Well we know why it wasn't.
It would conflict with the narrative the media had been trying to create of a white police officer murdering a black man.

I don't think so. The Jury still found Chauvin guilty.
They wanted to scapegoat. They wanted to say there is nothing that needs to systemically change: Chauvin was just a bad apple. Does your average cop now know and understand: the well being of a perp in your custody is now on you. Act in a way that a jury can find negligent? You're going to jail. Some do. That's why they're quitting.

Yeah good luck to the anti-gun leftists whose only defense will be to pee on themselves when attacked.

If they think the cops are bad now.....they're hiring illegal aliens in IL now to be police. I can't help but laugh when I think of how that's going to work out for these geniuses.

I don't doubt you will see an increase police violence against perps as they are bringing in check marks rather than competent cops. When someone actually tries to enforce the law anyway.

Lol...when I saw the title, I thought it was another rightwing rant in defense of mysoginy (you know- chauvinism), but I was wrong.
I sounds more like a defense of police brutality
    Carry on.

'The Justice Department announced today that Derek Chauvin, 45, pleaded guilty in federal court to two violations of a federal civil rights statute.

First, defendant Chauvin pleaded guilty to willfully depriving, while acting under color of law, George Floyd of his constitutional rights, resulting in Mr. Floyd’s bodily injury and death. Defendant Chauvin also agreed that the appropriate sentencing base offense level for this crime is second-degree murder because he used unreasonable and excessive force that resulted in Mr. Floyd’s death, and he acted willfully and in callous and wanton disregard of the consequences to Mr. Floyd’s life.

Second, defendant Chauvin pleaded guilty to willfully depriving, while acting under color of law, a then 14-year-old juvenile of his constitutional rights, resulting in the juvenile’s bodily injury.'

The short story was "He was convicted of killing a dying man by mob justice."
The legal system sacrificed Chauvin rights for peace in the streets.
And now the very same people are taking sides with Palestine.

Much of what the situation turned out to be was the result of the interpretation of things being adjusted to reach a conclusion made in advance.
The movement to hate cops and dis-empower them was hot, the liberals progressives were energized. The black community was trying to equate black with innocent and abused, and the police with malice and racism.

I noted several facts at the time. One being that Floyd was proclaiming "I can't breathe" while sitting in his car before anybody ever touched him. Public video proves that. He was obviously reacting to drug overdose. Then- Chauvin knew Floyd, knew he used drugs, sold drugs and had done time for violent felonies. Chauvin is a small man, weighing about 150. Floyd was a very large man, who had a foot in height and around 100 lbs advantage. Consider that along with the drugs obviously active, and Floyd was potentially explosive. If any of us were in that situation, trying to control somebody with that much physical advantage and that kind of mindset- we wouldn't take any chances either.

My conclusion at the time was that at most, Chauvin used the control process a bit too strongly. He had no way to know the nature and severity of the drugs in play, he had to act based on irrational behavior and the refusal to comply. The toxicology report showed a number of drugs, and fentanyl in potentially lethal dose, but lethal varies with body size, acquired tolerance and other health issues- of which Floyd had several. The autopsy specifically stated that the signs which would typically be present from forced asphyxiation, such as muscle bruising in the neck, petechial hemorrhage and damage to the larnx, were not there at all. IF the knee pressure actually strangled Floyd- those would have been present. The autopsy conclusion was obviously influenced by the politicized atmosphere and pressure.

Then- you have the trial. The courthouse had to be barricaded into a sort of fortress, and the press coverage was going along with the black's hate fad against police. Even Biden took a public stand before the trial, an incredibly stupid move. All that, and yet the court rejected a Change of Venue motion. If every such a motion was appropriate, it was here. My view- this was a political lynching. Appease the people demanding the police must be destroyed, every cop is a racist, etc. Stupid thing to do, and it helped set the stage for all the outrage and violence that followed.

One issue is that officer Chauvin arrived on the scene later, and may not have been aware that Floyd had been saying he couldn't breathe from the beginning.
So there was a communications breakdown issue between the officers.

To Chauvin, Floyd's claims that he couldn't breathe probably would have seemed manipulative, given the situation and Floyd having just been acting hysterically, trying to avoid being taken away in the back of the police car.

A Jury member says they didn't agree to what the Times is reporting. They could find that what Chauvin did with his knee was irrelevant.

Sorry, should have added the reason Chauvin was convicted of 2nd degree murder is stated at 7 minutes. On 2nd watch though, they did think it manslaughter I assume due to Chauvin's actions. I disagree with them on that one, particularly in light of what we now know the State's coroner said (this is the kind of case that ends careers, etc.)

    Chavins' knee was irrelevant?
@ 5:45 it's Chavin NOT removing his KNEE from Floyd's neck when told he had NO pulse and administer CPR which was what was mandated to do when a person is in your custody and needs first aid.

Adding insult to injury/death Chauvin continued to keep his knee on Floyd's neck after the EMS arrived and they had to tell Chauvin to get his knee off of Floyd's neck.

@5:45 jurors explain how that is what cinched his guilty verdict after spending the most time watching the horrific video from when life left Floyd, what was said to Chauvin and Chauvin's responses.

At that point it's Not what Chauvin did it's what Chauvin DIDN'T do.
    Thanks for the video.

