Your child says I'm gay. What do you do?

I just saw this thread and WOW !
Over 6 years have gone by.

However, I felt compelled to say a few things, it seems Heterosexuals, the ones hating Homosexuals seem to stick at a few talking points, reproduction, and there are many Heterosexual couples that cannot reproduce.
Hubby has a sperm deficiency.
When I was 13, a babysitter lamented how she wanted children, she was very beautiful, and started to cry, I also felt bad cried and hugged her.
Her husband had a low or zero sperm count.

Oddly enough, another sticking point is sex, many object to anal sex.

It is simply incredible that some here advocate violence and murder against Homosexuals.

Reproduction and anal sex are just lame excuses for bigotry. Somebody doing something they find gross in their own bedroom is none of their business. I don't recall if I've ever posted in this thread, but my response to my child being gay would be to support them. It's still tougher than the alternative in our society, but we don't get to choose all of our challenges in life.

 

That is why so many Gay people choose or chose to stay in the closet for decades and keep shut about it.
Much better than the alternative.

 

Luckily, my two boys worked out fine, they each have a girlfriend.

 

Scientificly, nature gave males an X and Y chromosome and females two X chromosomes. Gender, by nature, is binary. So you are either born a male or a female. If your brain disagrees, you are mentally ill.

If you want to cut a healthy leg, arm or nose off, you would be classed as mentally ill. If you want to cut a healthy penis or breasts off, apparently, it's called transgender.

 

If one suffers a homosexual child, they know the problems. Adults are not built to fully understand this side of abnormal behavior. The homosexual may not know it is abnormal since to them it is correct to be like they are. They may not ask anybody if they are homosexuals. They are very often living a very confusing life. Tell you how to find this out. Find out where they congregate. Then, since often it is at bars, sit among them and drink with them. Do not tell them you are homosexual. They can spot a fake damned near immediately. I can spot homosexuals pretty fast myself. Homoxexuals spot each otfher quickly. It probably the desire to pick up others that they show themselves as they truly are not too slowly. maybe a long time ago they were open but very slow to display. I think today they will be fast to show themselves hoping to arouse more homosexuals.

But watch them to see how disjointed the are and how troubled they are. Sure some might be very well adjusted. But they don't need to display as the others do.

Oh where did I gain my data, My homosexual brother had me meet him at times at bars. I saw it up front.

I also say this. I was never at bars hit on by homosexuals. But my brother Mike who was 8 years younger than me was hit on them at New Orleans. Mike might have engaged with them from time to time. He died too so i can't ask him today.

Okay...here is what is for dinner, how was school?

 

I have a "so your child is gay" prevention kit for just such an occasion! Included is:

1x knife
1x electrical wall socket
1x holy bible
2x 330ml bottles of holy water

 

And you claim this attitude comes from the bible? Is this your christian tradition? Is this you showing us what it means to be a christian?

All of these things are just tools to a purpose. If a natural tool does not suit somebody, who is anybody else to say whether it should suit them or not. Scientifically, people weren't born with gills or fins or wings either. But that doesn't make it wrong to swim or fly.

 

Enacting violence on somebody over something like this indicates personal insecurities.

 

Children (anyone under the age of 1 should not be sexual at all.

So announcing that one was gay at that age is like announcing they just got Susie down the street pregnant. Same reaction most likely.

 

With few exceptions... being whatever sexuality one is, is just the way people are.

We (humans) don't make or cause "gay" or "straight"... etc.

Some kids are sexually aware at earlier or later points in their lives.

I know a person in their 30's, who is literally struggling with being 'asexual'. We who are straight, gay, Bi (and so forth) may not understand or relate to that, but it is what it is for THAT person. And they didn't just happen upon this 'yesterday'. Although therapy may be required for them to accept where they find themselves... it isn't right/good to say that they shouldn't be 'asexual'. And the same goes for being any of the other sexual orientations. I suppose an asexual person might have to garner a different kind of consent than most could imagine... if they enter into a relationship with someone, but that's as personal as anything I could imagine.

If a kid thinks they are "gay"... then let them deal with it. Support and love them in all the ways a parent should support their child. I think that's the best answer.

 

We had 2 boys in our high school and 1 girl who dressed in fashions that were akin to the opposite sex. I guess you could call them "trans".

The girl turned out to be a hermaphrodite however. That is, she was, and we all found out about it after high school.

 

I am fairly certain that if any of my children or step-children were to tell me that they were Gay I would want to take them to this webpage to begin the discussion on where they want to go from there?

The VERY LAST thing I would EVER do is introduce a child to Christian ideas about sex....EVER. That would border on abuse.

 

OK.... .... I can kind of see what you mean by that...... but I am 99% certain that there is no Christian church that would enthusiastically approve of all of what near death experiencer Christian Andreason wrote about sex!

 

I would tell them to be careful. And they are still my child. And NEVER EVER have sex with ANYONE under the age of consent, or by force or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

 

So if you had a son that announced that he like girls that 14 and was dating a girl this would be like him telling you he got a girl pregnant?

I haven't read through the 14 pages of responses. But this is pretty simple and I'm sure it's probably been stated and restated here before.

Plain and simple. You tell your child or kid or teen, no matter their age, that you love them...UNCONDITIONALLY!

 

Same thing I tell my straight kids- use a condom unless you're trying to have a baby.

 

So before you'd do that, you'd invite the kid to do an unfiltered internet search on "sex". Got that about right, haven't I?
