    Iowa governor signs nation's
    strictest abortion regulation

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds on Friday signed a law banning most abortions if a fetal heartbeat can be detected, or at around six weeks of pregnancy, marking the strictest abortion regulation in the nation — but setting the state up for a lengthy court fight.

The Republican governor signed the legislation in her formal office at the state Capitol as protesters gathered outside chanting, "My body, my choice!" Reynolds acknowledged that the new law would likely face litigation that could put it on hold, but said: "This is bigger than just a law, this is about life, and I'm not going to back down." . . .

    Okay, fine.
    Christians are against abortion.

What happened to the historical, Christian option?
What happened to those Charity, Maternity Homes and Adoption Agencies
Christians use to manage without gov't assistance.

How about a little more ole time charity from Christians who should offer the alternative.

You can keep it for that.

Not like the woman had a choice in that.

I've supported this home for years through financial donations at my church. I know some of the staff and I know couples who have adopted children through them. They are still around.

    Thank You. :applause:

    Now.
How to make such Christian Charity Homes more available. More common.
Possibly with adoption options that do not necessarily shut out the biological mother.

    Thoughts?

It in any case this can not be enforce on anyone that have a few hundreds dollars for a plane or bus ticket out of state.

This is only able to attacked the poorest of the poor women in that state.

I am old enough to remember when only one state had open abortions and I think it was New York state and they was selling travel packages that included a nice safe abortion.

IF it passes and IF it actually works (it won't) then the good old citizens of Iowa will have to pay more taxes ( :) ) for Welfare, SNAP, WIC and all those entities that help support poor children....

Funny how Republicans say they don't like Big Government until they think their religious beliefs can be forced down other's throats...the governor is an anti-rights pig.

I pity the poor women if this passes but especially those who get raped ...being forced to bear a rapist's kid....like being raped again by the filthy governor..

Children of rape have less rights? Please explain.
Maybe we could make them slaves or indentured servants while allowing life.

Christians are only against abortion if it doesn't include their mistresses or teenage daughters.

They seem to have exceptions for rape and incest, but this is still incredibly dark ages (Pre 1970) to me... I really hoped we had left all this garbage behind...

    SNIP
The Iowa law provides exemptions for abortions during a later pregnancy stage to save a pregnant woman's life or in some cases of rape and incest. A woman would have to report a rape within 45 days to law enforcement or a physician, and incest would need to be reported within 140 days.
    ENDSNIP

But this is what happens when you allow this element to run our government(s)...

Moronic statement on your part. If protection is effective 98% of the time and the married couples of the state have sex a combined 1 million times a month, guess how many thousands of unwanted pregnancies occur. It ain’t rocket science.

I agree with the sentiment here, but realistically, thats going to increase the instance of false rape accusations.

You are aware are you not that most rapes happen by someone known to the victim?

And do you know what makes me maddest about that statement?

    You are blaming the victim

And saying that it is OK to try to rape someone because it is thier fault if ther do not fight you off

It is something that you might find on INCEL

Happens here in Aus. Happened in the U.K. When Ireland had restrictive abortion laws

But I hate to tell them

There is another reason why it will not work

    Privacy

Woman goes to the doctor he prescribes mifepristone but she is eight weeks pregnant not six. How is it proven in court how far along in her pregnancy she was? Are we going to insist on ultrasound scans first?

She is admitted to hospital for a D&C because of a "threatened miscarriage". Who is going to determine that that was actually a viable pregnancy?

The nice thing as far as the Republicans lawmakers are concern is that they can made the religion people happy and yet know that none of the women in their lives or the lives of the people in their social circle will need to carry an unwanted fetus to full term
