I'm starting to think we never had it. In the first place, it was a complete miracle that we were a world power. Complete miracle that Germany, England, and the USSR basically crash into each other. Ontop of that, we then crippled Japan. So from that period from the 1950's-1970's, there was no competing world power. We could have united the world under a US-USSR front, which is why I think the Cold War was a mistake in hindsight.

That's on the geopolitical front on why we're a world power: Miracle. And we squandered it.

Domestically, after Kennedy, everything went downhill. LBJ started us off on the Social Programs of doom. Carter just bankrupted us. Reagan had a mixed economic bag and wasn't able to balance out tax reduction with revenue growth. But Reagan would be a god send, compared to; Bush X-2, Obama, Trump.

Very basically, the US Leadership was at its peak from its early days, and the last peak of excellent leadership was Kennedy-Eisenhower. As they say though "A Nation gets the leader it deserves". Low educated voters=Pitiful Presidents.

 

Guess it wasn't even taught in your school. Lincoln invaded the Confederacy to keep the slave states that had left in the Union and they would had been retained as slave states along side the three that did not leave. He didn't do it to save Ft. Sumpter.

Wrong again, you can't even spell Sumter correctly much less get history correct. The Battle of Fort Sumter (April 12–13, 1861).
Within weeks of Lincoln's inauguration (March 4, 1861) Confederate forces had captured all but 4 federal garrisons in the South. Those captured included Fort Pulaski in Savannah, Georgia and Fort Sumter in South Carolina. It was Fort Sumter that forced Lincoln to act with Union force.
"In early 1862, Lincoln tried and failed to develop an alternative approach: an effort to free the salves of the Border States by buying out their masters. Stymied, Lincoln came up with a unique solution; if he could not eliminate slavery in the Union, he would do it in the Confederacy. He would abolish slavery in the Southern States based on his military powers as commander-in-chief of the Union's war effort. His decision was prompted by the realization that slave labor provided the foundation of the South's ability to wage war. On the battle front, slaves dug the trenches, built the battlements, cooked the meals and drove the wagons. On the home front, they tilled the fields, ginned the cotton, and performed many other duties that underpinned the South's economy".

I suggest that you pick up a book on the Civil War and read why Sherman and Grant captured the Mississippi River and split the Confederacy in half. Leaving Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana stranded. With the Blockade, this became known as the "Anaconda Plan" (because it would squeeze the Confederacy to death like a snake does to its prey..

 

Do I have this right? Lincoln abolished slavery and the Democrats have been in charge of the educational system in this country for the last sixty years or more.

This statue has been neglected for some time now, and no one seems to be exactly sure when it was burned, more probably because a lot of people who live there may not even be aware that it's a statue of Lincoln.

That is correct. The Leftists have secured our public education system, our National Media, and our bureaucracies. They are at a point where they think they can finish the deal and make a push towards a fully Centralized Authoritarian Government. They have done it with many "social programs", but they need to end the culture of individual rights which the nation was founded on and replace those rights with government rule.
