I'd prefer to have evidence the baby did indeed have a heartbeat when he aborted it. I'd prefer to have evidence that the mother's life was not in danger.

This are things I'm going to have to prove in the lawsuit. Right now he can recant and I'm not sure if the lawsuit would make it to a deposition. It might, depending on the judges. The doctor certainly didn't make it easy for people to prove that he broke the law.

    This is theatrics not courage.

I've read some of it, and never saw what you claim...

All I'm saying is the claim cannot just be - "Hey, I read some doctor said he did something"... Somebody's gotta put a little legwork in here to file the claim.....

It's neither theatrics, or courage... it's simply doing his job and providing a legally allowed service...

What don't you like about it? I know what I don't like about abortion and can clearly and concisely state it, I do repeatedly here. How about you are you one of the not very view who do not like abortion or one of the very few that do whom you are talking about?

I'm one of the not very (few) who do not like abortion. But I'll defend the right to choose that option all day long...

Breaking poor and illegitimate laws is the duty of citizens. Civil Disobedience is our duty. That we have largely failed miserably to do so partly explains the mess we're in right now.

That's one way it's done with any controversial law.

Is a person who is 6 feet tall more alive than someone who is under 4 feet tall?

I'm gonna guess you'd say yes.

    Good for the Doctor.

    Just to clarify,

He isn't a criminal until he gets convicted.
When the law is overturned, he is not a criminal.

    Simple ?

Apparently they are seen as lesser human. So they would have less rights.

No matter the law, the doctor did the right thing.

Breaking bad law is the right thing to do.

So the ability to write up a petition is the definition of life now?

    Interesting.

Are you referring to the 6 footer or the under 4 footer ?

I asked YOU, YOUR opinion : Does someone under 4 feet tall have more rights than someone 6 feet tall?

Why would you see either as "lesser humans" ????

Tell me - does someone who is brain dead considered to have the “right” to end their life or is that left to the relatives to decide? Does a two year old have the right to vote in an election? Dies a three year old have the right to free speech in the middle of a crowded theatre? Does a four year old have second amendment “rights”?

Doesn't that support the idea that the way this law has been written is impractical? With any normal criminal offence, if someone made a direct public statement claiming they committed a serious crime, the police could (and would generally be expected to) investigate. They have the powers and resources to access that information and establish whether a crime has been committed. A private citizen doesn't have those powers of resources and so typically wouldn't be able to gather sufficient evidence to bring the required civil suit, even with a full and entirely viable confession.

The law has been created in such a unconventional and convoluted manner (to try to circumvent the constitutional and political issues) that it has created something pretty much unworkable.

Will said brain dead person make a full recovery in oh...say 9 months or less? Do you have the right to kill someone who can't vote or does not have the right to own or handle a gun?

    Interesting...
