Does anyone really doubt that the President and the office are not treated with contempt, by some, due to the color of Obama's skin?

Just like he is protected by a few because of that skin color. The "you dont think racism exists" talking point is just as over used as the race card.

Well, it went a bit beyond "some", and that's where we get into the discussion. Her words were more like

Well, her opinion is wrong, flat-out. Heck, when I get out of bed and look up the latest news, when another Obama scandal pops up my first reaction isn't "What's that Black guy done now?" My reaction is "What's this power-hungry idiot done this time?"

See, here's an experiment I'd like to try on Oprah. Ask her what her thoughts are on Obama drone-bombing everything this side of Narnia. Ask her what she thinks about using the IRS to punish everyone on his enemies list. Or the upwards spiral the NSA has seen in terms of a power-grab. Or Benghazi. Or - well any number of scandals. It might be interesting to see her try to defend Obama on that basis. See, it looks like she's the one who looks at Obama thru a race-filtered lens, while the rest of us are looking at what he's DOING, and don't like it at all. But that would be too difficult for Oprah to defend - so instead, she dismisses these concerns and goes for the "Well, they must be racists!" defense. Because now she'd have to acknowledge Obama has done some pretty evil things, and she's not capable of admitting that.

Yes - I dream of a day when Oprah judges Obama based on the content of his character, rather than the color of his skin.

Try again, Billy ... She never said anything about contempt or hate.

“There’s a level of disrespect for the office that occurs. And that occurs in some cases and maybe even many cases because he’s African American. There’s no question about that and it’s the kind of thing nobody ever says but everybody’s thinking it.” Everybody bomac? That is the lie I speak of[/QUOTE]

No, Billy, I am the one claiming that YOU were spreading the lie. She did not mention "hate" or "contempt".

Oprah can only play a race card if she was claiming that blacks were superior to whites.

She is stating an opinion based on her life experiences and what she sees happening to Obama. I agree with her but that is only an opinion.

You have no idea what the race card is.....

"Playing the race card is an idiomatic phrase that refers to exploitation of either racist or anti-racist attitudes by accusing others of racism."

Ah . . . but what percentage of what population and of what political persuasion? Are you talking about .09 percent of -- say -- lefthanded basket weavers in the state of Massachusetts? Or 25 percent instead of the entire Republican Party's voting constituency?

Well if they do for that reason, they're cretins. But do you want to have it both ways? Do you want to be reminded how he became such an unqualified, inexperienced, and incompetent President? His two qualifications were an ability to read from a teleprompter, and his skin color. Does anyone think Chris Mathews' leg would have gone all tingly over a white guy saying the same thing? Does anyone not remember Biden's tag of 'clean' and 'articulate?' That's liberal PC codespeak for a black guy who talks white! It wasn't conservatives talking about the skin color of the candidate all through that 'historic election!' It wasn't conservatives fretting about whether Obama was 'authentic' enough. It wasn't conservatives who remarked that Obama's success in polling was the first time in their adult life they've been really proud of their country, and it wasn't conservatives who jumped to their feet in a standing ovation for it. We could go on for hours...

The way progressives, liberals, Democrats and the media (redundant, yeah) continuously stymie the achievement of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s worthy and admirable dream is depressing. Why did he even bother.

Lets get one thing straight about Palin: She was Governor of the biggest welfare state in the union, she was a mayor of a small town that had no debt before sdhe came in ( and by no means a large city) after she left she put them in massicve debt @ 21 million. LOL George Bush could not even run a baseball team that daddy bought him. I think Obama had a little bit better record between a C student who got his grades bought and ruined every company Dad ever bought him and a woman who went to 5 colleges to get on degree in what basiccally is basket weaving.

Obama was elected because of skin color. He is also hated because of skin color. It's a double edged sword.

Ms. O. should consider the Black on White racism. Don't deny it. Ruminate on it in a while.

Ms. O. looks at white people and assumes the mirror of her Black on White racism.

Is it possible in the 21st Century to dislike a Black person, such as the first Black President because he lied to me without invoking I am a racist ?

I dislike Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson & son, Barack Obama, for their deeds and not the color of their skin.
And I refuse to feel apologetic for it.

Oprah was banished from the White House by Michelle because she was fat. I think she's just trying to get back into their good graces or she's just vying for publicity.

The issue was relative experience at leadership and management on a national level and I consider a governor, a mayor of a mega city, and a U.S. senator and Representative to be functioning on a national level in regards to the seriousness of their decisions and the possible consequences of the same. Based on those issues Palin gets the nod over Obama in regards to the DIFFERENT offices they were going for. Palin was adequate (just barely) to be a v.p. whereupon she would have had ample time to learn the ropes. Obama was just barely ready to be vp; but he was not ready by experience in 2008 to be president . . . as subsequent events proved.

Yes they were. She did not say all white Americans. She said "some...maybe even many" Her "everybody" at the end of the quote means that everybody knows that there are still racists and that they react to Obama because he is African-American.

What is wrong with her opinion. Are there still racists in the U S? Do they disrepect Obama because of his race?

I am white. So you might want to compare my answers to hers.

Great. Didn't happen. No problem. And what about Benghazi - I think that things have been fixed since Benghazi.

Gee, I do not have race-filtered glasses. I look at the facts.

BTW, that "rest of us" could get you in trouble with the "rules posse".

God, there are a lot of assumption in there.

Please acknowledge the person from whom you are basically lifting your comment.
