I really, really don't like the Republicans plan to replace Obamacare. I think it betrays the principles of conservatism and does very little to limit the federal governments influence. However, this plan is better than nothing, and there is a hope that Ryan's "three pronged approach" could work if it passes and Republicans can get a filibuster proof majority in 2018. If it fails,Republicans have let the American people down in the biggest way possible. The Republican Party simply cannot go back on their core promise of the last seven years. Even though the bill sucks. it must be passed.
I see. Even though the bill will make things worse...it has to be passed. Hummm...strange thinking as I see it. Considering that only a small minority of the "American people" want Obamacare repealed...how do you figure that? Not necessarily so. Be careful what you wish for.
If the American People wanted Obamacare to stay, they would've voted for Clinton, but it has been a rallying cry within the Republican Party for years.
Yes, it's so much better to damage healthcare than to keep a plan signed into law by a Democrat, and a black one at that! The Republicans tried countless times for 7 years to devise a plan that would pass, and during the campaign they said they had The Plan finished and ready to pass. I guess it was all just 7 years of one more Republican lie.
That apparently is not so. If the percentage of people who want Obamacare retained and expanded had voted for Hillary Clinton...she would be president. Other factors undoubtedly were in play. Less than 20% of voters want all of Obamacare repealed. http://www.mediaite.com/online/poll-only-18-of-voters-want-all-of-obamacare-repealed/ 58% want to KEEP Obamacare http://theweek.com/speedreads/684472/poll-shows-58-percent-americans-want-keep-obamacare To suggest that failing to repeal it would "...let the American people down in the biggest way possible" is gross misrepresentation of the reality. Although I will acknowledge that not repealing it would let the zealots of the far right down.
And the sun will rise in the morning and set in the evening on President Trump. If I were Trump, I simply gut the mandate from ACA and take it off the resuscitator and let it run it's course, and next year replace it with more support at that point. This may actually happen by the way.
You don't seem to realize that the real republican goal is to stop the tax cost for the rich that the ACA carries. Interesting that it's a cost that those who are taxed have said they don't object to, yet the Republicans insist on giving it back anyway.
Somewhat reluctantly, I disagree, quite a bit. As it is, the new "Trumpcare" replacement is little more than a watered-down, squishy-ass, RINO substitute for the obviously unconstitutional "Obamacare". Trump should just leave the whole, entire Obamacare platform alone to go right on crashing and burning -- exactly as radical Democrats crafted it to do! They built this piece of s**t, they constructed everything in it without any help from anyone on the Right, and now that it's in a death-spiral, WHY should we on the Right come swooping in to try to "rescue" it, with rabid Democrats screaming and kicking us in the guts every single step of the way? Let the damn thing go on committing suicide, and let it be clearly remembered that this was a DEMOCRAT failure, from start to finish! Once this rotten, socialistic pile of garbage is verifiably dead, then we should remove its carcass and start all over -- fresh, fair, responsible, cost-effective, and NEW.
Yeah, $21,000/month is pretty rich. $125/hour is pretty rich. Such a household can afford a little tax.
What I find so incredible is that the ones in the GOP that are saying they will vote against TrumpDon'tCare is because it isn't crazy ENOUGH! They aren't against this poor plan because it hurts too many people, but because it doesn't hurt ENOUGH people! The GOP now has crazy members and BatS&%T crazy members.
The ACA is bad and TrumpCare is bad. The Government should not be deciding healthcare, but possibly some requirements. Sometimes the hole you have dug for yourself cannot be filled in easily. It may take hard arduous work, but that work needs to be done in order have a better result in the end. You can only "patch" things for so long before it is permanently broken and no amount of patching will fix it. At that point you're screwed and are doing the hard work in a hurry, which leads to mistakes. We are not at the permanently broken part yet, so the Republicans need to slowdown and think this through and do a good job. To throw something out there that won't last any longer than the ACA did would be a mistake and reflect poorly on them. Look how well the Democrats did after passing a bill that needed to be passed before we could know what was in it.
Based upon the results of this last election where Hillary....a known political figure, lost to Donald....a known reality star.......I would say both parties are crashing......hard.
I wish you would have felt that way before Obama and pals blew up our healthcare system to start with.... What are the American people supposed to do? Suck it up? Watch the country implode in bankruptcy? What a joke.
I do not think they did. I think they got the best they could...considering the obstruction...to getting America on the path to reasonable universal healthcare...LIKE THE REST OF THE INDUSTRIALIZED WORLD. I think Obamacare could make a fine base for that universal coverage or care. But...the far right is demanding that it be repealed. Over 60 attempts...and now a new one today. We'll see how it works out. Governing is not easy...especially for the right. The are, in many respects, incompetent at governance. But...it is what we've got at the moment. Your side is in almost total control of government at every level. We'll see if we are better off under your stewardship than previously. If you are talking about the American right...we have an area of agreement, Best.
The Republican party has become the party of corporations and anything they can do to further enrich themselves and corporate America is why they now exist. Governing is not what they even care to do. They steal and corrupt. Both parties have gone off the rails with the exception of a few real Statesman. But there is no doubt that there are better chances for the average person when the Democratic party is in charge. Look at what is not even hidden anymore and brazenly in our faces along with their spit...
