You obviously have never heard of the separation of powers written into the Consitution

Congress writes the laws and the president enacts them

I realize that it never occurs to the sort of people in Trumpworld that the sorts of things people say to one another in bars or over the back fence belong on the world stage.

It doesn't take balls or guts to say idiotic and uninformed things. Most of us do it all the time.

But the fate of nations and the business of government don't depend on the things that regular Americans say to one another.

    Any fool can mouth off.

But when the fool is the leader of the free world, casual remarks have consequences.

My only issue with this line of reasoning is that I think it prescribes a level of intellect and strategy to Donald Trump that I sincerely doubt is in his possession.

You didn't forget the white players. You chose not to mention them because it didn't fit into your "black players" anger.

So...each side is dividing, but only the Democrats are truly dividing, right?

And what Trump haters are fond of overlooking are the Obama EO's he's rolled back, the conservative judge he put on the SCOTUS, the meaningful bills that Congress managed to pass (ex., the VA reform bill), pulling the U.S. out of bad international agreements, changing Obama's appeasement-oriented foreign policy, etc.

There are extremes on both sides. On one hand, there's his "loyal fan base" that says "he's an awesome President because he signs bills" and on the other hand there are the haters who refuse to acknowledge what he has accomplished, refer to him as a reality TV show host/star and otherwise spew their own hatred and hypocrisy at the man. The latter are no better or worse than the former.

    Remember personal responsibility?

Paul Ryan is the leader of the House and Mitch McConnell is the leader of the Senate.

When Congress fails to put major legislation in front of him to sign it is Congress' fault. The Senate's abject failure to pass a FullRetardCare repeal and replace bill on his desk is a prime example of this. You can blame Trump for Congress' failure to pass even a skinny repeal till the cows come home, but at the end of the day John McCain, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and perhaps Mitch McConnell - the man running the Senate - are responsible for that failure.

No - you assign credit and responsibility where they are due, and that applies to Congress, as well.

His EOs have nothing to do with what I posted, Talon.

When Congress passes bills and hand them to him to sign into law, it's a win for him. When he can't lead Congress into passing bills to hand to him to sign into law, it's their fault.

You can't have it both ways. Either he's winning, or he's failing.

Please, I thought you weren't going to call the ACA that to me!

A good leader (which Trump is not) would have had the majorities in both Houses have a bill that he could sign by now. Sitting on his toilet seat Tweeting out his anger towards McCain and McConnell, having surrogates like Jeanne Pirro and Sarah Palin go after Ryan, is not by anyone's definition of the word "leading".

Trump is a disaster. He's failing his supporters and the American people badly.

    Jake's comment isn't interesting, it's disingenuous.

The issue has never been the right to protest, and confusing it with disrespecting the flag, anthem and what they stand for is dishonest.

It's the only tack Trump's detractors can take. It's stupid and dishonest but that's all they've got...

No, the Democrat side is the side of division. They are the race/class/sex-based party of hate and division.

Someone put it in your head that this is not a black issue when it clearly is

But nothing I say is going to get through to you

Can you admit that peaceful protest is also a tradition?

Setting aside the notion that "wealth equals intellect" is the reasoning of a moron, did you know that his inheritance would have turned into more money than he is currently (allegedly) worth if he had just stuck it into a general index fund.

Out of a mild curiosity Mac, when is the proper time for a black person to protest?

    I have already told you

For professional football players its during the off season

For others any time they are not working for me

Imagine walking into a retail store and the black employees are all on one knee or wearing signs of protest instead of doing their job

I say that I would like to purchase a pair of shoes or buy a new car

"OK" they reply "But not until we first discuss systemic white racism in the police department and why America is a racist country"

Wait...the off season? So they can only protest a few months out of the year?

Yes, which is the same time that the NFL allows them to beat up their wives or girlfriends or drive drunk and kill someone like Michael Bennett did

NFL players have ample access to the media before and after their games. Many are celebrities and the press cannot wait to
    publicize their views.

Using the playing field itself as their personal soap box
is hijacking the game for their own purposes and used to be against NFL policy before Goodell and the other supercilious billionaire
team owners decided to pander to protesters at the risk of irritating the people who buy their product.

The only way the NFL will learn is to feel the sting of discontent in their bottom financial line.

Yes, but put in in perspective.

Donald Trump only cares about seeing his face on cable TV and what they are saying.
On the one hand, you could have a fact based list of news. The candidate Trump backed in the Alabama special election is about to have his hat handed to him. The GOP health care bill is going down the tubes again. Kim Jong Un is thumbing his nose at Trump, and Houston is underwater, the Keys are gone, and Puerto Rico is in ruins (who cares?, they're hispanic).

Or you could have all the pundits wringing their hands and shouting in feigned outrage over "taking the knee".

If you're Donald Trump, and you don't care if you have all the gravitas of a game show host, which would you pick?

They know that every single one of you will be back in front of the TV come playoff time, if not before.
