but was in no condition to fight elite competition...

I'm not saying Cyborg can't... it's just not fair to make her suck weight, be weaker, just so Rousey has a better chance to win. A catch weight, since the UFC doesn't currently have a weight for cyborg... is the only option.

About doesn't mean made. This seriously hurt her brand, no doubt about it. The rematch should be good however. BUT it's a rematch she has to win. Movie or rep? Which way do you think she'll go.

Movie. She already stated she cant see herself doing this in her 30s and she is 28

Why should Rousey have to move up ? Besides now its not much of a draw . Its now Cyborg vs Holms

I don't think it's her style but Holly Holm is in the driver's seat. If I were her management, I'd do the rematch, BUT do it one or two fights later. Rousey would have to wait or fight someone else looking to make a rep. BTW there's a lot more money in the fight vs a movie. Not even comparable. Rousey is a competitor. She didn't like or expect a beatdown and has something to prove. The payday would be massive.

because both are champs.... just UFC doesn't do Cyborgs weightclass, only Rondas.

.... do a catch weight and both are fighting out of their comfort zone.

I think it's pretty standard that the champ drops the belt, they get the rematch first thing (unless there is an injury or something). May be in the contract

Agreed. But Machida's karate stance with his back and face even more retreated makes takesdown very risky - especially considering how good's Machida's speed and counter left is. Rashad also felt very uncomfortable striking with Machida.

It's that idiot Rogan who should really be embarrassed the way he fawned and CRIED over Ronda. He called her the "Michael Jordan of MMA" and a "Once in a lifetime human." It was sickening and disrespectful to the other UFC fighters - especially men - who were fighting much higher quality opponents.

I think he had talking points given to him in order to promote the product. I remember him saying one time, that some of the 135 males would lose to her... that's BS.

Well some but not any that are real good. If women were as good as men at sports there would be no need for men and womens sports but simply sports. Women are held to a lower standard in every sport. The only place men and women are equal is under the law and in relationships if they are good ones.

Bear in mind that Rogan is a promoter - in a past lifetime he was probably a circus or side show caller. He actually does a good job of promoting and hyping his fighters. You cannot dispute that he has succeeded in his sell jobs - after all, UFC is probably more popular today than is pro boxing in the USA. Perhaps he goes overboard as he did by suggesting Ronda could defeat male pros. While I like her very much, let's be honest - in a cage against a half way decent male fighter she would likely get killed.

Actually she got a good paycheck for her loss and prolly does not need to fight again. I understand Hollywood is calling and she will make far more $$$ there than in the cage.

I will not dispute that. But in all honesty, I feel his greatest success is in marketing - the guy is a genuine first rate promoter. This is why UFC has gained so much appeal despite the fact that many of its fights don't measure up to all the hype.

The average woman has only 60% of the upper body strength of the average man. This is a scientific fact.

If these women MMA fighters were pitted against MMA male fighters of the same weight class and skills, they would be beaten close to 100% of the time.

But who the heck claimed Machida wasn't an elite striker? Its not like Rashad had another option, unlike Rousey who played right into her opponents strengths. She didn't have to. She could've forced HH to come to her, but she followed and kept walking into punches....WRONGO!!! MMA basics 101. Her coaches were MORONS!!!

You'd be hard pressed to find a male fighter in any weight class under contract with the UFC that wouldn't completely mop the floor with Ronda.

As far as her saying she could beat Mayweather in a fight; she wouldn't last 15 seconds with him.

he is good at what he's hired for, no doubt.... he's no different than Jerry the King Lawler with WWE.

Isnt that what I said ? She would have a better chance against Meriweather than Holms as he has no grappling skills. He would submit if she arm barred or ankle locked him but most likely he would punch her and knock her down no matter where he hit her.

It might be in the contract but maybe not. Holm runs the risk of a loss herself unless the fights a lamb or two. Needless the say, it puts the movie stuff off a bit for Rousey. That this was in Australia meant the outcome was unexpected. The rematch will probably be a Vegas event or someplace like Hong Kong with real money. Should be huge. I don't see Rousey backing down a bit, but she will approach the next one differently and she will learn how to be a much better boxer.

To be fair to Joe, I'm sure he had to based on his contract.

The money for a rematch would dwarf anything that Hollywood could offer.

Why do we have different classes for women? I'm surprised the feminist are not fuming over this.

In the spirit of equality, there should be no men or women's classes, just weight classes.

Looking at your post you said she beat "some but not any that are real good".

She wouldnt last a minute with any male fighter under UFC contract. Now I don't know of every single fighter under contract, but unless one of them is a double amputee she's getting killed.

I agree with that... she got sucked into fighting to HH's strengths when, as the champ, she should have made HH come to her strengths. I think HH played mind games and RR got over confident....
