So age discrimination is acceptable to you, when it comes to the basic right to life?

My point was to give as precise a definition of the term as possible from a medical dictionary. I wasn't implying that your definition wasn't technically correct. I was trying to eliminate the vagueness that may have been fostered by questions like "Guess what 'one' means in this context" and statements like "a very young one".

Well there can be no doubt, even scientifically, that a zygote and every stage that follows is a human being.

I am not the one claiming it is a homicide .. you are.

The simple fact that women are not charged with homicide after having an abortion is "proof" that the law does not consider abortion a homicide.

    duh

"In imminent danger of serious harm or death" is not a requirement for any other homicide (I assume you mean legal). If you are given the authority by the state to commit a homicide then it's not illegal. In some states simply being in another's residence without their permission is justification for them to kill you.

Abortion is not a homicide. It is legal, therefore it cannot be murder. A fetus is also not a person as defined by law. Perhaps lifers should pay attention to the law instead of ignoring it. It doesn't do much for your arguments.

    Homicide is not necessarily murder.

You cannot make abortion even a homicide. What happens when a woman doesn't take care of herself during pregnancy and her baby dies? Should she be charged? Should a woman who smokes during pregnancy be charged with endangering the life of her child?

Homicide can be perfectly lawful. Killing someone completely by accident or killing someone in self defense is homicide.

Then every abortion can be justified as self defense. That sounds fair to me.

    :bored:

Abortion is obviously a homicide. The killing of a fetus simply cannot be homicide when one person did it, but not because another person did it. Fetal homicide laws and the federal Unborn Victimws of Violence Act make it quite clear.

Nobody is "making" abortion a homicide, it simply is a homicide by definition.

SO now, just because you think it will be legal, suddenly you agree it is a homicide?

I did read your OP and I do not see my assertion as wrong. Most of the OP seems irrelevant. I think many of you people are emotionally attached to this topic to a point of irrationality. You have tunnel vision and fail to think with reason.

Interesting that you would say that, yet provide nothing of substance to back up your assertion. Perhaps you are projecting.

This is proven wrong by the 32 or so fetal homicide laws currently enacted.

This has been proven wrong repeatedly. Women who have abotrions after the arbitrary age threshold ARE CHARGED WITH MURDER!

That's nice. Since we're using English, and not Latin, I'm not sure what your point is.

An unborn human embryo. Not a "baby".

So far, you've just made an unsupported claim.

You're the one who brought up the Latin term, not me.

A fetus is always an embryo?

In Illinois "Use of deadly force justified if the unlawful entry is violent, or the person believes the attacker will commit a felony upon gaining entry."

In Indiana "A person: (1) is justified in using reasonable force, including deadly force, against another person; and (2) does not have a duty to retreat; if the person reasonably believes that the force is necessary to prevent or terminate the other person's unlawful entry of or attack on the person's dwelling..."

    etc.

So, I guess that technically I was mistaken. Effectively that's what the law says in some states.
