I'm not sure people are appreciating the seriousness of the current situation. This is a compilation of resignations of police officers across the country mostly because of a lack of support by higher-ups. This combined with truckers not wanting to deliver to cities without police protection makes me wonder how cities will cope with increased disorder and decreased police forces:
Good riddance! They thought they were above the law. They thought they were untouchable. And for decades they have been. But no more. So now they don't want the job. What a shock. There are plenty of people to replace them.
You and the rest of enlightened progressive liberal Democrats should take an oath of not ever requesting services from hated police. Deal?
Why is it presumed that the left doesn't like police? Why is it presumed that we want to see an end to them everywhere? Why is it presumed that a request for restructure/reorganization/retraining is equal to dismantling the police? We see a system that isn't working - and hasn't for some time. That does not mean that we no longer see the need for a police force - just a different style of policing. Why is that so hard to understand? Are we supposed to just accept a broken system and not want to see it fixed?
Probably because we haven't seen a bunch of republicans or Trump supporters in general marching and screaming they don't want no more police.
Okay, so I guess I'll have to be more specific. Why do you think that the left wants the police abolished completely? I'm not asking about the left versus the right - but rather, why you think the Dems in this country want to see the end to all police?
The root of the problem isn't the police. The root of the problem is the criminals. The message I am getting is that police are bad and criminals are good. I am sure I am not the only one with that perception.
You don't think that there is corruption in policing? You don't think that police are given too much of a pass in many lethal shootings?
Ha. The people who think they're above the law and untouchable are the criminals who use race as an excuse to commit crimes. The people who think they're above the law and untouchable are the people who rioted, looted and burned things to the ground. The people who think they're above the law and untouchable are the people who tear down statues and deface buildings.
I think there is always going to me a certain amount of corruption in anything. However the amounts today are so minuscule and almost always uncovered and prosecuted. Its not reason to dismantle and rearrange an entire system. Its like saying there are a couple bad eggs in the chicken coop so lets kill all the chickens. What is being demanded of cops these days is completely idiotic. Serve and protect but if you get in a bad situation where you have to put your life in danger and use your weapon against someone in a certain minority group you will get fired and harassed for the rest of your life. Its no wonder cops in inner cities and minority areas are resigning in droves
And I think we can disagree on that. Which is fine. I believe that corruption within policing is a whole lot more than just a case or two, here and there. And it isn't just about black and white. I am in full support of any movement to review/assess current policies and make recommendations and changes to those that do not benefit the communities they are paid to serve and protect.
Use the same logic the left uses when illegals and Muslims slaughter people. The left says the percentages of bad illegals and Muslims is insignificant relative to their population. If you want to get rid of all the police, then for the same reason, should we get rid of all illegals, Muslims and refugees? It really would make our country a safer and cleaner place to live and raise a family..
Most of the lefties that are making demands don't have any idea what they want. They just want something different which I find comical because in every one of the cities that have had major protests and been burned and looted have been run by democrats for decades so what the hell have those leaders been doing over the last 50 or 60 years that now suddenly needs changing? I see three forces in action here. 1. The disrupters that just want a more socialized system 2. The con artists that see this as a way to wring money out of the system to line their own pockets, ie. professional race-baiters Al Sharpton and Jesseeee Jackson and the BLM leaders. 3. The freeshit gang just waiting to get their opportunity to loot and burn. As long as cities have city clowncil leaders like this, (fill in your own pronoun a PF rules me from doing so), America will continue to slide into another Venezuela.
Where did I say I want to get rid of all police? Why is that your conclusion when I suggest evaluating current policies is a good thing? If illegals or muslims have slaughtered anyone, they should be tried and convicted. I have no idea why you think I would support Americans being slaughtered by either group.
If you read my post again, you will see that I was discussing 'policies' that will benefit the communities - not police themselves. Those policies should be about protection and assistance.
I consider the unsolved murder rate of 80% in many of these communities as a much much much bigger issue..... I mean a several orders of magnitude bigger problem than the police department. That unsolved murder rate is a reflection of the abject terror people in those communities live in, where to rat out a killer could mean death for you and your family. Can you get a single Democrat to acknowledge this? Can you get a single Democrat to propose a solution? Can you get a single Democrat to propose ANY solution to ANY inner city problem? The only thing I am hearing from Democrats is white man bad, orange man bad, cops bad and send poor inner city black kids to white suburbs. This qualifies as leadership?
