At that point he has committed a crime and they will respond to that.

If he hasn't committed a crime, yes. They will sit iin their car and do nothing until he does.

that sort of snide attitude towards gun owners proves-beyond any reasonable doubt-that your issue is with lawful gun owners who don't buy into your political agenda. Crime control has nothing to do with your hatred of lawful gun ownership But I guess if karma runs true, maybe one day you will be in that position of saying-damn I wish I had a gun.

Well, I guess where you live the police are much different from where I live. Glad I live where I live. :)

disagree, while I do not own a gun, I am safer from predators (human Criminals) that think I might have a gun

I even go furture then most on the right, I think even Criminals that have severed their time have a right to protect their homes and families with a gun if they so choose, every free American has a right to own a gun if they choose, it's not a 'privilege' to have the 'right', that is not how rights work, that would be called a privilege like getting a drivers license, do we really want to make owning a gun a privilege rather then a right?

I also think business should be able to choose if customers are allowed to carry guns on their premises

now, should their be no gun zones, like airplanes, court houses, schools, ect... sure

the fact is, making laws restricting law abiding citizens only applies to law abiding citizens, criminals do not follow the law, thus would still own the guns either way

One, pistols are used more often than so called assault rifles in mass shootings and two, the EU has more mass shootings than we do.

This is true but I don't like many of the double action .41 mag revolvers, I like the feel of the Blackhawk in my hand, and I shoot it well. I use .41 mag in the woods because the Maine Guides recommend it over the .44 Mag for Black bear. I like S&W's .357s, particularly the old Model 19, 27, or 28s, over that I tend to go with Ruger because there's virtually nothing you can't shoot through them.

I'm a gun enthusiast and I own many. I am also a combat veteran and I have a license to carry. Do I have to give up my freedoms and leave America for your comfort and ideas? I don't know why you are making such a fuss, it's not like you are going to get shot on the internet.

And yet it is fact. The courts have ruled on this matter time and time again.

The question asked did not pertain to the distance between your location of residence, and the location of the law enforcement department building. The question asked pertained to how long it would take for law enforcement to arrive at your location at any given time. As in how long would it take a law enforcement response if they are needed when the closest available law enforcement officer that is actually able to respond to your call, is ten miles away from your present location?

Merely calling for help does nothing. When one calls for help they must possess the ability to verbally convey who they are, their exact location, and what the nature of the threat is that warrants a law enforcement response. Simply dialing the number and screaming for help does nothing that will aid them in their efforts at responding. If it is not possible to be articulate, it is not possible for law enforcement to get to you.

They have been known to tell those who have restraining orders against abuses ex-spouses, to call them back once the individual is actually at their front door.

Yeah. I've seen the chalk outlines of people who made similar choices. Not for me, "thank you".

The post in my town under worst case scenario would make it 2.6 minutes arrival time.

You probably don't have this system where you live given your question, but here we have caller ID which gives your location, name and all other pertinent information the police would need.

I showed your post to a friend who is a police officer; he read it, laughed out loud and said that "what's he smoking?, Of course we are not going to sit idly waiting for someone to shoot another person". So that tells me that maybe that's the type of law enforcement where you live, but here where I live it's a different story. You keep your culture of law enforcement and I'll keep mine and we'll both be happy.

Wow, you're really out of it. Sit down, re-read what you just posted, think about what you just said and reconsider what you posted.

I congratulate you on your increased capacity to miss the point.
The gun were stolen. No gun control law will prevent this; regardless of this fact, there's dead white schoolkids, so the anti-gun types scream for more laws.

what nonsense.how many of those gun deaths are caused by right wing gun owners or NRA members vs black inner city gangbangers who come from families that almost always vote for gun banning politicians?

No, you need to turn your damn brain on.

There is this nifty little concept called "Innocent until Proven Guilty", and police cannot act without Probable Cause. If you call the cops because of a suspicious party outside, and they show up but the suspicious party has done nothing, they'll interview him and send him on his way... and once they leave, if he wishes you physical harm, he'll be back the moment they turn the corner and drive away.

Oh, and just because the police station is close enough they could drive to your house in 2 minutes from the station doesn't mean their response time is a couple of minutes. If the police are occupied elsewhere you won't be getting help until they've resolved what they're already dealing with.
