run his campaign.
LOL Yeah, you really need to find that quote. Right now, I'll just file this nugget under 'Exaggeration of the Year'.
I disagree. Ron is not a very good messenger. To illustrate this, I will describe how I felt about him the first time I saw him speak at a Presidential debate. Upon first impression, the man seemed out of touch and not very charismatic to me. However, when I reflected on the debate I realized he made the most sense and was more in line with how I felt about things. Will anyone pick up the mantle? Look how they treat Ron now. They either ignore him entirley or just laugh at him. Who wants to pick up that mantle? Then again, if there is a visionary out there somewhere, perhaps they will see the potential to create a new political movement that people seem to be craving. They will have to be like those black players back in the day during the Negro League who were gradually grafted into the white leagues. You have to be able to be spit upon and derided and even threatened, and not flinch. You have to do all this knowing that what they fear is you not responding in similar fashion, because they know that their way of life is on the verge of collapse so long as you just hold your ground and do what you know is right.
My wife has 26 nieces and nephews. A majority of these wonderful kids are between the ages of 18 - 26. Most them are college educated and having a very difficult time finding work. It has warmed my heart at our large family parties to watch more and more of them abandon their public education left wing rhetoric as they realize their Uncles, Fathers, Aunts, and Mothers who are predominantly Conservative were right. I am sure this same conversion is going on all throughout the U.S.A. These kids just needed a dose of Liberal reality... now they know that poor people will never offer them a job. Now they know that if the government is not the answer. The discussion amongst us 40+ crowd has been good as we realize the children are rejecting the ideology that is thieving their future in the form of National Debt. They now know all the government spending is actually taking from their future.
Yet many still vote for the likes of Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown & have no memory of just how bad Gray Davis Was .
White middle class...check. Christians...check. Catholics...check. Moderates...check. Now, the youth....check. It's okay Obama, you still have the fringe far left and blacks!
