Hey genius, you are right comparing NFL football to college football is a fail, because the quality of football and the execution is so much higher in the NFL. And do you know who the best team in the NFL is currently? The Green Bay Packers. They have not scored less than 24 points once this season!! They have an elite offense, yet their defense is ranked 31st in the NFL against the pass. They have the number 1 scoring offense at 34.7 points a game!! Alternatively their scoring defense is 14th!! The year New Orleans won the super bowl their defense was 20th in scoring defense.

The idea that good defense always beats good offense is an idiotic notion, parroted by idiot armchair football fans, who don't actually know anything about the game. Well executed offenses, with great QB play will beat great defenses quite often. Sometimes cliches are cliche because they are true, other times they are cliche because unthinking people parrot those cliches without thinking!! This is undoubtedly one of the times when the latter is true!!

What does that have to do with anything? LSU and Alabama are the 2 best teams IMO. However, there QB play is often embarrassing, and in the game they played the execution was poor!! If the 2 teams can improve their execution in the championship game, then it may be a great game. If not it will be another poor and uninteresting game!!

    perhaps to you

but here is a curiosity, based upon your avatar, how can you say the last LSU/Bama game wasn't interesting when some of the best "football" I've seen have been 0-0 draws??

OSU vs OU will hopefully be a good game

I say OU will win by 10 points

I hope LSU can stay focused against GA. LSU by 17

All this season does is reinforce the fact the there needs to be a playoff, and until there is one, the "national champion" will be a bit of a joke. Alabama and LSU are probably the 2 best teams in the country, but until they play the other highly ranked teams, we don't know!! OSU, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Boise State, Stanford, etc deserve a chance. It may turn out we would see a Alabama LSU game anways, but then at least it would be legitimate. Sadly a playoff doesn't seem to be in the works anytime soon.

I understand that the kids are going on holiday break but it is possible to have a tournament like in basketball

look at the joke of a game being played tonight

UCLA vs Oregon for the PAc 12 championship

why even bother? Now, USC vs oregon again would have been interesting and to think, UCLA with a losing season is going to a bowl game

I know why...I root on other MWC teams because if they make a BCS bowl guess who also gets a payout? My school.

Where have I heard this before? Oh right, it's what you said would happen to TCU against Wisconsin, BSU against Georgia and Oregon against Auburn. How did those predictions work out for you?

It's only a cliche because the game has changed to a QB and offense dominated league. When the Raiders and Steelers were at their peak the Vikings had a great offense and won a grand total of zero Super Bowls. But now that is correct, you can have a pedestrian defense and still win.

On another note....ahhhh the sweet nectar of my Running Rebels kicking some Tar Heel arse. Not only beating the #1 team, but pretty easily to boot.

Had they not had to play LSU then they could have been a one loss team as well and be in the middle of the debate.

Their shortsightedness of scheduling a team who they could never beat has come back to bite them.

Never beat? :fart: While I think LSU is certainly better, if Oregon and LSU played 10 times, Oregon would woin 2-3 times. They would certainly win at least 1. The idea they could never beat them is idiotic, and shows a detachment from the reality of sports.

LSU graduate here... Yes, I'm very happy the Tigers will be playing for the national title. The SEC is such a powerhouse, you've really got to be good to win every game. It'll be interesting to see if they play Alabama in the BCS title game. Anything can happen there.

    that is open for debate

my post was do you think Oregon is kicking themselves?

Seriously, what is there to gain for non-conference teams to play LSU or Bama?

In the case of Oregon it doesn't look good to have a loss against them.

Bama shouldn't be playing for the BCS.

OSU beat more ranked opponents and had some other stats that were better.

    OSU deserves a shot.

And Arkansas got crapped on too. Among other teams in the TOP 10.

Why bother ranking teams at all? We got #11 VT playing #13 Michigan. Neither are BCS material over #6 Arkansas.

    Explain that.

BSU got the shaft for the Sugar Bowl b/c they thought UM & VT would bring in more money.

But Bama deserves another shot??? Why not OSU?

I'll take a stab at Bama vs OSU

Bama is the only team who can go toe to toe with LSU

There is absolutely no benefit to the players, the viewers, the student body of the fans to send yet another sacrificial lamb against Bama or LSU

Bama and LSU are the best 2 teams and i think Bama will take down LSU this time. Me thinks you wanted OSU so you could be certain of an LSU victory

wrt to Boise and arkansas, yes, they both should be in BCS games.

I would have rather seen the Hawgs against OSU. That would give OSU a better chance to run up points and make for a close match.

OSU does deserve a shot and BSU got screwed. They'd beat VT or UM 7-8 out of 10.

Come on now sec. Don't make the weak argument of "Being scared". That is dumb.

Bama is good, but they didn't even win their own division, much less their own conference. At least OSU won their conference. The BCS made it a point yesterday that their rankings don't matter by choosing non-Top 10 teams to play in their bowls b/c of money. Michigan and VT are not BCS teams.

As for Bama, Saban is a piece of (*)(*)(*)(*). He talks out of both sides of his mouth. In 2003, it was all "you can't play in the title game if you don't win your conference". What was his reason this time?????......lol.

I don't care if Bama is the best opponent to play LSU. Fact is, they didn't win when they had the chance to play LSU at home. That should have knocked them lower then it did and out of the title game. They didn't take care of business and are now being rewarded for it.

OSU beat more ranked opponents then Bama did and won their conference.

To say the 2 best teams are playing is moot after the BCS bowl selection last night. If losing to #1 makes you #2, then shouldn't Arkansas be #3? They lost to #1 & #2. They disn't even make a BCS game....lol. But we got Michigan and VT......lmao!!!!

    Terrible.

I agree. LSU won 2 SEC titles already this year. The Bama game and the real SEC title game vs Georgia. Now they have to play a 3rd one????

Give OSU a shot. I think they earned it.

BSU, Arkansas and 2 others got shafted. Plain and simple.

If Bama wants to play for a title give us a 16 team playoff 1st inside the bowl games. Hell at least then the BCS Top 10 would have substance behind it and not randomly picking and choosing the teams you think will bring in more revenue. Didn't Utah play Bama in the Sugar Bowl not so long ago??? How. It a following did Utah have??????.....lol.

yes, BSU got the shaft. Why in heavens name do we get VT?????????

I am all for a playoff with the top 4 teams

    4 v 1
    2 v 3

LSU would beat Stanford and get the BCS game
Bama would beat OSU and get the BCS game

Stanford vs OSU in the Fiesta for the consollation game (although I'd rather see them in the Rose bowl and stop the tradition )

So, although a 4 team playoff would yield the same results this year, I fully support it for the future.

The MAACO Bowl?! Really??!! The #11 and #13 get to play in the Sugar Bowl, but the #7 team gets to play against an unranked team?! F*** THE BCS!!
