Why aren't you out performing miracles with your Christian super powers?

That's funny, because I don't remember ever seeing anyone do anything supernatural in all of my years around Christians. He's supposed to be like a freakin' genie or something, but I don't see him doing anything and I don't see his followers doing anything magnificent like healing the blind and curing lepers. Christians, when's the last time you cured cancer or a missing limb? When's the last time you moved a mountain? Might come in handy when one is threatening to spew lava on a village.

MIracles get performed everyday with preists casting blessings and others.

That you are too lazy to find examples of this is noted .. and irrelevant.

"Casting blessings" seems rather ambiguous and difficult to measure in any scientific fashion. That you are too lazy to show Christians curing cancer and restoring missing limbs is noted. Again, why aren't you out there doing these things if it takes so little faith? Seems pretty screwed up. If I actually had these powers, I would be performing miracles left and right.

LOL .. A priest or anyone else casting a blessing on someone is not a miracle.

What would be a miracle is if you were able to provide valid justification for your claims.

I have seen what I consider a miracle, but I am not going to talk about it for reasons I will keep to myself other than to say, it was not as dramatic as moving a mountain. As far as moving mountains or "nothing will be impossible for you"... that's just hogwash. If anyone disagrees I challenge them to head to the nearest body of water, a pool, lake, stream, and to walk on water... I will be standing on the shore with a nice warm towel after you fail.

The short of it is that miracles are a mater of faith and perspective. Where one sees Divine providence another sees luck and chance. And frankly to argue this point of theology is just an exercise in futility as it all comes down to faith or the lack thereof... just my opinion though.

I have recently put my soul on the marketplace hoping to get some super powers for it. This moving mountains thing seems fun... but what does Jesus offer in the way of personal vulneribility? I would like to have Superman like invuleribility and the ability to fly at the very least. I think I will wait to see what Satan has to offer. Any book written by Satan that someone can reference?

Note: I will use my powers to perform miracles like the ones talked about in this thread.

Remember pulp fiction ? "All shapes and sizes vince"

The movie was entertaining but a bit contrived, though I did like that point that Samuel Jackson made to John Travolta when the bullets missed the two of them and Travolta didn't consider it a miracle.

I also liked the Gimp scene.. LOL

Part of the problem...okay, the whole problem is you don't understand anything so how can anything be explained to you?
Jesus did not speak in literal strict phrasing. He spoke in parables and allegorical stories. You mistake the size of a tiny mustard seed for a likewise small amount of faith. That's your mistake.

Jesus' point was that true faith is so potent and powerful that even a tiny amount of it can do wonderous things. If atheists only understood the things they criticize and detest it would help.

Tell a tree to uproot itself. If it obeys your command without any assistance you might have something.

The short of it is that miracles are a mater of faith and perspective.

You're hinting at the sad truth of the matter here - miracles are subjective, a product of bias at best.

A miracle should by definition be impossible, not just something unexpected or fortuitous. We all have our fortunes and misfortunes, or as the goofy bible puts it, [your Father in heaven] lets rain fall on them whether they are just or unjust. (Matthew 5:45) Faith makes no difference in objective reality, but it alters how people perceive reality. It is that personal difference that makes faith significant, but that is only evidence that human beings have need of it. Is it any wonder, then, that religion - no matter how it differs from person to person, culture to culture and so on - is so universal? Is it any wonder that people the world over believe in miracles? Humans are tiny.. Humans are animals trying to make sense of a vast & very complex cosmos.

Thoughtful points, but I leave it up to greater minds than my own to figure all that out. To me faith is simple. I have a reason that I believe in God and it has nothing to do with making sense of anything. If some see miracles, kool, and if others do not, kool. To each their own.

The thing is, if people were actually performing miracles like Jesus, it would NOT be a matter of faith. If Christians were all going around healing people, pretty much everyone would believe. The reason it's a matter of faith and perspective in the real world is because people do not actually perform miracles and they take random events and claim them as miracles while disregarding the thousands of times they prayed for something to happen and it never happened. When people say god cured their cancer, it's not some case of "hey, I was in the doctor's office and he just showed me an xray with my breast cancer, and then, he prayed to Jesus and touched me, and then showed me a new xray and confirmed it with 10 other doctors." No, it's always, "I found out I have cancer, I prayed about it and had others pray about it for a year, and now it's gone." Well guess what, sometimes, cancer disappears on it's own - it does that. What it doesn't do is disappear instantly upon prayer, and what has never happened is a person regrowing a limb instantly at the touch of a Christian. And THAT is why it's a matter of faith and not solid evidence. Because the words of Jesus Christ are empty lies.

lol, hahahah, I love seeing new and strange (and always desperate) interpretations of the Bible from Christians. Yet again, a Christian insults my intelligence and claims I don't understand the Bible and then comes at me with a completely idiotic interpretation of things. Hmm, so, when Jesus says "because you have so little faith," and "if you have faith as small as" what he's really saying is, "because you have tons of faith as potent as a mustard seed." lol, keep 'em coming, this is funny.

