Chamberlain completely sold out Czechoslovakia and the Czechs would of been no push over, even Hitler could not believe how easy it was!

Many American industrialists, men such as Henry Ford and Prescott Bush eagerly supported and financed the German rearmament and helped it build it's death machine. The motivation was not just financial. They took Hitler at his word that he was going to attack Russia and they saw him as a bulkward against communism which was worse than fascism in their eyes. Even as the war was being lost, Allan Dulles was helping ferret Nazi's out of Europe and recruiting them into American missile and rocket programs.

What makes you think I crave huge government? That is in your imagination. What I crave is government that actually serves the interests of the people not corporate wealth and power.

One major question. Were the people of England at that time prepared to be in a major war?

When that happened, it made perfect sense. And such acts would at the time gather huge fan bases in America. Americans admired the economy of Germany as much as the Germans did.

Mussolini had enormous popularity with his fascism.

Frankly they are the most attacked by Democrats who in general have run this nation since 1933 with few exceptions and in whose interest it is to fight back. Democrats revile and attack wealth and power.

America ran mostly by Democrats since 1933 have handed to America one hell of a powerful death machine. I believe a huge number of Democrats profit from this as well.

The people of Britain were resigned to a war in 38, the point is that Hitler was bluffing, his generals were not behind him and his army and air force not ready. Look at what he gained from Czechoslovakia, some of the best tanks amongst other things which were used against the French and British in 1940.

    There's no "object".
I'm sure that during & after the war no one would admit to shaking hands with Hitler.
I'm just interested in the objective & accurate account of events.

Hitler lost it when his supporters took his fear rhetoric too far and he did nothing to try to stop it, and the hate and fear grew and grew

today in the USA we had a small group of conservatives that chanted "blood and soil, jews will not replace us" and Trump calls them "Fine People"

Go knock on your neighbors doors and chat with them. Then come back to tell us you want them managing this nation.

Democrats talk the game but play it they do not. Watch them add to the base of your law. Sure you fantasize they want others ruled, but brother they mean you and me too.

Let me give you an example. Take down to your bank $10,000 to deposit your funds into your account. The Feds will find out so fast your head will swim. A law on the books thanks to Democrats. Democrats ran the house and Senate when that law was signed by Nixon.

But it was the Democrats law.
House speaker: John W. McCormack (D)
Senate President pro tem: Richard Russell Jr. (D)
    Senate majority: Democratic Party

For all you know, those people refuse to vote for any political party. They can't compare in numbers to Antifa which is truly ruthless and tries to run local areas using brute force.

Hitler was not objected to by many of the Germans for one good reason. They prospered under Hitler. When Democrats here thought they prospered due to Obama, they cheered him on and excused his failures. Same thing in Germany in the 1930s.

We see actual true prosperity today under Trump so we cheer him on too. But Democrats have hated him with their soul since the day he beat Hillary Clinton. By swearing in day, they had mobilised their million women marches. They hated him prior to him being president.

Republicans and Democrats both servoe the same master. I have a friend who calls them the two-headed Janus.

I would suggest that since Reagan, the Republican agenda has held the day and that Clinton ruled to the right and that Obama largely continued the economic and foreign policy of 43.

The, big government is evil, meme that has carried the day in both parties really came about in the Reagan era as a justification for tax cuts, deregulation and privitization. Both parties have for the most part followed through with this agenda. You can judge the results of this agenda just by looking at where we are at today in terms of government, equality and prosperity since the eighties.

If course the last thing they want is less government because the still need military and police to subdue enemies and protect priviledge and they still need subsidies to corporations and bailouts when they get in trouble

Government is not so much the issue as much as what kind of goverment and who it serves.

Not quite sure where you are going with this but in another post I present for your consideration that the two parties are a construct created specifically to create political theatre and the illusion that you actually have a choice of candidates that will serve your interests.

Way off topic but still relevent in a way.

We have far more to fear from big government than big business. IBM and GM can't take away your rights, or tax you, or jail you.

Freedom is a zero sum game. The bigger government becomes, the less freedom we have.

Terms such as used as you use them, right and left leave a sour taste in my mouth. As it should anybody wanting to master history.

We never find on the ballot those two terms. We do not find conservative nor liberal unmless a tiny fringe group.

