It appears as if the Supreme Court/conservative Republicans/Evangelicals are doing all they can to rollback a woman's right to a safe, medically supervised abortion. The restrictions put into place in Texas and Mississippi are only the beginning, IMHO. If things go back to pre-Roe vs. Wade days, poor women will be forced once again to seek back alley abortions. Or be forced to bear babies that they don't want or can't take care of. Of course wealthy women will still be able to get abortions, just like they did before Roe vs. Wade. What do you folks think? Will the clock be rolled back on abortion? Should it be rolled back?
The Supreme Court/conservative Republicans/Evangelicals love babies BEFORE they are born. AFTER they are born is a different story. The babies and their Mommas ae on their own once the babies are born.
I think the Supreme Court will try to compromise so as not to overturn the Roe v Wade decision. I suspect they'll fiddle with the point of viability.
That man is a personal hero to me. A run-away slave from Virginia settled in my hometown of Elmira NY before the Civil War. His name is John Jones, abolitionist, promoter of the Underground Railroad, a man of principles, a man who believed every human being has to be treated with dignity, even his enemies. https://www.stargazette.com/in-depth/news/local/2019/10/29/underground-railroad-operatives-life-chronicled-elmira-museum/3929470002/
If Roe v Wade goes down only women with means can go to states with liberal abortion laws, those with less means will be forced to give birth to babies they cannot afford that need more state assistance. Is that what you want right-wingers? But that aside, It will increased the the proportion of unwanted children, children with absent fathers and women driven into poverty. Is that what you want right-wingers? Ideology over quality of life. I don't believe you would choose that for yourselves but for the poor.... .
Perhaps those babies from unwanted pregnancies should be given to the fathers right after they are born. Why should the woman always be the default parent?? Better still practice birth control if one does not want to get pregnant. Then the abortion issue would be moot.........and applicable only in cases of potential gravely abnormal babies. In reality..........with today's modern medicine there should be no unwanted pregnancies. ( just carelessness)
The number of abortions could be greatly reduced if fathers could be held responsible for pregnancies, preferably within a family. America desperately needs a moral revival. 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
I think that if fathers were held responsible............as they should be.........there would be a lot less unwanted pregnancies. and both parties should practice birth control if they don't want a pregnancy. an abortion has its place........but it should not be a form of birth control
I think more men should tie a knot in it - that would certainly solve the problem But sadly a vast majority are completely misinformed about birth control
Sooooo…… Think on this How many options are there for men when it comes to birth control How many options are there for women? And the industry is not really interested in developing an effective male contraceptive because that might reduce sales to women
I don't suppose we want to talk about those Democrat/Progressives in five states who have been changing the law to let women have really really late term abortions. But sure, focus on only two states if you want.
really good pint............so it is EDUCATION (accurate information that is seriously lacking.) Reproductive education human biology should be taught at the appropriate age and in schools..........by public health staff........who can do it matter of factly and without any "belief" biases. How and what the young learn about sex and reproduction affects their attitudes about it for life.
In reality? You're not there. Fathers have and continue to be held responsible for being baby daddies, but it is a long convoluted process which protects the "supposed" father. To get child support you need to..... Establishing paternity (determining the child's biological father) Finding the non-custodial parent Establishing a child support order or making changes to an existing support order Establishing an order for health insurance and medical support for your child(ren) Collecting child support payments Determining the amount of past due child support "America desperately needs a moral revival." I think that sentence has been used for the last 300 years. Safe reliable available birth control use will indeed stop an unplanned pregnancy, that is primary directive of Planned Parenthood. It has clinics in urban neighborhoods with sliding fee scales and expert information about birth control products.
That's exactly the argument: pregnancy happens because of irresponsibility. Moreover, I see Roe V Wade misrepresented all the time by pro-abortionists. Roe V Wade only permits unrestricted abortion in the first trimester, and we are far beyond that with the modern day left who want abortions at any point.
Two more states just passed abortion restrictions, part of a wave of legislation nationwide. Track these bills state-by-state here. As the Supreme Court considers a case that could overturn or significantly weaken Roe v. Wade, Republican-led states are moving to restrict abortion and Democratic-dominated states are moving to protect access. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...Q.mdZa0RVOENNydYMv5GFxdiU6rjEJGy7U72H3Z-2clmM
I apologize in advance if you run into a paywall. Why there’s still no new birth control for men It seems to be a combination of factors, some technical, but most of them probably deeply ingrained biases at different points along the way.
DeSantis signs Florida's 15-week abortion ban into law Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law on Thursday a Mississippi-style anti-abortion measure that bans the procedure after 15 weeks of pregnancy without exemptions for rape, incest or human trafficking. The bill, which goes into effect July 1, does allow exemptions in cases where a pregnancy is "serious risk" to the mother or a fatal fetal abnormality is detected if two physicians confirm the diagnosis in writing. https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/14/poli...6juGTaLWxT5Y7RufWwA8Peg6s&bt_ts=1649952124736
Rubbish! I am betting the author is yet another poster who has no idea what the failure rate is for most contraceptives during “typical use”
