So tell me about my situation. Where I am located? How far I am from law enforcement? How accessible are my guns? How difficult would it be for an intruder to get access to them? How difficult would it be for an intruder to find me and my wife before I have access to the guns?

I think they don't "hype" the gun epidemic enough. It's not the media that produces mass shootings. It's guns! There should be national coverage every single day because it's happening every single day. Media should list mass shootings that occurred during the week like they used to do with servicemen who were killed in action. But the press stops emphasizing coverage until children are killed or there is a massive amount of dead. Insistence that there is a gun epidemic in this country should be highlighted every day. It's the only way to stop gun lobbyists who put profits before human life.

 

So looks like you finally admit that killing IS the only real function of guns.

 

And, of course, no debate makes sense to you unless it's about you.

You could not have said anything more absurd. Car manufacturers don't KNOW if a poorly designed seat belt is going to kill somebody. But they are held liable because they SHOULD know. Same for gun manufacturers.

It is not a poorly designed gun that kills people. It is a poorly designed person that gets killed in commission of a crime or a poorly designed criminal that kills someone. When a seat belt fails, they do not get rid of the whole car. They fix the problem with the seat belt.

 

I know of no responsible gun owners whose purpose is to kill as many people as possible. It is just the opposite.

Interesting data. However, you claim that you do your own research but it is clear that you haven't in the case of media coverage. There are plenty of research on the media's role in mass shootings. I suggest you read some of that.

Why do you think that mass shootings have grown from a few per year in 2000 to what they are now while at the same time, gun violence overall is down (at least until the last two years)? I suggest that culture is a much more important factor than gun ownership and the largest influencer of culture is the media (including, and maybe more importantly, social media).

 

Media coverage is not the topic of this thread. Get back to me when there is a thread about media coverage and I might (maybe) have something to comment about that topic.

You make a claim, and you provide a chart. However, your chart doesn't address your claim. So I have no idea what you're talking about.

And of course our gun culture has plenty to do with mass shootings.
