Flogger, You are all interjection and no substance. The majority of your posts that I have read are of the "Oh Yeah!" type of response. You are quick to dismiss others' comments and input but offer nothing from your side of the argument. You seem to want facts, citations and references yet I have seen you provide nothing but some simple bar graph. You don't offer anything to really help the situation. I have seen nothing from you offering an actual plan to do anything about what you keep pointing out as such a terrible problem. You have no viable solutions to what you point out as our gun problem. By which I mean you are not offering any gun law type solutions. What do you propose? If you think the best option is for everyone in the U.S. to turn in their guns or have their guns confiscated by the government then say that. If you propose comprehensive back ground checks and mandatory registration than say it. Then follow those up with plans to implement them; tell us how it will work in your opinion. Please don't take this as an insult. I mean it as an observation. Please show your plan. Tell how it will work. Give reasons. Give references. If you can prove to me that by me turning in my guns it will stop all crime, all domestic violence, all suicide, all murder; you can have them all including the AR15. Just trying to stimulate an honest discussion. My political views have changed over the years. Change this one! Rich
If the people of the united states are indeed so obsessed with killing, to the point they kill for the sake of killing, perhaps it would be best to refrain from engaging in any further arguments and insults with its members. Based on not only your own evaluation, but the continual evaluation of Donald Trump by the united states news media, it may be in the best interest of not only yourself, but also your country, to both cease and desist, and take a leave of absence from the forum. To hear the way the united states is discussed, they as a whole are simply looking for an excuse to launch a nuclear strike against someone.
Then such is evidence that law enforcement officers are not highly trained individuals, and that relying on them to provide for the safety of others is quite foolish.
After teachers had watched at least three Dirty Harry movies they however will be all set to face some teenager or teenagers with assault rifles I am sure. An the training of the cops who was outside to the school while the murders is being done is not what is in question it the courage of those cops that is in question. Of course with any kind of training they must had known that going up against someone with an assault rifle armed with a handgun is nearly suicidal.
I love how the bad guy is according to Gun Control advocates always better skilled and better armed so it is of little use to resist or use Arms...... lol
The current methods of trying to hold a non-bullet proof door closed or throwing your body on top of your students has proven suicidal already.
I'm with you on that. How is it that the bad guy is always more skilled than an honest gun owner? No bad guy wants to be looking down the barrel of a double-barrel 20 gauge with my 89 year old mom on the triggers. She may not be the most experienced shooter but she knows which end the lead comes out of.
Straw man. Bad guys (usually) have the advantage of surprise. I know I'd better say "usually" because you're good at coming up with rare exceptions. The advantage of surprise is a huge advantage in a gun fight.
And my advantage of surprise is I will pull a gun and shoot the bad guy. As you say I am good with the exceptions. A couple years back in the NW U.S. a guy walked into a smoke shop and pulled a gun on the clerk. The frightened clerk reached under the counter and came up with a 9mm and emptied a 15 round magazine into the guy. I guess it surprised him! We will never know.
Well of course it is, are you saying that because the bad guy might surprise you having a gun is useless? A few years ago in Washington state, four cops were having lunch when some perp walking in and started shooting them. All four cops died, only one got off a shot that hit the perp. By your logic, that means guns are of no use to the cops.
But his problem is that there are more criminals than heroes, so get rid of everyone's guns and we will have no more crime like in the UK or Australia.
All mass shootings except the Giffords' shooting occurred in gun-free zones. Therefore, when the shooter was taken down by a "good guy without a gun", it was because the Liberals disarmed the good guy.
guess you missed the news last night. A woman shot her mothers assailant successfully as he was was trying to rob them. Its a great video. Seeing the 2nd amendment protect innocent people while putting the criminal in severe pain and in the hoslital where hopefully he dies.
How does the advantage of surprise not apply to the individuals who are legally carrying concealed weapons? Those that seek to victimize others for their own benefit has no way of knowing who is and is not carrying, and potentially able to resist with deadly force.
I am not sure where I read this, but a pshycologist gun owner once suggested that if carrying and surprised by a bad guy with a gun, if you are able and have reasonable confidence in your ability to draw your weapon or skill in disarming an oppponent, start talking... say any thing. Your talking will result in your opponent hesitating for a brief second or so to process what you are saying, and the opponent’s brain will be diverted from a weapons response during that processing time. While it makes some sense, I haven’t made a leap of faith to go out to test the concept. However, I will keep it in mind as one more tool in the quiver.
I did a variation on that many years ago in my late teens, I was in a really bad neighborhood in Brooklyn N.Y. in me days of Television Repair, A guy came up to me and pulled a black snubby revolver, he was very nervous and had not spoken, I was unarmed, but very calm too, it all seemed slow motion to me at the time. I heard a Police siren in the distance, and I said, we should run, the Police are after us, I just robbed a guy ! ( lie ) The guy ran away, dropping his revolver in a trash can.... I never forgot that incident further convinced of the good of being armed.
Interesting opening post. Good to hear the thoughts of someone whom has experience in the situations.
