All that currently exists. Are you against the OP suggestions?

There is nothing complex about registration and licensing of guns like cars....it's done all the time with cars and that has been going on for what, a century. The AWB simplicity was that no one was grabbing the guns of owners prior to the law going into effect, and the law did not affect private ownership sales in that category as well. Both solutions I offer are highly Constitutional, as they do not negate any Constitutional law.

But remember, gunners wailed that you can't mandate exactly how a weapon is "secured". Just saying.

I think it is more possible than many other proposed solutions
It would mean that gun owners would have to buy gun safes which would be a nice little earner for the NRA so you could get some backing there ;)

And this is what pisses me off about the gun nuts. Securing firearms especially around children is a responsible thing to do. Seems many want the gun without the responsibility

    It's not harming.
Failure to see that the problem is not guns is part of the problem.

Buying a gun safe and enforcing it's use are two different things.

You can mandate anything you want but enforcing your unfounded or unenforcible mandate just dies not work.

I agree with you that many of us gun owners fail miserably to secure our weapons. That makes thise of us who follow common sense and the moral code of responsible gun owners look bad.

Years ago once my daughter our first born just started walking I did not yet win a gun safe nor were they popular nor easily available yet. I made sure that the very few weapons that I had were never left assembled in the same place and the ammunition to those weapons were never in the same place nor reachable by a toddler or a young child. Example the main part of one gun with the receiver was in say high up in the ceiling of the basement the bolt in the attic which required pulling down a ladder to get up there and ammunition was stored in a locked small but heavy safe. Well impractical fir their use but safe from my daughgther or any visiting kids who as my daughter was never left unattended.

Hey you need to watch your kids. When my daughter was a toddler I caught driving trying to open an electrical recepticle box with her Fisher Price tiny tykes tools because she saw me changed it out a few minutes earlier. She very proudly said " look Daddy I do" one of her famous quotes when I caught her.

You hear things that aren't being said.

It makes me wonder how you can know responsibility.

Stop and think yourself? Get to the root cause and quit blaming whatever tool is being used...

Or do we start going after motor vehicles?

And many cars are designed for one purpose and one purpose only, to break the speed limit. But why moronic?, is saying "Nobody needs a 150mph car to go to the supermarket" any different from saying "Nobody needs an assault rifle to go hunting"?
