After my delicious ham and eggs with Swiss cheese breakfast, I slept for an hour, then got up and ran a bunch of errands.

Now it is high noon, which is like midnight for me.

I really should be sleeping, so I will have some salmon and vegie with ramen noodles soup, a glass of wine, a shot of moonshine, as I usually do, and then go back to bed.

 

Will do, CC. Not leaving until the 8th... but sure looking forward to 4 days off this weekend!

 

I'll be headed for a little beach time around the 8th also. The astounded look on my boss's face when I told him I was taking a couple of days off was priceless. Me thinks when I return, may be a good time to campaign for a raise.

 

There are some days that you really don't want to deal with grit in all the wrong places.

Just paid a hotel bill that was ridiculous for 4 nights. I complained and the guy at the front desk said after Labor Day the rates go down. I told him I won't need the room after Labor Day.

 

They will both be close races.

Florida is a swing state anyway. Always has been.

Texas becoming a swing state has got to be really bad news for the GOP but it was predicted with all the Catholic Mexicans living there. The Trump message may be backfiring there.

 

After my lunch at noon, and a shot, and a glass, I went to bed and slept all afternoon for 7 more hours.

Just woke up again.

I am one day ahead of all of you all (the plural in Dallas for y'all).

I have Friday and Saturday off.

So today is my Thursday -- your Wednesday.

 

Goodness … Labor Day is already here !!

The summer is effectively over.

For me that is good because it means the beginning of deer and elk hunting seasons.

I have an elk tag for the first time in my life and will be looking for a medium sized 2x2 bull elk to drop and quarter.

Most people don't know this but with a deer you can drag the whole carcass out by yourself with just a rope.

With an elk you need to semi-butcher it into about 5 large loads, and then pack each one out individually. Each load weighs about 100 lbs. This takes special elk game bags. They come in sets of 6 or 7. Four of them in the kit are big and hold a fore- or hind-quarter. The other 3 are smaller and hold the neck meat, back meat, brisket, rib meat and heart.

 

All I have to do, is pick up a loaded trailer, deliver it to Home Depot, and then go home.

OK, so it has the right shape; but is it heated?

 

I was under the impression that like with Deer the carcus has to
bleed out.After gutting it has to hang somewhere and bleed out.
2 or 3 days helps to age and tenderize the meat.Unless the weather is
too hot.
I should know this because I saw sometime in the last year a father
and son movie about going after a big elk.The Father needed to
make sure his son { home from school } the ins and outs of how to
scout an Elk and then bag one.Elk usually live high up in mountainous
terrain and it's like a whole day just to get to where a big Elk lives.
That movie is -- Walking Out - { 2017 } an excellent movie.
It takes place in the wide open blue skies of Montana.

 

Can you carry a sidearm during archery season? I can’t, but being unarmed during the rut can be dangerous. Bumping into a bull moose during the rut can turn deadly. They aren’t in the mood to deal with humans traipsing through their breeding grounds.
