in fact many Americans fled a Christian theocracy is why they came here, sure the ones to first arrived where on a mission to spread their religion, but not everyone that came here wanted a theocracy, in fact most did not

was Jesus ever mentioned in any of the founders documents?

    http://www.earlyamerica.com/review/summer97/secular.html

""Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting "Jesus Christ," so that it would read "A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;" the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination." That is true. Anyone who disagrees can easily look up my earlier posts about Madison's Memorial and Remonstrance.

Not really. They were against a dominant religion that oppresses all other religions and sects. They only rejected this little part of Christianity: the absolute validity claim.

Why? Because it features the Christian cross or something else?

You Tube once had a live channel which featured a Latina preacher from Florida. She was criticized by certain people for her right wing extremist views. Believe it or not she responded by openly displaying a pistol on live stream! That's when the criticism really started and her channel was dropped by YT.

Imagine that - one who claimed to worship the Prince of Peace openly threatening her critics with violence. Well, no surprise since righties are noted for their intolerance, hate, and proclivity towards violence.

That's not surprising. Just note the Christian history. A timeline full of hate and cruelty.

Oh, didn't you know? According to forum righties you can only say that about Muslims. Otherwise, you are going to be called a bigoted Christophobe or something like that.

Take God's name in vain by profaning Christianity through the promotion of hate and violence? That's ok. But criticize Christian violence? That's evil (according to them).

Because it’s naive. And because it implies all religions are equally responsible for the world’s religious violence when it’s just the “religion of peace” that commits 99% of it.

How is anyone "ON" YouTube simply by the word which describes them being allowed? You're talking nonsense.

    This is so stupid

Of course marriage was meant to be one man and one woman

Every indicator in the Bible points to that conclusion

The first European migrants to America were Christians fleeing another Christian sect. That is why freedom of religion was so important to them. And it is their Christian / religious views that shaped the constitution. The primary theme of which is freewill and self governance.
Not the greater good and fairness which leads to tyranny which they of course knew.

Nearly all the founding fathers grew up in Christian homes and as adults were either Christian or Christian Deists. A couple were just straight Deists, in which case they would have believed that there is one god and the his attributes were determined by rational thought and natural law, which from a Christian perspective is partly true.
But the main thing they came to agree on was the importance of the individual over the collective. The reason they came to that conclusion was a religious one. We are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights AMONG which are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
I capitalized among because it is so critical.
The constitution is in no way a list of or limitation on individual rights.
They believed God wanted each man to make his own decisions and his own way in the world.

    Secular humanists? Wrong.
Secular humanism is antithetical to what the founding fathers wanted.

nearly all is not all... the fact that some were not is what allowed religious freedom for all - they learned from living in a Christian theocracy that it was bad and did not want that to happen here too

It was Christians who didn't want to live in a Christian theocracy. Nor do we want that now.

Christians and non-Christians did not want to live in a Christian theocracy, nor do they now... well except for the religious right
