Thanks......I'm still trying to understand the "notorious bully" moniker. All I see is that the perpertrator says he was being bullied.....and then uses the time-tested "racial slur" excuse for beating another teenager to death:

The 13-year-old, who was a pitcher in the game, testified during the trial that he felt threatened by the much bigger teen. He said Jeremy pushed him and used a racial slur as the two waited in line at the concession stand in Palmdale, about 40 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

"I pray to God it never happens again," the judge said in issuing Thursday's ruling. "Jeremy Rourke didn't deserve to die for teasing."

If the black kid felt so threatened why didn't he just get out of the concession line and go find his parents or coach. The "racial slur" angle is so old and stale it carries no weight with most normal people.

 

Ummm.... this isn't exactly a 'whodunit' mystery.... he suckered punched the coach during the game in front of witnesses while he, the coach, was concentrating on taking notes........

 

I hope the little (*)(*)(*)(*),s life is ruined and is charged as an adult. Its one thing to get into a fight with someone at a bar, because he insults your chick, and duke it out. It is an entirely different thing to sucker punch someone doing their job at a sporting event. I go to hockey games and I see fights all the time but when a ref stands in between them then the blows immediately stop.

 

I'm sure the last thing this thug kid needs is a freakin' Bubba and bunch of other criminals to influence him. I should hope he'll at least get sent to something other than adult prison, like in the example you posted about the baseball bat murder in California, where that kid went to a "youth detention center," though even that seems like overkill to me. I should also hope that the judge will have a lot of leeway available in handling the sentence, since he'll know more than any of us about this kid's background and attitude, which is most critical in making these decisions.

 

Well, yeah - but the last thing the ref needed was to get killed, just like the last thing his family needed was him dead. We don't always get what we want.

Well, the kid is 17, I suspect there's a strong possibility he might be charged as an adult. He left the scene of the crime and was apparently hiding since the police were searching for him. There was apparently some time that elapsed between the issuing of the foul and the sucker-punch, so he had time to think about his actions, in other words this wasn't spontaneous. Not that I know what the judge in charge is gonna do, but I'm thinking it doesn't look good for Punchy McSmackhead here, and perhaps he should start buying some K-Y jelly in advance.

There was no hospital for George that night because George refused three times to go to the ER that night.

As for the OP of this thread if one punched killed that ref then George should have been dead many times over from the beating he claimed that Trayvon gave him that night, but oh well!

Is there something wrong with the concept that anything can happen when your head is hurt and you never know the extent sometimes till a sudden death? One hit can be fatal. Sounds like the kid hit him so hard his brain rattled in the skull, thats effing terrible. And all for why? Because this kid was mad about a call in a game? Not acceptable on any level.

Um, yeah Johnny, the 17 year old child may have ruptured a blood vessel or hit him with such force it could have broken his neck, severing something inside- there are lots of explanations.

Well at least one! Are you familiar with Liam Neesons wife who hit her head skiing and died hours later? She refused treatment, but a head injury is a head injury even if its "just" done by a fist. It happens more than you think. The kid caused a head injury that resulted in death.

 

Dont matter, time for "fist control" to be enacted by the government.
We need "reasonable" controls on who and why a fist can be made.
Fists at least should be registered.
