Strange thing - people said the same about the Cottingley fairies and flat earth

Now tell me - how does an expanding Earth fit with Sat nav's or are they part of the conspiracy too??

I retract that statement. Reversing it is probably implausible at this point. What we can do is soften the impact. I'm not speaking from my knowledge of the peer-reviewed journals here, mind you; it just seems to be something of common sense that if we can influence the climate by pumping out billions of tons of CO2, we should be able to influence it in other ways. Or that by ending that pollution, we could potentially limit the warming. But I'm not interested in "how could our government deal with this problem". I'm interested in making it clear that this problem exists, and that solutions are potentially possible. Nothing more.

I'm not. Congrats, you ruined a completely good thread. Might as well post about how the earth is flat, and then spend all day defending it with made-up facts and ridiculous youtube videos.

Trying to soften the impact would require government, and again I refer to my previous post, government is really good a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing most things up.

Or a global shift in consciousness. Which is only delayed by sentiments like these. I agree, for the most part, that the government is completely unprepared to help deal with global warming. The only things it can do right is subsidize green technology, and that idea has been so discredited by failures like Solyndra that it's going to be a hard sell for the next big breakthrough in green energy. Everything else... Well, I don't have a solution. I wish I did, but I don't.

A global shift in consciousness will happen when Idaho has beach front property. Our solution will be to adapt for survival, as humans probably did millions of years ago.

a)Protons, aka Hydrogen bonds with free oxygen molecules in the Ozone layer and become part of a new water molecule. Water falls from the atmosphere as rain. The water does not leave the planet ever. It collects on the surface, in oceans.

b)Protons, aka Hydrogen bonds with free oxygen molecules in the Ozone layer and become part of a new water molecule. Water falls from the atmosphere as rain. The water does not leave the planet ever. It collects on the surface, in oceans.

c)Thats false. O3 is created constantly world wide by lightning.

nope, I didnt ruin anything. The earth isnt flat and yes there probably are youtube videos that will tell you it is...

Facts are facts and science is science

    ORIGINAL = beginning

yes, I know it is 2012 but that theory has been around since 1968 and been debunked more times than a drunken sailor in a cyclone!

Hey, everyone stop arguing. Comic book artist Neal Adams says the earth and all the planets are expanding, and how can centuries of science hope to compete with that?

What's the rate of this expansion, by the way? No matter, I can figure it out. Adams has the world at about half the current diameter 65 million years ago. That's roughly a change of 6500 km.

    6500km/65million = 10 cm / year.

10 cm is easily enough for our GPS satellites to pick up. So if the earth really is expanding 10 cm / year, why don't they pick it up?

Hot (*)(*)(*)(*)! The chemists and the physicists must be in on this conspiracy too!!

A Proton is not the same thing as Hydrogen

Yes Hydrogen contains a proton but it also contains an electron

And even OXYGEN is in FINITE supply!!! Matter cannot be created from nothing - now even if it WERE being created the force required to increase the diameter of the planet is phenomenal - and can not be accounted for by adding in extra water. Even IF this were true all that would be happening is that the seas would be rising

    (shakes head in disbelief!!)

Thats not true. This expanding earth theory has been around since 2005.

Yes, thats normally true, but a solar mass ejection aka a solar storm is a stream of plasma ejected from the sun.

In a plasma state all the electrons are striped off.

    This guy is a chump.

Ive already clearly explained where the extra matter comes from.

Ive clearly explained how this matter is added and how its ubiquity is the reason why its ignored... Its freakn rain.

Ive also shown how and why earth has a molten core, and a magnetic field.

Just for the sake of argument...

Lets say earth only gains 1000 gallons of water a year. I know it doesnt seem like much, but over 200 billion years, suddenly we've got oceans of it.

But that is not what the theory is stating - if you believe what Neal Adams is averring (and I hope you have not sent them any money) then the expansion is not in added water (and is there ANY evidence of sea level rise to the extent you are claiming?) he is trying to convince people that the Earth is expanding from within

Again - look to FACTS and ask - where is the evidence for this?

No hes not, hes claiming the earth is growing.

The evidence is right in the video and its backed up by the government.

    http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/image/images/g01167-pos-a0001.pdf

Do you see the new ocean floor? its in red in those images. Earth is expanding and the expansion is due to ever increasing pressure from an ever increasing quantity of water on the planet.

The sea level does rise, and lowers when the earths crust buckles, during earth quakes.

With respect to this, the ice caps and current ice age are a relatively recent phenomenon at 2.5 million years old.

The AGW true believers never take this into account.

52 million years ago is long enough for continental drift to put Antarctica at latitudes where Madagascar is presently located. As for the laughable "expanding Earth" rubbish, someone should look up "subduction" and "plate tectonics".

You know what else is a relatively recent phenomenon? Human civilizations. Oh, and Homo Sapiens. I mean, what's the point you're trying to make here? The same "it's all natural" claim that has been shown to be oh so wrong for oh so long? No, it's not "all natural", and this has been long since established.

Someone sent me a great paper out of Princeton that if anyone's interested I can ask a moderator how to upload files that basically said that supervolcanoes have "moved" the poles more than once and have the power to cause great global cataclysm.

It's actually working out very well. The hole in the ozone layer-caused by humans-is closing up because we did something about it, rather than sitting around with our thumbs up our arses, in collective denial.

Ever heard of subduction zones - we have one off of the coast - means the ocean floor is contracting there and New Zealand is sliding under Australia - mind you the Kiwis are pretty generous and don't hold that against us
