I got my first gun as a birthday present when I was thirteen. It was a single shot Stevens 22. I still have it. I might have killed a squirrel or a rabbit or two, but that is about it.

None the less, single shot flintlocks were pretty much the standard weapon for the world’s armies.

The gun you mention was expensive, rare and difficult to produce (not to mention problem ridden).

These things are irrelevant to the point. Repeating weapons existed in that time as did innovations in other technologies. To think the Founders didn't know that technology existed and didn't anticipate advancements and improvements in existing technology is ludicrous.

What, your Google stop working for you? I bet there are videos of liquor stores selling to minors too. Would you want an actual cite for it also being illegal?

Lewis and Clark also carried by alt-leftie standards an "assault rifle" capable of the rapid firing of 20 rounds of .46 cal balls with three more magazines of 20 rounds each. https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Girandoni_air_rifle

I watched the video you posted 3 times and am simply not convinced that is a legitimate portrayal of what happened.
The "13 year old boy" is a paid actor following the instructions of adults who are professional film makers with the usual MSM anti gun agenda.

I've been to countless gun shows in VA, know many vendors who are either private individuals or licensed dealers and simply don't believe that a 13 year old child could gain admittance to a gun show without adult supervision and buy a firearm without an adult guardian being present especially within a period of "...a few minutes".

I think that it is noteworthy that the only firearm that the coached child actor tried to buy was one that is among the safest, least lethal and ideal firearms for a child interested in learning how to shoot: a bolt action .22 rifle which is less lethal than many air rifles.

Again, I feel that the adults making this video played a much greater role in its production than we are led to believe.

In a serious debate, it is customary that the person who makes a questionable accusation supports it with a link. Usually without asking, but... one can ask, when they forget. Turns out the poster couldn't support their claim. But... that's how it goes.

I know all this "serious debate" business is probably new to you, kid. But you too could get a hang of it. However, you would need to try really really hard. There is a lot to learn

That video is five year old, Published on Feb 24, 2014. Today 8/14/19 it is illegal to sell a rifle, rim fire or not to a minor under 18 years of age in the state of Virginia.

It must have been legal to sell a rifle to a minor in Virginia in 2014 or it is an HBO fiction piece to stir controversy.

Oh noes, the dangers of a bolt action .22. Alert the critters, because that's about all that are in danger from that gun or that kid. Nor did you see the whole of the transaction, and liberals being a bunch of dishonest asshats to 'prove a point' is nothing new...

The only point he made is on the top of his head.

I don't listen to people advising about guns or gun laws that don't know f@#k all about either.

Hold it there... were you planning to make a point in reference to your first sentence? Of course he's an actor! Did you think he was actually trying to buy a gun, and cigarettes, and porn, and... What's your point?

    Why?
Why would they even have to?

These days 21 is the new 12, 25 is about the time the party's over and things are getting real. Being on one's own at 17 is a real eye opener and a crash course in adulthood.

The fact that they put the amendment process in place proves that they did. They intentionally put in place a system to make changes to the constitution as the need arose.

They are ridiculous. We have more gun related crime since passage of the Firearms Act of 1968 than before. Laws have nothing to do with gun related crimes since they are commited by criminals who care nothing for laws. We have developed an angry and intolerant culture in our country. All the laws in the world won't fix that. We have to change how we relate to other people. We may even want to consider shutting down the internet.

I don't know what the age requirements are for buying a gun but I suspect it would be a state regulation not a national one. I used to buy guns by mail order prior to 1968. It seemed pretty normal to me. I used to hunt in the morning before walking to school.

Our 33 year old daughter was paying her own way the day she graduated from High School. Put herself through College and never looked back. I have no issue with our children voting at 18. I actually believe both of them are much more involved in politics than either their dad or I were at their ages.

We are in agreement. We just need to ban them all. It's the only sensible thing to do. But since we can't do that just yet, we can go by parts. Start by making as sure as we can that 13 year olds cannot go out and buy a firearm. As well as anybody under 21. Just like they can't go out and buy a beer.

This millennial generation that will be voting in 2020 are way more politically active than the generation before, some of that is Trump, some of it though are political issues like gun control

That is the Parkland generation. These are the kids that have grown up with Sandy Hook and Virginia Tech

Think the kids that had to do these drills are going to be pro gun?

The NRA funded his campaign to the tune of 30 million and usually that much would buy a politician for life but we know Trump and if the money does not keep flowing he will not maintain his loyalty. And I just love that I CAN post this......the NRA is nearly bankrupt

It proves people will believe anything that they're told.

It's against federal law for anybody under 18 to buy a fire arm.
