'Annie' remake: casting of black lead provokes negative Twitter posts

Production costs were 65 million. 134 is more than double ... success! I am talking about Annie, the subject of the thread.

 

Okay, so we are talking about the Fantastic Four. However, the movie was a flop for a different reason than simply who or what race played the characters. If you read the critics responses, they focused on directing and writing, which contributes to how well or how bad the acting is done. When I watched the movie, it was simply a repeat of the movie that came out in 2004. They could have done better with the following characters: Storm, Hulk and Spider Man. That would make an interesting movie and involve the Earth 616 series as a backdrop for the movie. Audiences would love it, if the directing and writing were done correctly, along with enough special effects to keep the audience entertained.

 

So again

Would there be outrage if the next Shaft movie had a white actor in the lead role? Foxy Brown? What if the new "In the Heat of the Night" TV series has a white Virgil Tibbs?

Fair enough, However, when you see the pics of the cast, and see how little regard was taken with them...how well could we have expected any of the rest to be handled? When you butcher the heroes and villians, Im not sure even a triple A script would ahve salvaged it.

Comic Book movies are one of those things that need to stay true to their source material IMO. Some variations of course are ok if needed onscreen...but some just scream bad, unneeded choice.


Honestly the worst part on the thing to me is seeing a third whiff on Dr Doom.

nobody would give a hoot if shaft was played by matt damon. it would be credit to shaft in the first place and the writer would be chuffed and raking in the dollar. your point fails to explain anything. getting a white guy to play "jesus" now thats another matter, that is stealing the identity and true history of black folks and that is wicked practice, thats why white media did it, for entirely wicked purposes.

 

Thats not bad news at all man, I'm glad to hear it. I'm hoping this time they actually regard the original property with the respect it deserves, and make a good one.

I've always loved the FF, was one of my favs growing up.

Going to keep my hopes up that they'll get it right this time.

I don't think logic means I have to understand differences... I think logic means I must have a set of guidelines to follow and apply them equally, to differences...

I think its okay to be different, as long as we all have opportunity, results will vary... but it seems a growing trend that people want to force others to think and act as they choose, rather than allow choice... (politically I guess both sides do this)... I miss the days, when it was okay, for one voice, to have the right to say no... but today, we seek to destroy that one voice, in the name of democracy, or whatever nutty weird stereotypes people like to use...

I think today many people want to seem kosher by espousing one thing when their experience tells them the contrary.
For instance, that men and women are no different....Or that blacks and Asians are no different....Or that Christians and Muslims aren't much different...
Logic understands why I'm not dropping my toddler off at a single, middle-aged male's house for babysitting. Logic gets why I'm inclined to have more confidence in a male car mechanic. Logic sees an all Asian NFL team as silly and is putting money on the black team to win. Logic profiles Muslims getting on an airplanes.
