Had a bit of a heat wave come through a few days ago here in Minnesota, but then rain and wonderful coolness hit. Got the lawn mowed yesterday without breaking a sweat and it's a nice 60 degrees right now. It will warm again, but at least it's far from the crazy weather people put up with in the more tropical regions! At least in summer :D

his Renewed - *Honeymooners - updated in the mid 60's.
With the Sammy Spear Orchestra and of course the lovely
    June Taylor dancers.

They both oxidize. Galvanization is a surface coating of zinc, the steel is dipped in a molten bath.

Taking my new boat out on prairie Creek down in Charlotte county well it's not new but it's new to me I'm putting electric trike together for a guy and he gave it to me instead of a $100 payment. This is prairie Creek preserve there's a five mile dirt road to get here and off the main highway sure as hell hope the old van gets me home it'll be a long walk. There is literally no one around for miles and I've seen should have bought my old black powder cap and ball out here to shoot . kayak just does fit inside of my minivan which is good because I don't really like lashing it onto the roof seems like it would hold but why take the chance if you don't have to IMG_20210622_173509.jpg

Practicing with my David and Goliath sling, I accidentally hit this fence but you can see what a sling stone at 100 miles an hour would do to a human The Rock was probably about 3 oz in weight. And no I did not touch it that's exactly what the Rock did to it. And that's just a rock imagine 3 oz of lead. And some of my specially made sling bullets explode on impact, you can do a lot with cap gun caps IMG_20210622_175126.jpg

Well I just got to see more of the creek and I bargained for the area where I launched the kayak is a fairly steep Bank the creek itself is not very wide but it has a good flow and you have to go around a lot of down trees well anyways I went as far as my fat ass cared to go upstream cuz that's easier when you're coming back right but anyhow I'm getting out of the boat everything's going fine I get on dry land I grab the kayak and start dragging it up the slope then I make the mistake of taking a small break the next thing I know here's the boat sliding right back into the creek so if I want the boat I've got to go out and swim and get it which is what I just did I should have known better I mean hell it's a slope after all I never said I was real smart

    *From a website

The vast majority of this 1,603+ acre preserve is comprised of a mixture of upland habitats that have been well maintained by prescribed fires. The diverse array of habitat include scrub, scrubby flatwoods, palmetto prairies and pine flatwoods. There are also small areas of herbaceous marshes and improved pasture on the property. Prairie Creek traverses through the center of the property. The property provides habitat for several listed species of wildlife, including the Florida scrub-jay, gopher tortoises and eastern indigo snake.

Prairie Creek is a tributary of Shell Creek Reservoir, the source of drinking water for the City of Punta Gorda and parts of unincorporated Charlotte County. The Creeks provide 8,000,000 gallons of potable water per day to thousands of residents. The property also supports high-quality habitat for the Florida scrub-jay, gopher tortoise, and other rare species including State listed plants. Lands adjacent to and along Prairie Creek have been designated as areas of conservation interest by the Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program, the Southwest Florida Coastal Conservation Corridor Plan, and SWFWMD.

Mispronounce Pedernales and you will be corrected. It is like a lot of words that whoever lives in a certain place gets to define how it is pronounced. Lafayette is pronounced at lleast three different ways in the south (that I have heard..)no telling how many different ways north up north.

For Context there is the Tallish, always smiling Cleetus McFarland { not his real
name } from Nebraska. He is very popular on YouTube because he's a motorhead.
Loves Fast anything.Mostly cars. Will purposedly break stuff in order to pick
up a few more ponies { horsepower }. Finished last weeks annual event for
true blue Hot Rodders. He won.It helps to have a twin turbo car that makes
2,ooo h.p.In Rocky Mountain Race week { 250 hot rods } that have to travel
1,ooo miles from one race track to the next.Using the same car they race.
Gruelling.Last week it was in the 90's. Heat is the enemy of a race car.
Earlier in the month Cleetus and his every present buddies went up and
down the Tennessee River in their smallish Aluminum Jet boats.
    Good southern scenery.Spooky and creepy.

Rattlers can strike as far away as 10 feet.Their bite hurts and paralyzes.Left unattended
{ snake bite anti-venom } will probably mean death or with a copperhead
{ less toxic } or Water Moccasin ... amputation.

Now yer talkin'.I used to catch butterflies. My neighborhood buddy had a
butterfly net his mom made him.He was very fast on his feet.He used that
net like a pro.Had a nice butterfly collection.I don't see butterfly much these
days.I saw a Ladybug yesterday and I was gonna catch.Put it in my house.
It was on the window of my Pickup truck.I was polishing the truck and
thought It'll be there for a few minutes. But it done left.
Last Fall I saw a few wooly bears and couldn't catch.I was out motorcycling.
I usually catch a couple woolies each fall.Use a shoebox and fill with grass
and twigs and little flowers.Stick in the basement so they can hibernate.

So a 3 ft rattler can fly 7 ft thru the air to bite you? The bite of elapids is what you are thinking of.

When you throw a rock thru dense tree canopy, you can hear the rougher stones buzzing and watch small branches and leaves fall as the stone cuts a path. If you hit a trunk or large branch it makes a satisfying thud. Fixing to go kayak this area and see the rookery. This is where I regularly catch bull sharks.
