    How do you know? Do you have a PHD in climate science? Have you even read the latest IPCC report or have you, like so many many denialists merely relied on the words of people like Bill O Reilly ?

    So - the vast majority of your friends are conservative - ergo - all engineers are conservative? This is why we can't let some conservatives dictate science.

    No, my point is you act as though conservatives are against science when the vast majority of people I know and work with in technical fields are conservative.

    Btw I've never heard of a "science" degree, the people I know who are considered to be scientists, but who work as engineers, have doctorates in some form of physics or chemistry. Occasionally biology but that's usually more geared toward some specific type of organic chemistry.

    Either way they are almost all conservative.

    It wouldn't say lazy per se, but if someone spends that much time on learning without being commercially viable, it doesn't seem very smart...

    Just debate climate science for a while and note that most, the vast majority are conservative. Not only that but they seem to have surfaced from the shallow end of the knowledge pool with comments such as

    The climate is warming because Earth has moved into a hot spot in space
    CO2 is heavier than air so they are measuring it wrong cos it should be higher on the ground
    Pollution in the air in the northern hemisphere does not reach the south because of the equator or something
    And my all time favourite
    You Australians are causing coral bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef because you have been blowing hot air over it (yeah caught out we have been lining up along Cape York farting in the direction of America )

    And again - you are conservative - it's natural that the people you hang with are conservatives, but this does not make a good baseline for claiming that engineers are conservative. Anecdotal evidence is poor science.

    Most scientists are employed in the private sector. And study IS hard work. Which is probably why I see so little of it from denialists

    The people I "hang out" with are the people I work with, who are scientists and engineers. Sure, it's anecdotal, but I don't mind using that type of argument to counter your ridiculous claim that people who are skeptical of global warming data are scared of science.

    Which climate scientists are employed by the private sector? The only climate scientists I've ever heard of in the private sector were 'paid for' by big oil. If you can provide something to back your claims I'd appreciate that...

    You realize that that the two Stanford students who started Google did so in conjunction with the research for their Computer Science Doctoral Thesis.
    Just say'n.
    Many important commercial discoveries and ideas come out of thesis papers.

    I'm much less concerned about whether or not it is real as I am about what is to be done about it if it is.

    The moment I saw carbon trading emerge as an answer I became weary and worried that like most things, this is just about money.
