And a nation's economic condition is a direct reflection of its citizens, in combination with peripheral concerns, like workforce education, natural resources, manufacturing capacity and capability, healthcare system(s), etc., etc. "Shithole" countries can have a number of problems and deficiencies based on those peripheral concerns, but, generally speaking, "Shithole" countries are the way they are because they have "Shithole" citizens....

Fortunately, ALL of those factors can be positively corrected with enough effort and determination on the part OF those same citizens!

As far as being breeding-grounds for pandemic diseases, though, some of these countries are so far gone that help must come from other countries -- like the 'rich' ones in the "First World". Otherwise, the stability and health of all humanity is constantly threatened....

I haven't gotten sick since it started two years ago. I am just smart about it. I know several vaccinated who aren't careful and have gotten sick and spread it to others.

The economy isn't destroyed by the unvaccinated. It's destroyed by democrats having an inappropriate and over the top response to people being unvaccinated or getting sick.

 

Unvaccinated who limit their contacts are also doing their part to cut the number of new cases, the metric that makes people limit going to "places with faces." It might be worth noting that vaccine passports also limit folks attending "places with faces." A restaurant loses because of vaccine passports and people staying away because of covid. What difference does it make to the restaurant? You lose either way.

The only thing that actually works is limiting the spread. If we get effective treatments, we may be able to have people change their perception of the risk.

The economy is going to be in big trouble if we stop handing out free money while covid runs amok.

Who wants to go on a cruise if you can't get off the ship because the ports of call are worried about passengers with covid?

Anyone who is serious about getting the pandemic under control has to address the fact that vaccinated people are spreading the virus. In fact, most infections are spread by vaccinated people. That's why it is surging, even in the most highly vaccinated areas, because the vaccinated are spreading the virus. We will never get the pandemic under control until "the left" figure that out. But, they're more interested in spreading misinformation and using the pandemic for political objectives.

We can't simply 'reinforce' systems that depend on personnel acquiring many years of formal training.

 

Those people have always had access to that stuff. They've also had two years to lose weight and work on their Type II diabetes.

We did it in New York City. Army and Navy facilities and personnel with years of formal training. We do that all the time when the problem is floods, or tornados or massive fires so it isn't a new concept. There has just been little effort to organize and deploy such groups. Maybe because the horror story hasn't materialized to the degree it would need such action?

 

I never mentioned vaccinated/unvaccinated, and those early 'scares' on the healthcare system were just alerts. You have no idea what's happening, I can see that. You can't provide more staff, when the maximum number available are already on deck. You can't train a doctor or nurse in two weeks, or even two months.

You don't have the socio-political structures which allow for fiat 'reinforcement' as they do in China. You have chosen small Govt, low intervention. You either accept the parameters of a paternalistic Govt (loss of 'freedoms') and get insta-hospitals fully staffed, or you get what you will soon have.
