Totally separate conversation (does money bring happiness - yes, and no).

    You can't buy happiness.

    But you can rent it.

Nope. Its a specifically American problem. That leads to conclude that it has to do with it's crappy policies.

Philip Alston, the United Nations special rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, asserted in a 2017 report on an investigation of extreme poverty in the United States that "The American Dream is rapidly becoming the American Illusion since the US now has the lowest rate of social mobility of any of the rich countries."

I don't think he can relate to hard work and education.
Seems his life is a handout.

He appears to hate the idea of equity and access, also. He wants meticulously fair school entry systems like the one in question .. designed specifically to provide high level education to 'the poor' .. to ignore the (often impoverished) kids who've earned their way in via sheer hard work, and give their spots to his personal faves just because. It's EXACTLY the same as those rich parents bribing their kids into college.

I made a rather solid case that poor parents have a lot less time to help out their children, and it has nothing to do with lazy. And because of that, their children don't get a fair / equal chance. All you got so far is to demand poor parents should do a very unhealthy lifestyle in order to "create" time, thinking they can do the dishes and cleaning when their children are trying to sleep. And that's just unreasonable. While your idea of a fair chance is, is that the middle class can just help out their children outperform poor children when their IQ is equal.

    LOLOL

My kids did the dishes and cleaning, while they were awake.
    They also did their schoolwork.

Again, you are asking for EXCEPTIONS. That's no better than bribery.

There is no more equitable and fair system than a colourblind and moneyblind entrance exam. It is TRUE equality, in action. If 43% of the kids at the school come from POOR families (as they do), then clearly poverty is no barrier to academic success. The difference is that those kids have parents who WILL sacrifice for their kids. Sacrifice sleep, tv watching, fun times, whatever. They'll do whatever it takes. THAT'S what you have a problem with .. let's be honest. You're like those rich hollywood parents, who think they shouldn't have to do it as hard as the 'peasants'.

you keep focusing on money when culture is the much bigger contributor
you need to admit it school and academic achievement isn't a high priority in black culture
compare that to cultures which school and academic achievement is a much higher priority like Asian culture

no its a culture problem why some members of one culture thrive in academics and members from other cultures fall behind and it has not a dam thing to do with money or race its particular cultures and the priorities within those cultures

We already had the discussion if poor parents have enough time, and you lot concluded that they just go have an unhealthy lifestyle in order to help out their kids with homework. Just retarded.

Comrade Dumbkoffski no doubt would prefer the inefficient family be abolished and children all be raised in collective programming centers where all is da equalz.

Indeed. I am making an argument how children who aren't that privileged as others should offered a place in these high standard high schools when they just missed the level of acceptance. I have been making this argument for a while. Good job noticing this.

again... this just retarded to demand that parents must have an unhealthy lifestyle in order to give children a fair chance. The US government uses it to torture people in Gitmo and break them into confessing stuf.

And how are they supposed to pass the courses, if they can't pass a test to get in.

No, I'm DENYING that it has anything to do with money. Other people here think it's about money, or race. I'm the one who keeps repeating that it's entirely about personal choices and lifestyle (ie, culture).

It's actually the opposite. He's opposed to equality. He wants to make exceptions for favoured individuals.
