And they have armed guards at their conventions. I don't know of any Reps wanting to arm the students but they do call for more armed guards at schools and specially trained teachers who could be armed. Why do the Dems oppose it?

It does, and it has for many years. That’s ok, you’d prefer to use one-off examples of why the gov should be the only ones with guns and who will always save and protect you from baddies.

Wrong. If the parent of the shooter raised their kid properly……do you have kids?

What about the rest of us who are out in public, where any random nutjob could attack? **** us? Bloomberg's life is more valuable than ours?

The best protection against baddies is to have laws in place that are tough enough to prevent them from getting guns.

Wait…did a guy who bitched about losing his abortion access just complain about dead children?

Because the Dems know that the problem is the proliferation of guns.

    Great quote.

Send it to the parents of the 18 little victims, they will surely appreciate it.

That people with mental problems shouldn't have access to guns?

so then they get knives and bats and oh you’re just making this up. There’s no way to prevent everything, and you can’t even keep baddies in prison from getting weapons. Why didn’t the gun-free zone law work, may I ask?

Call me when you get the prisons clear of all weapons.

    You're a pro 2A?

You just have to save up for a bodyguard.

    What's the problem?

This is an outrage having 18 children and 1 teacher shot and killed in a school shooting. These things have happened years ago and now it's happening again. It looks like school children are not safe anymore and they have to look out on who might be shooting at them.
The shooting suspect was only 18 years old. He was the same age as the shooter that shot people at that Supermarket in Buffalo, New York. This is a devastating situation. You have to ask yourself: What is the world coming to? Could this sort of thing happen in your town USA? Think about it.

You probably have a point on no purpose and nothing to believe in contributing to this. Though I don't think tolerating trans people is a factor.

Is it just mental illness in general? Frankly, what is needed is data. And then the data can drive the policy, and the policy can be evaluated with data. What is with people just saying, "Oh that sounds good" and implementing policies without any regard for the facts or outcomes?

And it's also possible that it could not be prevented, or it would require a complete, multi-generational change in our culture. What does our culture value? Not integrity, community or excellence, but money and vanity. Things out of reach for many.

If knives and bats were as effective at slaughtering people as a gun, mass murderers would use them more often.

I sympathize, but there is no way to quantify this one way or the other. The 2nd Amendment gives you the right to possess a weapon that can stop me if I force my way into your home at night with evil on my mind. You may not want that right, or you may feel that on balance possession of a gun creates more danger than it prevents. Studies are mixed on this.

But the people who rob and burglarize have not typically complied with the gun laws that are countenanced under the 2nd Amendment, or they have forfeited the right due to a felony conviction. Many of the African Americans, probably most, in Chicago who die from a shooting are killed by people who obtained the gun illegally. In other words, repealing the 2nd Amendment, or overruling the Heller rule, would do nothing to prevent scofflaws from keeping their guns and using them against you.

There are as many or more guns than people now. And now that the cow has left the barn, I see no way to reduce the danger of guns in the hands of criminals (who, again, don't enjoy 2nd amendment protection) other than to have more concealed carry permits issued to non-criminals who consensually undergo rigorous background checks.

What would you propose that is both workable and constitutional?

So for you, Americans are crazier than Canadians, English, French and all other advanced nations that have strict gun laws.

Or maybe American lunatics are the only ones who can get a gun so easily.

Great. I’m sure you’re raising them to be able to take a punch and not lose their marbles over little things. We see how people are really losing their self control over pronouns which anyone @nd everyone should be able to shrug off. Same with all the other small and tiny things that some people magnify into giant problems. I think road rage is a symptom of losing control over relatively nothing.

How I raise my children is irrelevant to the topic of this thread.

If one of my children ever becomes mentally unstable, I hope he or she never has the opportunity to get a gun that can kill dozens of people in 2 minutes.