It is a way to avoid the facts. We vote for Democrats and Republicans. The people voting on the fringe really do not matter one bit.

Take your Reagan comments. Jjimmy Carter (bless him) hit the pedal on deregulation. But for an odd reason, Democrats do not put a bit of onus on him, and only on Reagan.
    Tax cuts.

I maintain the lesser known tax program known as ACRS (accelerated cost recovery system) is the true driver of the Reagan reforms. As to cuts in taxes, he cut them for all of us. But the ACRS caused industry to kick into high gear. Suddenly people wanting to buy property to rent found it was a super good deal.

In a few ways where Republicans cooperate with Democrats they are Janus. But who drives them to be that way? We see the media whining at us daily how the two parties do not cooperate. Today we see the Media favors Nancy Pelosi. I watch a wide variety of media and they constantly share the Democrats views. Even on PBS they are Democrat leaning. I do not participate in polls but to the Media I do. They talk for me. They announce what we want done. But how? They check with a tiny number of americans. Trump proved that those do not speak for America but speak for their own self serving interests.

A good thing about Trump is he fights Janus.

Clinton worked with Newt Gingrich since to him he felt he would be popular is why he did.

A good thing happened during Gingrich. The contract with America. This was congress trying hard to reach out to those in the population who believe we get left out. i admire what Gingrich did and that Clinton himself ended up supporting.

What are you talking of "Privatization? This should be the main aim of the Federal Government. It keeps the public thinking they manage government.

Once again you seem confused Robert. I guess anything beyond Wiki or a few revisionist right wing historians is all a bit hard, isn't it.

The American people did not want Jews coming the the US, but FDR ignored them to some extent. Between 1933 and 1939 about 150,000 Jews emigrated to America, the majority originally from Germany. Between the Anschluss (do you know what that is Robert, or do you need the Wiki reference?) and the outbreak of war 120,000 Jews emigrated to the US, 85,000 of them refugees. It is true that many more Jewish refugees could have been admitted, but sadly public opinion in America was strongly against accepting Jewish refugees. That FDR was prepared to ignore that and let in any Jewish refugees is to his credit, though he could have done more.

I was trying to imagine our health system run just by Government yesterday. I think of agencies such as DMV, the IRS. the ICE, and on and on and imagine they built the hospitals barely sufficient to house the ill, doctors paid by Government and not by the public, pills made by Government who truly does not care one bit ... and bingo i do not want Government managing health care.

I fully agree with your brief analysis about big business. Business can't regulate our daily life. If they fail us, they become the next Sears stores. We all recall Sears as a mega giant company. We used to enjoy going to Sears since they had so much stock. And prices were pretty good. But then along came Amazon.com the great white shark of corporations and we enjoy Amazon a huge amount. But we put out of business Sears.

I understand some Sears stores are open. but in my area they are gone.

i do not talk the way you talk. I am not rude to posters.

Are you lauding FDR for 25,000 Jews per year getting into this country?

Be respectful or face the mods pal.

FDR could have allowed in those Jews on the death ship as it turned out.

Normally people associate Big Government to the Democrats goals. And they associate small government with republicans goals. Truthfully neither side manages any enormous changes, but the tweaking done shows how they steer.

Each of the two parties long ago mastered their own message system.

Democrats plead to the public they favor whom? It is a con job or the progressive party factions like Ocasio Cortez could never gain traction with her cohorts Chuck Schumer and Ed Markey in tow but for the progressives.

We republicans simply favor freedom. It can be for the small worker or the corporation. It doesn't matter since we favor freedom. Which is found in our founding documents.

    KEY FACTS

    • 1

America’s restrictive immigration laws reflected the national climate of isolationism, xenophobia, antisemitism, racism, and economic insecurity after World War I.

    • 2

The United States had no designated refugee policy during the Nazi period. It only had an immigration policy. Those escaping Nazi persecution had to navigate a deliberate and slow immigration process. Strict quotas limited the number of people who could immigrate each year.

    • 3

Though at least 110,000 Jewish refugees escaped to the United States from Nazi-occupied territory between 1933 and 1941, hundreds of thousands more applied to immigrate and were unsuccessful.

Poland was the end of a string of Hitler actions to taking the Rhineland, breaking up Czechoslovakia, and invading Austria, before invading Poland.
