Yes, why don't they do what they are paid to do and confine their protests to the off season where it belongs

They are not paid to stand for the anthem. I believe they still played the games....didn't they?

The owners can fire them at will....but they won't. Guess why?

    Don't be silly

They are paid to play professional football and playing the national anthem is part of the game being presented

You forget that they are not playing football when they beat up their wife or girlfriend but that is part of their football life too

If players continue to demonstrate during football games tv rating will probably go down and someday the players will get paid less

    Of course emotion defies logic.

All you are doing is showing how cold and heartless you are. It is not an admirable thing to fail to understand patriotism. It is, in fact, pathetic.

You'd think all the people who suddenly hate the NFL now, or at least a certain team, would be just as outraged about people like Michael Vick, Donte Stallworth, Josh Brown or others getting a spot as they are about the protests.

Many were outraged by NFL scofflaws. Many more are outraged by the injuries, antitrust treatment, and political favoritism.

Football as a sport needs to disappear anyway - to many traumatic brain injuries. Parents would be crazy to let their children play. (And I did play 3 years as a TE in high school).

Kneeling during the national anthem does in the eyes of a majority of Americans, shows disrespect for the flag and our country. Even worse, it disrespects everyone who ever served the country in uniform, as well as everyone who fought for, bled for, or died for this country! I'm certain I'm not the only veteran who feels this way and I do not expect any liberal to understand this point of view!

The owners are in a tough spot and their decisions will be solely economic.

They have teams of 70%+ black players with an overwhelming majority of white conservative customers/fans. Their players are not exactly intellectual giants, each seeking their 15 seconds of fame, and many not daring to defy the big-name players or the team, given they are 2nd and 3rd string and could be cut off by the rest of the team, meaning their precarious position to begin with is made worse.

Added to this is the rich owners own arrogance and outrage at the President putting a spotlight on their problem.

I anticipate the NFL Operational Manual in the future will change the requirement of players be on the field and stand for the national anthem to instead not coming out until after it to try to eliminate the issue.

Football will probably have a long term worst evolution than that of baseball due to the more and more schools (pre-college) will be eliminating football due to injuries and costs to instead shift to soccer. The issue of brain damage overall is one increasingly costly to the NFL, which has quietly paid out tens of millions in settlements to past players. This all will lead to a lessening interest in football in the long run.

I agree that football is on the way out for pre-college schools and this will then filter to universities - and ultimately professional football.

How dare people not be willing to pay hundreds of dollars and spend hours of their time to watch their protest - and it unthinkable that anyone counter protest.

I have a suggestion---Why don't all you trump fans tell him to keep his nose out of the NFL & let the teams deal with this issue & how about you tell trump there are more pressing issues for him to deal with, like the humanitarian efforts in Puerto Rico,or the relief efforts from the recent hurricanes, or fixing our healthcare or dealing with DACA or you know, the issues facing our Country---just a thought----

Please SHFU. This is the problem that that I have ALWAYS had with far right "patriots". If you say that American is not perfect in every way and has any flaws or issues, you hate America. They would rather pretend that the US is a magical fairy kingdom where nothing bad ever happens than deal with REAL ISSUES. They are not real patriots and they do not love their country. Instead of wanting to make their country better and fix the things that are wrong with it, they attack anyone who dares to say there's anything wrong at all.

Unless of course THEY see something they don't like, then it's fine to bash America. Such as when Trump spent the entire campaign calling America a fallen empire and a cesspool. They had no issues with Trump directly disrespecting American, and most Americans, but if a ****** dares to peacefully protest the systematic and entrenched racism that plagues the American police departments, which has been documented by countless private organizations, as well as the Justice Department itself, they are traitors, and hate America.

Blow me. Politics has no place in sports. And they're misguided anyway; the "police killing young black men" is statistically insignificant. It's not a widespread problem; it only happens a couple times each year and can be attributed to the normal human rate for error in a split-second situation under tremendous pressure. There is no mass police conspiracy to reduce the number of young black men in America.