Insane and backwards interpretations aside, again I ask, how many miracles have you performed? Why aren't we seeing limbs grow back and cancer instantly cured?

Christians aren't aware of outstanding abilities, but Spiritualists are do. A part of the Christians are also Spiritualists, so they're aware of those extraordinary abilities. But in honesty, there is no need of outstanding abilities to be sainted. I will mention right here, why it is better to be a Theist. Being Theist giving you spiritual power, which is given by the confidence and believe. Your believe in God will help you recieve those abilities, but you won't be able to use them, except if you will have confidence in yourself and those abilities' success. In general, Priests are just stealing your monies for prayers and shiit, same with Muslims, Jews, Buddhists. It won't ever help you, if a priest will pray upon your head, and promise you that your sins have been forgiven; it's a purely craap.

And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

You don't understand and your failed attempts to frame what you think you are being told proves it. If you think "You have too little faith," means you are being told "you have tons of faith" then...what can I say? You have a learning disability. Perhaps Jesus can cure you but then, you have no faith at all.

I have cured no cancer and restored no limbs and I suspect the same of you.

Perhaps we shouldn't be so quick to talk about something we have a limited understanding of.

If you really think that those two verses means literally anything is possible and Christians can move mountains... You lack common sense.

Even though this is only an attempt to mock the Bible, I know, it is a very weak attempt.

So wait, you (or Christians, if you're not one) believe that god was born of a virgin, walked on water, made wine out of water, cured the blind, cured lepers, cured the lame, brought someone back to life, died on a cross and then arose 3 days later and flew off into space on his way back to heaven, but I'M the one that doesn't have common sense for thinking that the Bible is saying that Christians would have even greater powers because that's just crazy talk? Uhhhhhh, what?

    herp freaking derp.

The difference being they think God did that, while you think they think humans can move mountains with their faith. Nobody (actually I shouldn't say that) believes that those verses are to be taken literally.

You don't see how ridiculous your interpretation of those two verses were? Regardless of what Christians believe, and we are talking about the two verses not the entire Scripture, your interpretation was grossly exaggerated.

When Kevin Garnett said "Anything is possible", did you take it literally too? It's being said in the same sense in the two verses, not literally everything is possible, but you should use faith to help you accomplish your goals.

I mean, really, it is so clear. Just use common sense when reading the verses. And no, I am not a Christian.

You know, being aware of Christianity isn't enough to be someone special. Priests whom are able to do something (rarely), must be aware of Spiritualism and believe in it. They must discover their spirit, and to control it. But as most of the Christians, they can't do anything outstanding, squarely.

The Bible says those who have even a little faith in him can do greater miracles than him. They aren't. Nothing you're saying counters that. They don't have to be priests, according the Bible.

Gas is more expensive than it was 10 years ago. Now that we've exchange completely irrelevant facts, how about something on topic?

Why is it common sense to believe in the miracles of a man named Jesus, but not others? Why believe in his miracles but not his words concerning others performing miracles? Oh yeah, because people don't have those powers, so they have to pretend Jesus was just kidding. Jesus said people would do miracles greater than his, but he didn't actually mean it, right? lol

Common sense should tell you that when someone speaks as clearly as Jesus did about performing miracles, it wasn't meant as a metaphor. You know, I understand Christians desperately turning everything into a metaphor or exaggeration when it clearly would prove their god or authors to be lying if taken otherwise, but for a non-Christian to do so is just weird. Intellectual dishonesty for what motive?

And it's interesting how all of the ridiculous, impossible things are just exaggerations and metaphors, but heaven, oh of course that's real or meant by Jesus to be real. Right, because magically living for eternity with sky daddy - now that's just common sense to believe in literally. Gimme a break.

The Bible is quoted from the Old Testament, which is much more useful and influencing book. The Bible is filled by lies, so I don't believe in it.

Those guys are harder to nail down than Jesus was. It's gotten to the point where nothing means what it says unless you have the secret decoder like that con man Joseph Smith had.
