    Maybe you could think about uncles, aunts and step family members also but you are focused on a small group and maybe you should just accept the facts that they thought they were tough guys that could carry and not follow safety first rules..You can shove yer psychiatric bullshit where your head is if there is room.

    Not just my rights, every single American's rights. Something you don't seem to understand. Your side merely wants to exploit the suffering a moment to push an agenda that bypasses the Constitution, that is unacceptable. If you haven't noticed, as soon as your yammering and screaming is done, cooler heads prevail and they realize what you wanted was unconstitutional and it gets shelved until you can exploit some other tragedy...

    Possible. I do think the cop triggered him but why is an unknown. The guy may have already been paranoid and maybe strung-out on drugs, maybe meth, booze or both? Carrying a loaded rifle is not uncommon. Why carry a rifle unloaded? It would be legal as long as he wasn't convicted of a crime. Being on probation for 2 years as reported though would normally disqualify him from possessing any firearms. Any misdemeanor that carries a sentence of up to 1 year or more is usually enough. It doesn't have to be a felony.

    There is no excuse for randomly killing a bunch of innocents though. It is not normal even if he was high or drunk. The guy was physio, the cops and courts either didn't see it or couldn't do anything about it.

    It is difficult, if not impossible, to discuss social issues without identifying who is behind the particular movement and what the ultimate objective is. The bottom line is that criminals don't give a damn about laws. Some steal guns from police cars. Will a background check or red flag law stop that? Murder is illegal but countless people commit it everyday. It is extremely unlikely that gun control will make people safer so what is the true purpose behind it by the people who are leading the effort to make it happen? Will you benefit from living in a police state?

    The shooter Seth Ator an Odessa native was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and evading arrest in 2001.He plead guilty and was sentenced to 24 months probation.This charge would not prevent him from legally buying and owning guns in Texas.
