    It's an international force that is operating there and the British did respond in this case. The next one should face the the power of the entire force.

    The Iranians will respond, but not openly. The Brits will suddenly find their ships heading the wrong way - sort of like the American sailors when Obama held back the money due them.

    You know there are other ways to conduct wars, especially when nations are technologically advanced.

    There is always that possibility, however, the political timing is poor. The very last thing that needs to happen to the current administration is for a war to break out ahead of the 2020 election.

    Allies yes but we should force the brits and everyone else to defend their own interests in these isolated situations. I'm sick of everyone expecting us to take action and then criticizing us when we do so.

    When Iran dies something similar to one of our ships I would sink the Iranian ships involved. If Iran launched an all out assault on the international fleet I would do the same but in these probing for weakness efforts I'd force the country involved to step up and take care of business or ask for our help before we come riding in with our calvery to save the day. Just my opinion.

    They are doing what used to be called 'twisting the lion's tail" but they haven't gone so far that we are going to war over what amounts to vandalism. They could sink a ship if they want to go to war. I believe that they do not and the US doesn't either.

    The Iranians are saying UK is afraid because we have to protect our ships; at least we can.
    If Iran tried protecting one of their tankers, the world wouldn't let them.
    There's a reason why this Iranian tanker the Brits caught went the long way around South Africa, because it didn't want to be stopped in the Suez Canal by some other European country.

    And then there was the case of Norway's pride and joy, which cost their whole defense budget for the year slamming into a tanker. It happened at the end of the war games in the North Sea. But then again accidents do happen.

    Look if Netanyahu wants a war with Iran, then that's his business. We have no reason to get involved, and if Britain is stupid enough to get involved, then it's their own business not ours.
