Back in the day Colt made a good revolver or two. The Python comes to mind.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

Sadly they are very different today as a company.

How would they know who owns them? Oh, that's right 'universal' BG checks, defacto list of gun owners.

Meh, springs are cheap. I'd rather replace springs every once in a while than find myself needing to reload.

Random info I've picked up from being on the ranch as a kid (a tomboy I certainly was, lol)... A lot of times a 16 or 20 ga. w/ bird shot is used for dispatching beef w/ the muzzle within a few inches of the eyes to ears 'X' spot. Apparently it's better than a slug as it enters the skull as one mass then all the shot sort of flies off in every direction upon hitting the 'grey matter' scrambling everything. works even w/o getting the angle perfect for severing the spinal cord. Just like w/ humans a cerebellum shot with a single bullet disorients or worse but doesn't necessarily mean light out...

Yeah Im just wondering about reliability for a home defense setup.

Up until this spring, AR's weren't really a viable choice in Ca due to 10 round mags.

A sympathetic judge allowed people to purchase standard capacity mags for a brief window so now things have changed.

Yeah everybody I knew there just said **** it and went 45 or 10mm. Some 357 sig.

If you've only got 10 rounds, go for the cannon.

Which of course makes home defense even more dangerous for the non-criminals.

Sadly this was presumably the case w/ JFK who was likely killed by the frangible .224" .223 Rem or 5.56mm NATO bullet fired out the the SS rifle a few car lengths back & not by the 6.5 Carcono that the FBI was so keen on using as a cover for their tragic manslaughter accident.

I forget what larger caliber can fit only ten rounds in a double stack .223 (IIRC) but you can stamp it that caliber and be legal, though it still functions as a hi cap mag, for the smaller round.

I'm pretty sure they all have their own unique followers (small plastic doohickey at the end of the mag spring) i.e. 6.5 Grendel, 300 Blackout, AR .30 etc.

That they do, but I saw an article about it, it was a large, centerfire, bottle necked cartridge, .45 something.

458 SOCOM, 450 Bushmaster etc. - they all are proprietary to their followers. But they aren't 'bottlenecks' though...

    That's it, the .458
I googled it but all the results are other forums, not sure I should link those here. Anyhow, it appears a slight mod with a dremel, does the trick.

    7 fit in a 20 round AR mag, 10 in the 30.

300 blk works in a regular 556 mag just fine.

60 grain Black Hills v-max is what “lives” in my carry/home AR. Some people don’t think it is a good enough penetrator but like you I’ve put it through it’s paces—it’s good ammo.

.223 is legal in every nation on the face of the Earth, even the UK.

.38 is a joke that legit nobody uses anymore except as plinking load. I assume you mean 40 caliber, as 40mm is way into artillery territory. The US considers rifles to end at 20mm.

40 caliber is a good choice. Very powerful, speedy handgun round. Mainly has dexterity going for it, as a handgun platform. Police departments have adopted it as a middle ground between 9mm and 10mm.

Hard to pass on an SBR AR-15 though. 10" barrel will do very nicely.
