Americans: racism a big problem

Perfect example

 

If this forum is a microcosm of society the posts on this thread indicate that the survey is correct, racism is a big problem.

 

Almost half of Americans are Liberal Democrats and would follow their leaders to the end of time. Keep in mind media, whether traditional or modern social media, IS MEDIA to them....But here are some facts....

I've been homeless smoking crack, the only white person in a sea full of black. I witnessed how cops treat black people, and it was no different than they treated me. Also, would you happen to have any examples of someone like Trump saying bad things about minorities? You may not believe this, but it's possible to be against ILLEGAL immigration, and have NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER with immigration. You see, that little adjective modifier "ILLEGAL" makes a world of difference.

Is racism an issue? Yes. Do some cops treat black people differently, and should they lose their jobs? Yes. Would body cams help A LOT? YES. I've yet to witness "how minorities are treated differently" in my daily life, perhaps you could share some examples from yours?

Face it, the only group of people the media seems to think it's A-OK to demonize these days are whites. I'm not saying this cause I'm a white supremicist. I don't think, "There goes my fellow whitey" when I see another white person, I actually judge people based upon their actions, I don't care if they are rich/poor/white/black/gay/straight/etc/etc/etc... But the old joke rings true, "I'm a proud black man...said the black man, I'm a proud Mexican woman...said the Mexican woman...I'm a proud white man, said the racist."

I'm not saying YOU personally do this, but to all of you who call anyone who disagrees with you a racist, you aren't helping to fight racism. You may think you are, but you aren't. You are only polluting the dialogue, and no, you don't possess 1/10 the courage of Rosa Parks or Dr. King when you go online and say "You're a racist cause you don't believe Micheal Brown was a gentle giant".

As far as I can tell, me and one other person are in the middle of this, catching flak from both sides because we believe that racism is wrong, and that people who think everything is racist are wrong.

Perhaps you have a solution to the illegal immigration problem besides (a) Do Nothing, or (b) Call people who value the law "Hitler".

Hitler was big on propaganda, but something tells me you could teach him a thing or two.

I agree with Trumps way of handling imigration.

Deport the illigal ones. Build a nice wall and seal the border. Let them come over legal on workers visa.

If you go back to this post I posted a follow up detailing the results of racism on minorities. Where I see it personally is disdain and distrust of minorities. In the US it's blacks and hispanics, in Canada it's Native-Canadians. The disdain manifests itself as rudeness mostly and the distrust as barriers to employment and housing.

 

Blacks certainly have a strong history of why whites are to blame for their plight as a fact.

Yes because of racial prejudices, which was the result if slavery, which was result of Arians selling capture tribes as slaves, thereby reintrodusing slavery to Europe in the prosses.

It all got started when Portuguese arived at Cape of good Hope. Africans there offered slaves up to trade. And it snowballed from there.

 

Racism has been a problem since men first encountered those not of his kind. The blacks in Africa are racist against other blacks in Africa, the Muslims fight each other over ideology, the Indians have had a caste system for hundreds of years, the Jews, who are semites, fight other semitic people. Just because you and yours say we are all the same certainly doesn't make it true. Go tell the Hutus that they are the same as the Tutusis. Tell the Jews they are brothers of the Palestinians. Tell the Sunnis they are the same as the Shiites.

 

The topic is racism, not religious conflict or civil war.

No, suprisingly that's not true. Romans didn't have a concept of race. It was just "if you're not roman, well enslave you"

It had more to do with Nationaliy.

The concept of race was invented by Virginian plantation owners who's slaves where converting to Christianity. You can't enslave fellow christians and the protestant movement at that time was strong. So they invented race to work around that. Something like "they are a diffrent race so it's ok"

Partly so. There where many other things going on. But yes I agree. But were those stories untrue? Did those things not happen?

 

We're tired of being blamed for everything by *some* blacks.

Most of us know and work with many middle class black people that do not appear to be racists.

IMO the media tries to provoke ignorant, underclass blacks to say racist things and demonstrate loudly. Even though many of us see what the media is doing, we still see how easy it is to get stupid welfare types to make racist comments.

The media in the US would rather make money selling more papers by inciting hatred than make a contribution to civil society.

 

It's an issue because it's a cheap and easy way for the media to rabble rouse and get copy.

I have also seen them lie about racism to get themselves out of trouble.

All are in the past and it is time to get over and get along.
