It won't be long before people start telling Trump to go ____ himself. I'll give it two weeks at the max.

Hmm..what mask do you think we are wearing?

So far it is Trump supporters whom have all of a sudden become all SJW over the flag...which coincidentally, if they have in their own home most likely disgrace on a daily basis them selves...especially if they have ever been to a 4th of July gathering and tossed out one of them lil flags they hand out, or the countless improper placement violations iv seen on vehicles.

How many freedoms do you think people really have? The Repubs have been working night and day to deprive people of their voting rights. You can't even get on an airplane without getting strip searched by some pervert. People can't walk down the streets in some cities without being stopped and hassled by thug cops. Anytime a person is stopped by a thug cop the thug cop can shoot him and get away with it.

Remember the Korean war? How about Vietnam, Panama, Grenada? Bosnia, Somalia, Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, and now North Korea?

    That's not an accurate interpretation.

A better one is that while I don't agree with their stance, I believe that the limiting of free speech is far more damaging than speech that I don't like.

The purpose of free speech isn't for the speech you like, that has no need to be protected. What needs protected is speech you don't like. Even hate speech.

    - America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country can't just be a flag; the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then, you can stand up and sing about the "land of the free".

    From - The American President.

Again, this will be my last word in all these NFL protest threads.

Do you mean the guys demanding people be fired for expressing their opinion in public? Is that the left?

All I said was isn't it wonderful that the referenced person was allowed to express his opinion.

Your reaction belies what should be your understanding of my words.

Seems someone doth protest too much.

He asked his coach and team mates' OK.

    They gave it.

The far right hates freedom of speech, except their own.

factually incorrect. Not one person is claiming they have no right to free speech. They are free to take a knee and we are free to use our free speech in response to decimate NFL ratings and sales as is currently happening. Your right to free speech doesnt protect you from being criticized for it. Dont like the backlash, then dont disrespect the flag. Its easy.

I hope it continues personally, at least to a point where the league and/or teams are forced to make a decision. I just know how the general public is and people tend to talk a big game yet not actually follow through.

If everybody on the internet who claims they are going to quit watching actually does then yes the NFL would be in financial trouble.

:) Oh, my, AlphaOmega, are you going to be unhappy with the economic end of all of this.

Don't like the backlash, don't criticize others' right to free speech.

Of course not, they are disrespecting the flag, why would they care what the fans paying 500 bucks a seat think of them.

They are honoring the flag and the Constitution and our veterans by exercising their free right to protest.

Why do you want to shut off free speech.

Well to be fair businesses in general really don't care what you think as long as you're buying their stuff. NFL is no different they care about money not "you".

If enough people stopped paying for 500 dollar seats or watching the game on TV then they would care what you think.

Americans showed you this weekend in overwhelming numbers that they disagree with you. One out of ten who follows NFL agrees with you, and everyone else who does not follow football, probably less than 1%.

True, I don't know the NFL's financial situation nor do I know what their "red line" number is before they start making some decisions on how to handle this. I don't know if the NFL is one of those companies that can lose like $100 million dollars for the next 50 years like Nintendo and still be ok or if a 10% decrease in ratings and sales is enough to actually hurt the NFL in any significant way.
