    I see you find it unusual. It's pretty ordinary in my circles. Nothing special at all. We have several academically selective public schools in the area, one of which is a very large high school. When your kids attend these schools, they're necessarily mixing ONLY with similar types. Ergo, it's the norm. I imagine if you're a parent or teacher in the regular system, such kids might seem unusual. Your problem, not mine.

    I have the information directly from specialist teachers. All of whom have post graduate degrees in specialist teaching. Are you also a PhD in gifted education?

    It's interesting (and a bit sad, if you have kids) that you find the idea of academic ability so unusual that you effectively don't believe it. I hesitate to consider what kind of educational environment you're accustomed to. Of course, my own lack of exposure to the mainstream renders me ignorant of that perspective, so there's that. Either way, I don't tell lies about my children, and you're painfully naive if you think 'smart' kids are somehow better or easier.

    These close, personal friends can't be bothered to point you in the direction of some support for your claims? Maybe you could start by asking them what an IEP is.
