As Much As I Despised The Last President, I Always Stood For My Country's Flag

Up is down, left is right, night is day... Not ONE of them claim they are kneeling to "honor the flag." That is absurd to claim.

The players were not disrespecting the flag, national anthem, or our country. They were protesting during the anthem, not a damning it. In their minds, they want to improve our country but making things better for minorities. They weren't whining about their own lot. They want to improve the life of others. It is their right to do so peacefully.

And it is your right to disagree with them peacefully.

 

Wouldn't then also be "freedom of speech" that should be allowed if the black members of the teams took out American flags and burned them during the national anthem as their free speech protest?

 

Why do traitors feel like they need to fly their traitor flags at every NASCAR event? Why can't they just proudly hang them on their wall at home next to their hoods?

 

I think all familiar with your messages understand the compulsion to attack Christianity no matter what the topic is.

 

Trump continues his pursuit of dividing this nation.

Every Sunday during the fall Americans can go to the ballpark or turn on the television to enjoy NFL football. For a few hours people can forget about the healthcare crisis, tax reform, the budget, North Korea, Iran, and the devastation caused by hurricanes. Americans can have their differences, but we all unite when it comes to sporting events. No more was that more true than after 9/11.

So, seeing all this camaraderie, Trump decided to spoil the party. He attacked the NFL and its players because nine players took a knee during the national anthem. Trump called them sonsabitches. Then he called for a boycott of all NFL games and demanded that owners fire the miscreants, making an extremely minor issue into a major one and driving a wedge between Americans.

Trump just can't stand to see Americans joining together and enjoying a Sunday afternoon.

 

i own two American flags. I own the collectors USA all cotton, made in the USA flag I purchased at Pearl Harbor that flew on the USS Arizona the certificate says. I don't fly it. I think it is that valuable that I keep it safe and collectible.

I own a confederate battle flag. I don't own the actual confederate country flag, never located one. I don't fly it either. I keep it for my heirs. Democrats want to erase evidence of the ACW.

 

Trump's completely unnecessary attack on the NFL is beyond the pale. At a time when our nation is faced with two national disasters, Hurricanes Harvey and Maria, an American territory completely destroyed, a crucial vote in the Senate on the nation's healthcare, a budget resolution, and tax reform, Trump decides this is good time to demand that Americans boycott NFL football while declaring that NFL owners should fire players who take a knee during the national anthem.

Section Four of the 25th Amendment reads, "It allows the Vice President, together with a "majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide", to declare the President "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office" by submitting a written declaration to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. As with Section 3, the Vice President would become Acting President. Section 4 is meant to be invoked should the President's incapacitation prevent him from discharging his duties, but he is unable or unwilling to provide the written declaration called for by Section 3."

Clearly, as evidenced by his surreal attack on America's most popular pastime, President Trump is incapacitated and cannot fulfill his duties in the Office of the President. It is time for our elected representatives to remove Donald Trump for the sake of the country.

In no small measure, his aberrant behavior as illustrated by his inability to perceive reality is a contributing factor.

 

Well, personally, I think right-wing Christians do a pretty good job attacking true "Christianity" with their a la carte version. They apply the same idea to what they like to call "patriotism" which really just comes down to empty nationalism rhetoric reminiscent of fascist regimes that require public shows of loyalty to ensure the obedience of their subjects.

Yeah, we know. One represents the United states and has 50 stars, 13 stripes and is red, white, and blue.

The other one represents opposition to the CRA during the 1950s and 1960s by Southern racists who thought the coloreds were getting all uppity about being lynched and denied the right to vote.

You can take a knee to pray to God, but not for the Flag or the national anthem? What really has this country come to, were a flag and an anthem gets more respect than God?

 

Of course it doesn't. It makes just as little sense as saying that disrespecting the flag honors the values that you say the flag represents.

It does to me. Your have a very constipated and bloodless view of what a nation is.
