If only it were actually that simple. The "well regulated militia" bit is what's going to make simplified interpretations problematic.

Only for those who are ignorant, willfully or otherwise, of current jurisprudence and/or seek to make said interpretations "problematic".
The "well-regulated militia" is not relevant to the issue of who posses the right to keep and bear arms and what they may use those arms for.

Passed the Senate due to citizen lobbying and now awaiting Governor signature.

No actually it is pretty simple. The Militia is defined by the USC and I have posted the code reference many times on PF. Citizens between 17 and 45 are the militia.

You might not take an issue with voter ID, but you certainly aren't one to support it. As demonstrated, it's such a miniscule [sic] issue.... no support.

Comparatively, gun used in crimes are also extremely low considering how many people with guns exist.

So, you support free registration of guns too right?

Just making sure we have balanced opinions around here.

    Not really.

Regardless of how you define a militia, or what it says about being regulated, this part Trumps ALL of it.

"the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The issue about the militia is simply the justification for the bolded statement. Not a requirement.

Yeah. Nothing like a DP-12 to send a ****-ton of buckshot down a hallway.
I planned to get one last Christmas, but with Sleepy Joe and the Gun Haters taking over the government, I had other priorities.

I'm being a bit of a Devil's advocate here, but you can't ignore the well regulated militia reference as if it doesn't pertain to the rest of the amendment. It's not as crystal clear as you would like. It will be the basis of many court challenges.

Imagine if it wasn't there. The amendment would read "Being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

That is absolute. But including the rest of the text introduces the possibility of limitations as a function of being well regulated.

You can't take the part you like and ignore the part you don't.

Nice, I just bought a tactical shotgun this weekend. That one's definitely nicer.

It was. In 2008. The result?
The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.
    Looks like that was settled.

I saw one that looked similar to this in one of the stores I visited over the weekend. Didn't have the drum and all the bells and whistles but the main part of the gun looked the same. Was more than double what I was wanting to spend or I'd have bought it.

    Free registration of guns, yes.

I also feel guns shouldn't be sold to people who shouldn't have them. How many times have you talked to someone you know where you told yourself, oh lord, that person should not have a gun. We all know someone like that. LOL

When I was in the market for a Semi auto shotgun, I had narrowed it down to a Benelli M4 11715 or the FN Self Loading Police Shotgun and I went with the Benelli M4. Fast forward 2 years I started thinking about that FN Herstal SLP again and to my dismay I found out that FN had stop production. Looked everywhere and saw couple for sale, but they wanted a Mint for them and then I came across a brand new never fired one for MSRP and jumped on it. Joe Biden has created a Market where Guns have become almost surefire investments if you purchase the correct ones.

That firearm is not legal in all 50 states.

California is one of them where that fine firearm is not legal.
