    Bill Clinton shut it down for three weeks. Democrats seem not to mind that.

    The previous U.S. federal government shutdown was in 1995–96. The 16-day-long shutdown of October 2013 was the third-longest government shutdown in U.S. history, after the 18-day shutdown in 1978 and the 21-day 1995–96 shutdown.

    Schumer got Trump to admit that he and he alone will be responsible for a government shutdown just before Christmas.

    I thought the very same thing when I saw the look on Schumer's face. However, when it came to the shutdown, he did a number on Trump. Pelosi stood her ground, too. Trump had to be embarrassed by that, being bested by a woman on daytime television.

    They are just like any other group. Some manage their money well and some don't. It will create hardship for some, but they can usually get some kind of loan, if needed.

    This is an excellent example of two sides seeing what they want to see. I have my own views, of course, but it's interesting how two sides could see the very same meeting and each end up thinking they 'won'.
