The UK is not alone in this idea and the United States is quickly heading there without Government mandate simply because of consumer choice and market economics. There is good reason that Tesla has become so popular and profitable.

Same is more true of Ford, however.

It's a dumb ass idea alone or not. Fossil fuel will become obsolete as newer better more efficient fuel sources are developed but mandates to force this before the technology is ripe is literally putting the cart ahead of the horse and doomed to fail. Electric cars as of now are smoke and mirrors fossil fuel cars in reality because when you plug them in you are likely getting charged from a fossil fuel power plant and then there's the issues with batteries and the mining and pollution associated with their production. Driving these things makes people feel good and feel green but it's all a sham and causes more damage than it fixes. I posted a link on this in another thread that shows mile for mile electric cars have the same CO2 output as gasoline cars plus the extra pollution involved with the batteries.

Tesla is still shedding money and having ti float a bond issue in order to produce their back orders for the 3.

Shortsighted individuals are at the very core of the problems with adaptation to this new economic reality.

Ah I see, we are idiots. because we chose the most efficient way available to use our limited resources over the more inefficient way to use our limited resources.
Yes, how short sighted of us not to realise that you are in fact Nostradamus and can see the future clearly.

It's obvious nonsense. Maybe one day. As things stand, electric cars hardly work. So to say that in 20 years something that doesn't work will replace completely something that does work is barking mad.

Americans copied our football. Don't get me wrong, I fuc**ng love football, but it does not have a place in America the same way baseball does not have soil here.

Everyone is trying so hard to Europize USA. Why? So they can lose their identity. That's why.

    And then...

    England muppet state: ACTIVATED

    ^^ This ^^

It won't destroy their auto industry. Cars are cars and the fuel they use is irrelevant.

    Oooops.

The Sulfur is in oil, not diesel.

All oils -- and there are many oils -- come in two flavors: Sweet and Sour.

Sweet oils have less than 5% Sulfur, while Sour oils have more than 5%. The majority of oils in the US are Sour, although there are several Sweet oil fields.

The Sulfur in oils is reduced or eliminated using a catalyst in the cracking stills which combines with the Sulfur to form Sulfur compounds.

Logic dictates that you sell the Sulfur compounds on the market, but Sulfur is rather abundant on Earth and the cost of the Sulfur produced from oil refining is higher than the cost of mining Sulfur or producing it using other commercial products, so oil refineries take a loss on the Sulfur.

Notice I said "oil refineries" and not "oil companies." That's because the vast majority of your oil refineries are not owed or operated by oil companies, rather they're owned and operated by companies that do not own oil fields, or conduct oil exploration to find oil fields, they're simply companies that refine oil. A couple of those companies, like Valero, also own and operate gas stations where they sell the gasoline they refine from oil.

Federal law bars the export of raw crude oil, so all oils in the US are refined into petro-chemical products like gasoline and diesel. Although it is possible to totally eliminate Sulfur, it is very costly, so a lot of Sour oils in the US are refined into diesel and gasoline for export to countries that aren't currently interested in the Sulfur content of their fuels.

    Doubt.

It takes a person like Trump to trash all kinds of environmental plans.
Seems rather far fetched that such a person shows up 1 year before the deadline.

In the end. I really doubt people give a rats ass how the car functions.
    They just want to drive.

In 2040 no one who made that pledge is expected to be alive.

It's an empty and cynical promise being made by people unable to enact it.

    Oh! For.......

The American right is not worried about Putin but pass one environmental initiative and all of a sudden it is the communist end of the world

Have you thought this might be a GOOD thing? With a known aim industry can gear up. Bittain being an island, is ideal for all electric vehicles