I agree they would have. Even if Chauvin wasn't there to hear the comments Floyd made in the car, other officers were, and it is videotaped on bodycam. No question it was admissible evidence, seemingly ignored.
Contradicts the claim that Chauvin was cutting off his breathing on the ground. Chauvin is appealing to the supreme court. If it's handled honestly, I can't imagine that as a minimum he gets a new trial. Too much aggressive publicity, too much politics and not enough justice in the case.

Yeah, I rewatched and posted that they did initially all agree to manslaughter. At that point I infer they thought Chauvin's knee was relevant particularly in light of the State's Coroner report. I was wrong about that part of their deliberation. But with what we know now, I personally think the knee irrelevant but if I could get the Jury to agree with me, it wouldn't matter. As you point out at 7 min, it is what Chauvin didn't do that got him the 2nd degree murder conviction. And that one, I agree with. I wonder if it can be applied to the cops in the Tony Timpa case. Those guys are getting promotions.

The video shows why Chauvin was convicted and also plead guilty to the Federal charges of denying Floyd his constitutional right of medical attention when in his police custody.

Had it not been for the young lady Daniella Frazier videoing the torturous killing of George Floyd Chauvin would probably be still on the force.
Chauvin even lied through his teeth on his police report.
In this case the video usurped the coroner's report, what was or was not said between all parties involved.

Incredible amount of manipulation and tainting of perception involved in this case, and appeasement to the black community wanting to punish police for being police. Kind of like calling the video "Horrific".

No "manipulation and tainting of perception" needed when the video spoke for itself.
According to you then all the police officers who saw the video of Chauvin and his thugs say that's just "police being police" and me and my bro cops would have done the same.

Good to know that calling the video "horrific" of George Floyd being tortured to death offends you.

I mistakenly called Darnella Frazier, Daniella Frazier.

'Darnella Frazier (born March 23, 2003) is an American woman who recorded the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, posting her video on Facebook and Instagram. The video undermined the initial account of Floyd's death by the Minneapolis Police Department,[1] and served as evidence leading to criminal charges against four police officers. Frazier testified during the trial, which ended with the conviction of Derek Chauvin on murder charges. She received a special award and citation from the Pulitzer Prize board in 2021.'

'The video showed Chauvin kneeling on Floyd's neck until he died, and records Floyd's distressed comments, such as, "My stomach hurts. My neck hurts. Everything hurts. I need some water or something, please. Please," and "They're going to kill me, man," and then, "Don't kill me."[7] He called out for his "Mama" and said, "I'm through".[7] Her video lasted ten minutes and nine seconds, until Floyd's lifeless body was carried away on a stretcher.[6]

At 1:46 a.m. on May 26, Frazier posted her video to Facebook and Instagram, adding the caption: "They killed him right in front of cup foods over south on 38th and Chicago!! No type of sympathy </3 </3 #POLICEBRUTALITY."[8] Her video quickly went viral. When the Minneapolis Police Department issued a misleading statement about Floyd's murder called "Man Dies After Medical Incident During Police Interaction," Frazier responded at 3:10 a.m., saying "Medical incident??? Watch outtt they killed him and the proof is clearlyyyy there!!"[8]

In a statement released by her lawyer, Frazier said, "I opened my phone and I started recording because I knew if I didn't, no one would believe me".[9]

How was the right to medical attention denied to him?

It seems those on the Left have some very different ideas about what a person's "rights" to medical treatment should be.

The officers had just placed the suspect under arrest, and there was no immediate traumatic event that had just happened to the suspect (like a stab wound, being shot with a bullet, being involved in an automotive accident, etc).

The officers told Floyd they were going to roll down the windows in back seat of the police car to try to help make it easier for him to breathe.

This isn't a case of a prisoner being held hours, days, or months without being given medical treatment.

If Floyd hadn't died and had then got up and been put in a patrol car- you would not have seen anything out of the ordinary in a bust like this. There was no sign of his dying other than the lack of respiration and heartbeat. The same restraint you call torture was an approved procedure in the police manual, and has been used thousands of times to control people resisting arrest. The fact Floyd died is a rare exception- and most likely he died from the variety of drugs he was taking in combination with the severe health issues he had anyway.

Statements to the contrary are so tainted with prejudice to appease the radical racist claims that no rational person would accept them without question. Of course, the police haters (usually people who object to having to obey laws) are happy to claim it was murder. We expect that from that kind of person.

Another factor, I suspect the officers may have been concerned that if Floyd had been able to get up, he might have made a dash for it and run away from the car into traffic. This would have placed both Floyd's life, and the other officers' lives who would have had to follow him in jeopardy.
Given Floyd's huge body build, and the fact that he appeared under the influence of drugs, even though he was in handcuffs it would still have been difficult for the officers to easily hold him back, if he had been able to get up.

Unfortunately, when Floyd had been allowed to tumble out of the backseat of the police car, he had tumbled out on the side of the car facing the street, and there was a lot of traffic in the street. If Floyd had tried to make a run for it (a possibility which the officers have to have anticipated), he would have tried to run away from the police, and that would then probably have involved running into the street with traffic.

This wasn't a normal person that one or two officers could have easily yanked back. If Floyd had gotten up and run into traffic, even with two officers pulling at him he probably would have dragged them along some distance into the street where there was some danger of being hit by traffic.
