It just seems strange not to pay the border patrol when your worried about border security.

Absolutely. That's why Trump can't find a Chief of Staff. Nobody wants that job for 170K. Besides you have to pay a lawyer out of that.

They will declare some government employees to be essential and they will continue working. It is not a complete shutdown.

Finally a reminder of what this thread in all about. Trump's fans are doing everything they can to derail the thread.

That was a reality show. Trump still thinks he is the host of a reality T.V show and the setting was the Oval Office. What could be more embarrassing for Americans than to have the President of the United States get in a shouting match with the future Speaker of the House and the Senate Minority Leader on a daytime television drama.

Trump put himself in a position where he was outnumbered two to one and the two teed off on him, even questioning the validity of his statements ... all for the world to see. That alone tells you how dumb the President is.

Pence was in the room and, characteristically, he put on his best rendition of a sphinx. Throughout the whole miserable drama he didn't say a thing.

Schumer made Trump admit that he would be responsible for shutting down the government a few days before Christmas over his border wall. Trump had to admit as well, that his party does not have enough votes to approve the wall in the Senate. He said he had the votes in the House, but that, too, is in serious question because of House Republicans who oppose it. When asked by the USA TODAY Network whether they support the President’s initial $1.6 billion budget request to begin construction, only 69 of the 292 Republicans on Capitol Hill said "yes."

    Apparently, Trump doesn't know this.

In other words, on daytime television, Trump admitted that he, and he alone, would shut down the government over his wall.

Honestly, how dumb can you be? Between the President and the vice-president, this was a classic example of how not to be the two leaders of a country.

    And that country is ours.

Only "non-essential" employees are affected. It's funny how the left thinks if the government shuts down that people will die. It's lunacy.

That was because Schumer and Pelosi did not want to embarrass the President on national television. They still have respect for the office, not the man, the office.

You are aware Trump has told over 5,000 public lies while in office. He is quite vulnerable because of his penchant for lying.

For example, during this ridiculous and embarrassing drama Trump bragged about how effective the wall is where it has been built. No part of the wall has been built. For decades there have been barriers along the southern border. Repairs have been made. Barbed wire has been laid. Bur no part of Trump's wall has been built. Trump lied again to Americans.

If I said what I thought of that comment, I would probably be banned. They condemn and embarrass the president continuously. I doubt that they would hesitate just because it was live television. If anything, they would jump at the chance.

There is no law that requires full disclosure of assets. If you want that, I would be glad to agree, if the executive, legislative and judicial branches had to disclose their assets, as well. It would be much more interesting to see how Congress comes in with little and within two or three terms ends up becoming millionaires.

Meeting with Russians in the white house is illegal? Wouldn't meeting with the Chinese be more dangerous?

I am pretending that you care more about facts than fiction. I see I was wrong.

However, I am also pretending that Congress wants to do something good for our nation and it's citizens. I'm pretending that they really are telling us the truth and that's why they would gladly have discussions broadcast to the public. There is nothing they do that we should not know about, unless it is strategizing a war or something that would harm the nation and it's citizens if others knew.

I am pretending that Congress wants to make our nation a better place and work with the Executive branch to resolve issues affecting the citizens without making deals that benefit them or their constituents, alone.

I am pretending that they debate and discuss the lawfulness of suggested changes in a civil manner and quickly come to some agreements that truly have major benefits.

I am pretending they are truthful and have nothing to hide.

Apparently, they do have many things to hide. Unless it is something super secret, We the People, have a right to know exactly what they are debating and doing. That is how we should be choosing who to vote for, not by the lies they tell which most libs believe.

I honestly believe what I said, largely because that is what they said. Criticizing Trump in absentia in an interview or an article is one thing. Doing it on live television in the Oval Office is something else entirely. Americans do not have see the give and take in the negotiations to avert a government shutdown. The negotiators will be far less candid if they are on live television.

If you can't understand that, you have a real problem.

But you are right with your last statement. Once they realized that Trump had set a trap for himself and he was outnumbered two to one with Pence sitting there like a statue, yes, Pelosi and Schumer teed of on him, including questioning the veracity of his statements.

Trump had never faced that situation before, but he is the one who chose the setting. Like I said, how stupid can you be.

Every President since Nixon has followed the custom of releasing their tax returns. Trump promised to do so. He has broken that promise.

In light of recent events, that begs very serious questions. What is he hiding? What does he not want Americans to know? Are their Russian issues in his tax returns? Will his tax returns reveal ties to foreign governments in violation of the Constitution?

There is no law that requires the President to disclose his tax returns, but that is irrelevant. It is politically expedient to do so because of the issues, along with others, that I raised.

Part of Trump's 55 to 60% disapproval rating is because a majority of Americans do not think he is honest.

In light of my post, yours is powerful reply.

You didn't say a damn thing. Insulting remarks are a tactic of Trump's fans when they realize they have nothing to say.

One of my strengths is be short and to the point. My response covers my attitude towards her and most republicans and many democrats have about the same opinion.

Geez, it appears you were wrong. The OP has now drifted to Trumps tax returns while blaming conservatives for derailing his/her/alphabets own thread. A sure symptom of a severe case of TDS.

What an interesting perspective. That millions of Americans who do not understand their own tax returns will understand one submitted by a billionaire to them?

    Pretty naive in my opinion.

Pelosi made one lame comment and Schumer sat there shaking his head. What are you trying to say by they out talked him. He owned both of them.
